Safeway

This Safeway (Yelm Highway, Lacey) is improving over the past year and I would now say that the shopping experience is satisfactory, and on the rise. The pharmacy staff… bless them… is consistently friendly and helpful. And I believe the store staff are trying harder. It may be that competition from the new nearby Walmart Market Place has sharpened their step.
I noted that the store entry «impression» is more welcoming, and the feel more «homey» than their competition. The layout and location of many products baffles me, but it may be that I am so old school that it is just my age. But I have shopped here for 25 years! I figure canned goods are with canned goods. I wanted a can of pumpkin, not specifically for pies, and walked up and down the aisles for 10 minutes before I discovered it with baking goods.
Across the street at OFC, they have a person who «patrols» the store to assist. Safeway should put someone in a bright red and white shirt to watch for customers who need help. It is annoying and a sales loss when I have to wander the aisles to find what I want. Maybe next time I will just call on my smart phone and ask them!
The prices seem to be between Walmart (lower) and QFC (higher). QFC has more specialty items. I feel that the Safeway produce is considerably better than Walmart, and is much wider in selection than QFC. Staff wise, Safeway and QFC are similar, with Walmart in third.
The bottom line is I can get in and out of Safeway usually with want I want, without undue lines, at a reasonable cost, and with increasingly friendly staff. If they solve how to find things I don’t buy often, my opinion will go up a notch.

This is a difficult review to write. On one hand your prices are really great. The store has a great lay out, a good bakery, and your cashier’s are lively and funny. The thing that makes me irrate is that the lines at the checkout are always so long. There’s always only one cashier working at any given day at any given time. I’m not just singling you out either, this is a Safeway tradition no matter where you go. It’s insulting, truly personally insulting. Do you have a staffing problem, or do you just not care at all about your customers? Your bathrooms are also filthy by the way and your produce people are MIA and terrible at their job.

I love Safeway! The produce is awesome and they have a wide selection. Don’t even get me started on the bakery! They have almost everything you need. A little pricey but you get what you pay for as far as produce is concerned. I’m also a big fan of the ready made soups and bread bowls at the front. Easy and quick dinner when you’re in a bind!

The customer service counter staff are very unfriendly. No smiles. Grouchy ordering people to get into a single line. I avoid this store if at all possible.

This is my primary «normal» grocery store as it’s the closest to where I live. Up until a couple months ago I knew where everything was, but of course they had to completely rearrange the entire f’ing store to where you have no clue where anything is. Getting over that annoyance, it’s pretty decent. This safeway is not cramped like many of the others in the area, and they have plenty of self check out lanes for when you just need to quickly get what you need and get out. I highly advise older people that cannot work a smart phone to please avoid the self checkout so us younger folks can get out of here quickly.

Great prices. Outstanding Safeway prices for their almost everything including their brand chips and everything else. including their better than Doritos style, and other chips which are to excellent. Problem that I have is their meat department. It’s low quality. If you want a good steak or chicken then shop elsewhere. The produce is good but meat is questionable. Go to another store for good meat. pay a little more an enjoy your meal. The quality in their store brand products is excellent, other product prices are good; however the meat department where our family shops every week is a little weak. Thus taking the stores raking from a 5 to a 3.

This Safeway is horrible. Rude, unfriendly staff (especially in the deli). They used to have a very small organic/​natural food section but have gotten rid of that now for some reason. It’s also dirty and unorganized everywhere. Started going here about 8 months ago because my work is close to it and I had hoped it would get better but it’s only getting worse. I will continue to pray that Lacey gets a descent grocery store but until then I will drive the 5 extras minutes to the co-​op.

Probably not very fun being a traditional supermarket in this town, but at least everyone’s alternative to shopping at the Farmer’s Market and Trader Joe’s is a nice clean market with helpful staff and a big parking lot.

Safeway in general is a pretty ok supermarket. Their prices aren’t too bad. I go to this one on a regular basis. I shop for most of my groceries here. If I can’t find what I’m looking for it’s usually because it’s an asian specialty item, and while Safeway does have quite a bit of ethnic foods, they don’t have everything.
Service is always great, everyone is willing to help you find something.
The only thing different about this safeway that bothers me is the parking lot, and I’m not sure how much control they have over it. There are recycling dumpsters in the parking lot, and often people will park all wrong and it really does cause an issue sometimes.
This store is open 24 hours a day, which makes things convenient.
Safeway also delivers and you can shop online instead of visiting the store physically. I’ve not tried this yet, but probably will someday.
