We decided to try this place for breakfast. What a huge mistake. After a 20 minute wait to be seated, the roof was being worked on an particles were dropping onto our table. Most people seemed to just ignore the noise and did not seem to be bothered by the random droppings. I asked to be moved to another area and we were moved by a very nice floor manager. After a lengthy wait, our breakfast arrived. Blah… eggs were runny even though I asked for a hard scramble. The biscuits were doughy in the middle from being under cooked and rushed out. The sausage was brown on the outside from a quick cook but was red on the inside from the rush method. Overall, we tried to remain positive since we were out with our family and did not want to make a scene and complain about the less than mediocre food that was clearly rushed and not cared for. The waitress seemed very slow and not really interested in knowing how we or others were enjoying our food. The worst $ 55 dollar breakfast we’ve had in a while. Will not go back and wonder why the place is packed with just lousy food, poor service, and nothing special about the place except all the country retail products to buy when you are forced to wait to be seated. This store should be a ½ star. Mistake for breakfast for sure… never again.

When you are going to be on the road all day you want a safe bet for breakfast. The Barrel is such a place. It’s really hard to mess up breakfast. They do it well. Nothing spectacular. They aren’t the Jordan of restaurants, they are Scottie Pippin — not jumping from the top of the key, flying through the air doing one-handed dunks, just driving the lane and dishing to the open man or taking the easy layup. There’s no risk involved at stopping at the Barrel. Just the promise of solid food, a chance to sit in a rocking chair on the porch if you so choose and a well stocked gift shop.

The food was great and the staff was friendly! I always have the best experience when I visit! I recommend trying the chicken pot pie!

Like Rudy’s, Cracker Barrel is always consistent with its food and quality service, and both of my trips to this location hold that bar to that same level. I went in early for breakfast and was told to seat myself, which that was a first for me. I was greeted by my server who was attentive with refreshing my coffee and my order. Falling far off my diet, I have Grampa’s Country Fried Breakfast with the Chicken Fried Steak, and I went with the Hash Casserole and eggs over-easy. The food was out about five minutes after placing my order. The food was good-as always, and like I said, that is consistent with all CB’s. It’s not fresh but it’s tasty and very filling. My coffee never went empty, and I really enjoyed the friendly waitstaff. I love the country store. I love to walk around it before or after a meal, and I did that today at this visit. Beyond that, CB is CB! I’d return if I was in the area again!

The food was delicious, price very very reasonable. Service was lacking, seems the waiter was just going through the motions doing the minimum to get by. I wasn’t in a hurry so it wasn’t an issue. I would go back.

Driving home to SA from Dallas during a recent wicked line of thunderstorms, we were hungry and wanting to get out of the terrible driving conditions on 35. We decided to stop into Cracker Barrel to get something to eat. We had practically no wait and the place was fairly full. My friend and I both decided to try the healthy choice BBQ chicken topped with chutney with cranberries and 2 sides. I chose salad and steamed broccoli. Our waitress was very nice and brought my salad out really quickly. Shortly after I finished my salad, our food came out. The chicken was tasty especially with the cranberries, that really made it sing in your mouth! The broccoli was kind of boring and not really cooked enough, it was fine for me, but my friend asked if he could switch for cinnamon apples and the waitress was really sweet about it. For dessert, they were out of the blackberry cobbler, which looked delicious :/so we decided to try the chocolate coke cake with vanilla ice cream. OMG, it was so good and warm! I must say, in the past I haven’t been wildly intrigued with Cracker Barrel, so this was a pleasant trip. I would recommend it to anyone in the area, or passing through like us!

As I have come to expect from Cracker Barrel, the food and service is good and consistent. While I may not normally take the time to review on a Cracker Barrel, I thought this experience deserved a review based on service. Nelson(according to the receipt) was fantastic! I would suspect he is a college student at Butler but wow, a bright future ahead of him for sure. He is someone who understands how to separate yourself from the crowd with quality service. I respect someone who is working their way through college and even though the job could be considered below you, never once showed it and only operated in the most professional way.

Good service, got in and sat right down. The waiter was there in just minutes with drinks to follow. The food was fresh and hot. For a roadside joint I’d recommend this place.

The food was good, but service left much to be desired. The quoted wait time was 15 – 20 minutes. After 40 minutes and 16 parties seated prior to us, we finally were seated. It took teaching the staff about hospitality before we were taken to a table. Absolutely unacceptable. The staff threw our menus on the table. Yes, it was busy but give a realistic wait rime, please.

Unlike other Cracker Barrels we’ve been to before, service was really fast on here. Waitress was running herself ragged but did a very good job taking care of all her customers. I wanted something light so I ordered the Clam Chowder in a bowl served with this tasty side of old fashioned thin crackers and hubby ordered the veggie plate. It hit the spot!

My chicken fried chicken was well seasoned and but had obviously sat in a warmer for hours because it was rock hard and dried out. We only received bread after asking and never received the cornbread that was supposedly in the oven. No refills on drinks despite being empty the entire meal. No smile from the server. He seemed annoyed when we asked for dessert. Poor all around experience.

Been to this location when I expected a line but I have never had to wait like the ones in Houston or bigger cities. Menu is the same and the customer service is on par with most. Expect more Baylor stuff in the shop then typical Old Country Stores. Good breakfast if you’re around and don’t want to wait for Collin St. to open up.

Mashed potatoes were cold. Service was lacking. Tables and chairs not cleaned off. Don’t think we are eating here again :(

The waitress was nice, although I am not a fan of having someone hovering and trying to take my drink order before I have even sat down. The food was horrible. I had the sugar cured ham with green beans and fried apples. The green beans and fried apples had been poured from a can and microwaved, the piece of ham was pretty nasty looking and the biscuits weren’t even completely cooked. I sent my plate back. My almost two year old pushed his Mac and cheese away and refused to eat after the first bite(I have never seen him do that) and my husband said his baked potato tasted like it had been sitting under the lights for hours. Never, ever, ever again.

I always have such high expectations for this place but it seems that no matter what location they always seem to fall short. The staff is excellent here, it’s just the food is lackluster, something is really lacking in the flavor department. I had a southwestern omelette and nothing was fresh tasting, my tomatoes were a pale pink. Pancakes were okay, I paid 5.50 for 2 ala cart, ouch.

Meh is the perfect review of this place. The food wasn’t bad enough for me to send it back but it also wasn’t good enough to return, that said this is Waco and the options for decent food is limited. I ordered the hamburger steak with a salad and green beans as a side. Hamburger steak was closer to medium well than medium, then they forget my gravy and onions. The«salad» consisted of 2 slices of cucumber, 4 cherry tomatoes, 4 croutons, and some iceberg lettuce. The green beans were not fresh or seasoned, these tasted like they were poured from a can and microwaved for 30 sec. Really the only thing that got this place 2 stars was the service, our waitress was really nice and handled our 7 person table like a champ. She was attentive and apologetic about the issues. Also our drink glasses never got below half full. Too bad the food is not fresh and most of it tasted like it came from a can.

This place is pretty cool. Their food is alright, but go for the service and for the country store experience. For lunch I highly recommend the meat loaf sandwich(w/cheese) and their fries. That combo is tough to beat. Do not suggest their tea, but their coffee and soft drinks are usually good to go. The staff are noted to be friendly and good to cater to even picky needs with a ‘no harm, no foul’ attitude.
