Great store! The people make the difference… Amanda is great, the manager is great. A perfect spot to browse, do some work, have a cup of coffee… an urbane environment to enjoy life.

Not much to mention about this Barnes & Noble; just about the same as any other one. The only thing worth mentioning would be how effective their cashiers are… When I was ready to pay there was a line of about five people ahead of me and between two cashiers they were gone in the blink of an eye… Very impressive :-)

Now that Borders on the levee closed, this is the only big box bookstore in Lafayette. This is pretty much your standard B&N. The deals aren’t as good as they were at Borders(B&N’s rewards club sucks) which might just be why they’re still around. It’s the closest bookstore to the mall. It has a Starbucks with free wifi. The CDs are WAY too expensive(Get rid of the music section and enlarge the book section or the seating. When I can both download the album instantly for half of what B&N is charging using their free wifi in the store, why bother?). Not a bad place to kill some time if you’re stuck by the mall, but for my money, I’d rather get my books from Buy the Book, Von’s, or Robots and Rogues, or drink the coffee and use the free wifi at Java Roaster, K. Dee’s or Buy the Book.

Seems like the Starbucks is a bigger draw in this cookie-cutter Barnes and Noble locale. Considering this place stays open well past mall hours, its hard to imagine they get much business outside lattes and cappachinos. A place I would frequent in my latter years at PU, it was great to return to this place.

I used to think that there was no real difference between Barnes & Noble and Borders, but now I’ve changed my mind. I prefer Barnes & Noble because their staff is friendly and knowledgeable, they have come out with their own e-reader, they now sell Vera Bradley bags, and their merchandise is generally not as over-priced as Borders. I love that Barnes & Noble offers free wi-fi and has several nice places to sit and read or talk with friends. It’s definitely one of the best spots in town to kick back with a good book or just browse. If you’re looking to buy books, you should go online for the best deal.

so the employees here are friendly and the prices way better than borders. they have a good selection of music and movies, if only they were as cheap in the store as they are on the website.
