Cute, free art museum in downtown Lafayette. The place isn’t too big and the art isn’t anything special, but they do offer classes and events.

I went by myself on Saturday and it was very peaceful. A great place to visit whether you are alone or with a group. Exhibits feature a variety of artists. Offers a variety of classes from pottery to painting.

What a surprise and FREE! Both contemporary art and traditional quilts this summer — something for everyone. The permanent collection galleries have an exhibit of TC Steele paintings on display — exhibitions changing throughout the year. Open 7 days a week from 11 – 4. A little gem in our community.

I can’t believe the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette is open daily from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. It’s great to take your children to during the day.

This is a gem that highlights rotating exhibits as well as its own amazing collections. It sponsors lots of arts-related outings and offers a terrific gift center. This summer, watch the downtown for museum-sponsored outdoor exhibit of wildlife that will feature lions, tigers and bears whimsically painted by artists.

We had a great time looking at all the lovely items in the galleries, in the shop, from the permanent collection and other paintings when we visited recently. Favorites are clearly the Brockenbrough paintings from the permanent collection as well as the quilt like cloth wall hangings by Ana Lise Hedstrom. There was tons to see here and much to like. It’s well worth a visit but most of it appears not to be wheelchair accessible(or at least we couldn’t see any elevators to the upper floor where most of the good stuff is, and the bathroom doorway was narrow).

Another nice resource for the community. A «working» art museum with galleries on two levels as well as an artist studio for pottery enthusiasts. Also contains a gift shop featuring art from local artists. Adjacent to a nice park.
