This is undeniably one of Lafayette’s hidden gems. The food is delicious with large portions and good prices. Some of the older reviews state that they are cash only but I am happy to announce that they now accept credit cards. The location was once probably prime but the surrounding area has turned into a high crime area so I would recommend ensuring that you’re finished with your meal and out of the area by dark. I would presume that this is why their seasonal hours have them closing shop around nightfall. However, go here and give this place a try. The burgers and malts are a must get. The fries are also phenomenal; reminiscent of the old Burger King fries before the government stepped in and ruined them. The staff is always friendly and quick with the food preparation. Your patronage here helps to support an iconic mom and pop establishment which is respectful enough to include an in memoriam on their window for a local fallen firefighter who was killed in the line of duty. The only thing I am disappointed about is that it took me this long to find this gem and would encourage everyone to give it a try sooner rather than later.

Budges is one of the many reasons I get excited for summer because that is when it opens. I love everything I have ever gotten here and that is saying a lot. My favorite is the crème de menthe shake which is by far the best shake I have ever had anywhere. I wish they would have more seating available because I honestly always get it to go but other then that I have no complaints!

Thanks to Unilocal for directing us to this local gem. We’ve gone several times, and have satisfied on all occasions. The only con is that it is a cash only place, but it’s is fairly cheap, so just grab some spare change and check this place out. We can only vouch for their ice cream, as that is all we have had, however they do offer other fast foods(burgers, fries,…) I usually get the strawberry flavor burst medium cone($ 1.99) and have been delighted by it, so much that it is what I usually get when I go. However, their flurries are a must try, and they come in a variety of flavors, ranging from oreos to snickers to reeses. Best part is that the chocolate brand of your choosing is crushed and is mixed uniformly throughout the ice cream so that you don’t have to worry of mixing it yourself as happens when ordering Flurries at other locations. If it were not for the cash only, I would consider giving Budges five stars, but on second thought, them not accepting cards is probably a good thing for us. Next time we head over to Budges, we’ll take pictures of their menu so that you can get an idea of what to expect.

Budges(pronounced Budg-eez) Drive In is a local favorite. I love their soft serve ice cream because it is the closest in flavor and creaminess to the ice cream stand I went to when I was a kid. It looks a little run down, but the servers are very friendly, the ice cream is creamy and delicious and the prices are very low. I had a black raspberry flavor twist cone — yum! They have great shakes, too. Try the peach shake.

Good ice cream and frozen treats, but you never really know when it’s going to be open. Usually it’s when the weather is nice, but you never know. Prices are good and service is usually pretty quick. Bring cash.

The name is misspelled on this entry, it’s Budgee’s. And it’s awesome! I love this place. I was eating here 10 years ago. Good onion rings, decent burgers. CHEAP. the all time best product here is the the Flavor Burst. They have tons of flavor options, and it’s delicious any way you get it. Standard Strawberry Flavor Burst with a cone is my standy by.(The«Sky» size is like 2 bucks and almost too much to consume at once!) they also have the ice cream that gets scooped out of a bucket, delish. you can get it dipped in chocolate, sprinkles, nuts etc. The twinkle toe dip is sprinkles and nuts. worth a try. They have great shakes and sundaes as well. CASHONLY! This is right by St Elizabeth Central hospital and there’s always someone there, even on a rainy, cold day in may. =]
