My first review was great please read on food has changed from 4 stars to only Two They have the best hamburger gravy ever I don’t know about you but when I think about hamburger gravy I think it blah not a lot of taste not the case here. Great people. The reason I gave it four stars instead of five it is an older café should be updated at the greatest looking place it’s a hole in the wall and with good food. And I’ll buy you some hole in the walls have incredible food just fun and different to go to. It’s clean with good eats. This place went from 4 starts to two. Every time we come to Oregon from Arizona about every other month we have to come here for the hamburger gravy on my chicken fried steak it has always been amazing a husband and wife team worked there she was a great a server and he was an amazing cook. well I guess they have been let go very sad, because the food now is not so good, and service well let’s just say the messed up on three different things on our orders… I really really hope they bring them back the people sitting next to us said the same thing.

Not bad, usually frequented by locals. Parking is a small issue when they are jam packed. Could use a good cleaning, but meets the general american diner standard. The food was overall average, not really bland but not great. Owners and wait staff are nice. Good for a quick, easy bites.

The food wasn’t that great and the guy who seated us, took our order, and cooked our food had the dirtiest nails. Along with that the place was kinda gross. Won’t be going back.

SO my little Breakfast loving heart is breaking. I am giving 3 stars still because I do love the people here and and am hoping things are temporarily sucking and not gonna stay that way :(We would always come here for breakfast on the weekends when we could. Extremely friendly owners and you just feel so at home! Good food. all around was a favorite. Well… She seems to not be working weekends anymore. which is great for her.(the owner) but for me. not so great… I have been in several times now with her not there and the waitress holding the fort down stresses me out so much we actually left after just drinking our coffee last weekend:(she runs around like a chicken with her head cut off and makes sure everyone is aware that she is swamped and doesn’t have enough hands to do the job. It is completely understandable that she might not be able to do EVERYTHING but not good to let customers see it or hear it. Always waiting for coffee. etc. Honestly I feel liek the food is not quite as good anymore but. who knows maybe the all around bad taste in my mouth is affecting it. I do have to point out that they have DELICIOUS apple juice. you gotta try it. they special order it i think. not the run of the mill, I am not even an apple juice fan but this is some gooooood juice! And yep like others have pointed out, the owner is a talented baker!!! Hoping things get better because I really loved this place when we first moved to the area.

On the way through Lafayette on a weekend morning, my mom and I stopped for breakfast. The whole place was packed with locals, in the dining room and at the bar. There was only one waitress and she was swamped and running as fast as she could. But she was keeping her chin up and the food was good. It’s standard American fare, well-prepared with evident attention to detail. The bacon was just wonderful. If I were to go here again on my way through town, I would just order big plates of bacon. It’s definitely noteworthy. And the bill was so inexpensive! Really, it was a great experience and I admired the people who created this place.

This mom’n’pop diner is warm friendly, and has GREAT food. Love Sarah’s cinnamon rolls. Home cut fries or biscuits and gravy are a favorite too. The bathrooms could use a toothbrush… but otherwise nice and clean. we love to eat here. ps homestyle burgers too. yum.

On the Way Café is a very special place. The food is honest, simple, copious, and tasty. It is filled with locals that know each other and the owners. It’s the kind of place you hope to find«on the way».

This place is a real find. Sara does all her own baking, and she and husband Martin are as welcoming to tourists as they are to the many locals who frequent this authentic and homey café. We liked it so much we went back the next day. This is a new generation taking a turn at running an established family run business– off to a great start.

We have been going here for about a year or so whenever we go down to wine country for wine tasting. We always get the corned beef hash, 2 eggs, and hashbrowns, which is awesome. True, the décor is a bit outdated, but there are new owners/managers, and the last time we were there they had repainted, etc. The people there are all very friendly.

This is a great little stop for classic American food. I have only stopped for breakfast’s and lunches but they are super cheep and great. The owner and wait staff are super nice and everyone who comes in is treated like a neighbor. I highly recommend this as a place to stop while you are out touring wine country.

The On the Way Café curbed my craving for a ham & cheese omelete wonderfully. The hashbrowns were delicious, the toast was great, perfectly toasted with just the right amount of butter. And the omelete was awesome — huge, like 5 eggs, with lots of bite-size chunks of ham and plenty of cheese. And it was $ 6! The current hours are 7am — 3pm. They have games and toys for children of all ages to play with.

Been here a few times now, place seems to get more run down by the day — though still remains a local favorite for Lafayette. Service is ok o-0 but I’ve have found better lately.
