Hey, Patrick! I stopped in from the weekly, special request to shop for market specials. I definitely recommend the tuna steak. Even tho it was very, very expensive, the taste was surprisingly delicious. The fish was a deep red in color and very fresh. I broiled it on my Mini George Foreman Grill with soy, Mayo, lemon juice and creole mustard purchased from the market, and seasoned with dill and sea salt. I think I will return, on holidays, sunny days, and maybe rainy days and of course my birthday. This market meets my high standards for fresh meat.

The only reason for not getting 5 stars is because of the price. They are priced above most. The food is really good and they have a nice selection of sauces. I always end up with the brisket sandwich. I’ll go back but not as often as I’d like because if the pricing.

Fantastic experience! Came in about 15 minutes before close and sampled what was left — BBQ pulled pork and brisket. Best I’ve had and I really like BBQ. Moist meat with excellent smoke. Sides were amazing as well. Baked beans were fantastic, as was the mac & cheese. Wish we could have tried the cold sides as well. Next visit for that! Very welcoming owner that educated us before our order and gave a tour of the smoker after. This is a dude that knows and enjoys his craft. Not to be missed. Give them a go. We look forward to returning for more!

I have visited this place many times after I first found out about it a year ago. My favorite entry there is the pork chop which comes in great portion and the meat is so tender and juicy. The smoke chicken, brisket, ribs are good too, but not the best I have had. All sides are delicious, my favs are the corn bread(reminds me of Texas), butter corn, and the salads. Btw, this is a much better bbq joint than south street.

It isn’t much from the outside, but it’s not much from the inside either. The food is reasonably tasty, but it doesn’t knock your socks off. The staff was incredibly friendly and generous with sides.

Traveler that I am, stopped here on the recommendation of a local hotel. Atmosphere is pretty plain, but my ribs were delicious. Juicy, tender and cooked well. No large selection of homemade sauces, but SBR’s was a good match. I would come back.

Based on Unilocalers dinning past, had high expectations. Unfortunately those expectations deflated like a Patriots playoff football. A brisket meal with baked beans and corn bread, two pulled pork meals with mashed potatoes, a broccoli salad and 2 mac n cheese’s. All-in-all, uneven at best near 2:30 on a Sunday afternoon for our triumvirate. Brisket was on the dry side although had a good smoke flavor and the portion was admirable. The pulled pork again was generously portioned and had a fine Q smoke and sauce but one of the buns was obviously past the«use by date». The mashed taters were just flat out cold. The mac n cheese was hot tasty, and o so cheesy. The broccoli salad couldn’t have been better but like the other sides seemed under-portioned for the price… all items mentioned above plus a single fountain coke was just shy of two face shots of President Jackson. Service was fine enough but maybe we hit a bad food day. I like to give folks the benefit of the doubt, but right now doubt is about all i can throw some spicy Q sauce on. Trial at your own risk and may the portion size be with you.

I am a BBQ guy and this place was neither great nor horrible. I got the ribs and the brisket and neither tasted fresh but not so old it was shoe leather. I also found it a bit overpriced for what you got on the plate. I mean 15 bucks for 3 very small ribs and 3 smaller slices of brisket with 2 sides seems small in comparison to other BBQ joints I have been to. I wouldn’t return to this site but the service was good.

Ordered a pulled pork sandwich and a drink. Sandwich was bun and pulled pork that’s it. No pickles, no onions available that I could see. Medium fountain drink. Cost $ 11.18 including tax. Far from exceptional. I feel like the cost was about 30% higher than it should have been for what I got. There are much better BBQ alternatives locally.

Pretty good food. The sides are really the stars of this place. The bbq sandwich is good, but not worth the $ 11 price tag. The pock chop is huge, and surprisingly the same price, but isn’t only mediocre. I have a hard time taking a bbq place seriously when they use Sweet Baby Rays bbq sauce, but that’s just me. All in all, good food, but South Street is better and much cheaper.

Love the Mac n cheese from this place! They truly do have the best sides such as beans and mac n cheese. I was not found of their pulled pork however I found it to be a little chewy and not very flavorful.

Absolutely amazing. A friend and I went to try this place for the first time and both got the brisket plate that comes with two sides. Wow. The meat was bery tender and with a great smoke flavor. The macaroni and cheese was so good my friend bought extra to take home. We sampled a variety of their fresh salads, which the staff kindly gave us to sample, and they were all unique and fresh. While eating the staff came and offered us free dessert since it was our first time, we were so full so he offered to pack it to go for us. I opted for the fruit salad and my friend the banana pudding which looked amazing. We will definitely be back.

This is my favorite barbecue joint in town. Their side of baked beans are to die for. I’ll usually get their huge thing of pork chop plus a couple sides for a little over 10 bucks and that’ll get me through two meals. I’m also a big fan of their gator meat when they have it in(only saw available once). Their staff is super friendly and the place has comfortable dine in seating. Like the other reviews mentioned, this place is heaven for carnivores like myself.

Quotes from 12– and 8-year olds: «We need to come here more often!»(It is over 1 hr drive…) «This is so awesome, I can not even pause for a drink», «Mom, I give you permission to go on Unilocal right now!»(They usually complain to high heaven if I do that during a meal.) The aroma as you walk in is a classic«I am now ready to eat an entire pig» BBQ. One ½ smoked chicken meal fed the ravenous 12-year old + mom. Good reports on pulled pork and baked beans — not too spicy. This may become our staple stop on the way to Chicago.

Amazing BBQ, brisket, smoked salmon, Mac n cheese and green beans!!! Everything was spot on and seriously delicious! We have been told we are food snobs and this place hit the spot! Would highly recommend. We also had the fish spread on crackers and some of their appetizers and they were all outstanding!!!

Spectacular: that’s the word to describe this place. Hefty portions. Great taste. Friendly service. Variety. These are all things this place is good for. I walked in, unsure of what to try. I settled on a pork chop. This was the largest pork chop I’ve ever had. Thick, yet tender enough to cut with a plastic knife. It was very flavorful to say the least. They threw in a few ribs just because, and they were phenomenal as well. I had the macaroni and cheese and the beans as sides. Both good choices. I was struggling to finish it all, but I did. I’ll be going back there really soon. They’ve got lots more to try. Apparently they have specials depending on what day it is, which means I’ll be making some off trips up there.

Maybe we just came at a slow time, but this place was disappointing. After the 5 star reviews I was expecting good quality food, and when we walked in the food was sitting out in pans under heating lamps and you could very easily tell it had not been fresh and had been sitting there for quite some time. Meats looked dried out, sides such as green beans, baked beans, and Mac and cheese were either not full or started to crust from sitting out. Nothing really looked to appetizing to be honest. I ended up with the ribs they were just okay nothing special and dried out. Salad bar item was good and those items looked awesome! I’m sure this place can have good quality food, but just because it is slow shouldn’t mean old food for customers.

I made a terrible mistake in my previous review: I said that this«might» be the best barbecue I’ve ever had. That was a mistake. There’s no «might» about it. Really.

Carnivores Unite! Wow. What a great find! The portions are large and the food is delicious! I would have never known this was here had my fellow alumni friend from Purdue had not been visiting! The cook who prepared the food also served it — with excellent customer service I must add. He was patient, kind, helpful, and proud of his creations. …To serve what you cook yourself??? No pressure! He was humble and modest, however his culinary skills were dynamite!!! He should be proud of his supreme talent. Also, I have a ten star for his over the top care, respect, and concern for others. He is AWARE. He brought us free bread pudding samples and stated, «This is delicious, as long as you aren’t allergic to peanuts.» My friend IS allergic to peanuts and I below there may have been some in the sauce. We have taken him to the hospital so many times from his extreme peanut/peanut butter allergy. This chef served us well and made this experience from food, service, care, compassion, kindness, and all things out-of-the-ball park kind of late lunch. I will absolutely return and hope my review and pictures being this meat market a ton more business. I can’t finish all of mine, but certainly«guys meal out» I give my full recommendation! Enjoy!

The brisket here is so yummy! Actually everything we had here was great! Brisket, chicken, fresh salads, potatoes, beans… we ate all of it. The staff was very kind and patient when we were making our selections. This is in a strip mall and the name on the building says D & R Market, which was kind of confusing. There also aren’t many places to sit, so keep that in mind. Thanks for the great BBQ!
