Whenever I visit Lafayette I always stop in to this place. I love the vibe and the gentleman working behind the bar is very sweet. However, my experience in there over the weekend has ruined it and I will never go back. I’ve never been in there while there was a waitress or at least I never noticed them. It was my friends birthday and I was going to buy her a shot and the waitress said she could get it. I said no thank you, I wanted to take it at the bar. I don’t like to sit at a table and take shots, I like to stand at the bar. So I go order our shots and we take them and I realize I forgot to order a beer. By that time I was back at the table and she was over there talking to our group of friends about whatever. I had said hey I forgot to get a beer could you please get me one and she said no. And continued to be extremely rude telling me she had no tables all night and she finally had customers and I screwed her out of her money. I wasn’t sure if she was joking or not and I even asked her if she was being serious because I was in shock. My boyfriend ordered me a beer at the bar and I took one drink, left it, and went outside. I will never go back. She made me feel like I were as big as an ant and I’m still pissed off about it.

Update: No more smoking allowed and a new menu that incorporates more options that are found at the WL Hunters.
A little more divey than its counterpart in West Lafayette, this Hunters is in a basement and still allows smoking. The atmosphere is pretty cool, although a little dark. They also have bands sometimes on the weekend. It can be impossible to hold a conversation when the band is playing, though. It’s also open later than the one in West Lafayette.
The menu is a little more restricted, but they have great burgers. You can also get any variety of burger with a vegetarian option, which is great for my vegetarian boyfriend. They have daily drink specials and the waitresses have always been very friendly and try to be attentive, even when it’s a completely packed house.

Decent brews and you can smoke inside — what more can you really ask for in a place?

This place has a near location and is in a way underground feeling. It’s a cozy small place and the food and drinks are overall pretty good!

Great atmosphere, wonderful staff. The food is good at a decent price, but stay away from the turkey burger, it’s just processed nasty turkey. There are many other good items available, including the BLT.

No drafts, no thanks. Gets one point for the multiple entrances.

I love their pub pasta salad. This location makes it the best!

This is a great little bar that you have to go down stairs to find. The bartender is always friendly and their food is good at a reasonable price. I enjoy going there for lunch, dinner, or drinks. I recommend their pub pasta salad for something light but filling. Great place for a nice relaxing night if you don’t mind the smoke!

I go here every Thursday night with a gang of grad ChemEs and we clear out their supply of Stroh’s. The $ 1.75/bottle specials on Monday and Thursday are amazing especially when you start looking at the prices around downtown. The servers are excellent, and the bartender is a great guy. He knows our names and it never takes long to get a cold beer.

I love this place, period.

I’ve been here a handful of times and I like it, sort of. I feel like I should like Hunter’s more, and asthetically it’s cool, and if it’s not too busy it’s great, but the combination of low ceilings, smoke, limited seating, and crammed in drunks on the weekends makes me want to push my way the eff out, run up the stairs and flee for The Black Sparrow or somewhere.
What I like though, is the nice bartender who from what regulars tell me, always remembers your drink and your name. They have live music, too.

One of my favorite places to go to enjoy hanging out with friends in a relaxed cheers type environment. There is a great selection of beer and the food is also very good. Steve is one of the best bartenders in town. There are also very good bands that play down there. My only complaint is that as a non smoker it can get a bit over bearing on a busy night.

Same as the WL location, but a bigger bottled beer selection
