My mom’s furnace quit heating. She’s had H&M work on her furnace before and also had them install air conditioning in her home, so she felt comfortable calling them again. When the tech arrived, he heard a squealing sound from the furnace and declared that it needed a new one. Then he looked at it. Um, you really should look at it first, sir. He did oil the furnace inducer motor and the squeal went away. Then he proceeded to say that it needed to be replaced and would be $ 700 to $ 800. But he really recommended a new 80% efficient furnace for $ 2800. When I talked with him, he said that because the furnace was a 1983, a home inspector would condemn it and the house couldn’t be sold until it was replaced. Home inspectors only make recommendations, they don’t condemn anything. And the furnace is a 1986 based on the serial number. I found a replacement motor for $ 100 on Amazon and got that crook out of my mom’s life.

Terrible experience. Not helpful after heating system install. Rude.
