I live in Seattle but I am frequently in the Thurston County area for work and family visits. Meconi’s is my favorite sandwich shop in the Olympia area. My high school buddy and I used to frequent this place back when they were just one tattered looking shop on Capital Way. Thankfully for all of us, they have expanded into four branches without sacrificing an ounce of quality. My default order is just a standard ham and turkey on wheat. Meconi’s sticks to the basics — good bread, good meat, and fresh vegetables /cheese. So –why four stars instead of five? I knocked one star off because I vastly prefer their cold sandwiches to their warm sandwiches(not that the warm sandwiches are bad). I reserve five star ratings for sandwich shops where essentially every item on the menu is impressive. What can I say? I guess have high standards for sandwich shops. Still, this place is very much recommended. I am sure it will remain my go-to sandwich shop in Olympia for years to come.

Had a great ½ veggie here. I don’t know how people can eat a «whole» as Meconi’s sammiches are sooooo filling. The meal was served in a jiffy —(For the quality vs subway or mcD’s, piddlin’ waits here are well worth it unless you have matters of national security matters to attend) And then 19 minutes can mean survival or nuclear holocaust, I guess. Now to an ongoing curiosity of all Meconi’s– toasting a sub costs 23 cents extra. Not 22. Not 24 nor the logical 25 cents(if there should be any charge at all). But a precise 23 cents. This is a cost-accountant’s wet dream! Pro tip: my 100 years as a road warrior taught me that clean restrooms are a sign of a well run restaurant. These are spotless!

No wait, fresh food, dog friendly patio, and awesome prices?! SOLD. Haven’t had a meatball sandwich that good in awhile. The bread was toasted to perfection, not drenched in sauce, and the meatball was flavorful and fresh! I will be back :)

It’s fine for a sandwich. For those with celiac stay away from here. They do have gluten free buns but after watching them prepare sandwiches they don’t know how to avoid cross-contamination.

We can rely on getting really great subs every time we go to Meconis — they have great consistency. Philly cheesesteak and Sausage with peppers are outstanding. Bread is fresh. Subs are large — be prepared. Staff are friendly and quick.

Go to Meconis for their Italian subs. Do NOT go to Meconis for their Chili — unless you like your Chili on the sweeter side. Certainly DONOT go to Meconis if you have the expectation of an EXCHANGE on an item recommended to you by the staff that you did not care for. Yup, I’m talking about the Chili. If I didn’t like it, I was encouraged to buy something else. No exchange. The manager needs to learn the value of a loyal customer. They should also understand the value of a cup of Chili when compared to the cost of a negative Unilocal review and word of mouth. It’s basic customer service. I hope that this is just the policy of this manager. If it’s a company policy, then don’t go to Meconis.

Outstanding sub sandwiches! Great prices! I’ve been here many times & never had a bad experience. On my first visit, I ordered a full turkey sandwich. I was surprised how huge it was! I have a big appetite, but half of that sandwich filled me up. I took the rest home and had it for lunch the next day… still yummy. Now I just order a ½ and am always filled up. Love the fresh ingredients… and they gladly add or remove whatever you want. The flavor is simply outstanding. Beats the hell out of Subway and Quiznos. And less expensive. Plus they serve beer by the bottle… not a great selection… but not bad for a sandwich shop. The dining area is good size, clean and has some privacy. You could take a date here for a casual lunch. The staff are well trained… fast and friendly.

One of our favorite family sandwich shops! The kids meals are well priced and the kids really enjoy them! My husband loves the hot sausage sandwich and I love the Philly. The half sandwiches are huge!

Love their subs — especially Cosmo style! They also hire the nicest people. I often call ahead and pick up my order, as sometimes the place is swamped. Great cookies, too.

Five stars yes. They are local chain. Have been around for years. The sandwiches are fantastic. They also offer soup, chips, salads, sodas, beer and pickles. Eat in or take out. Service is usually very prompt even during peak hours.

My friend and I visited Meconi’s subs following a hiking adventure at Tolmie State Park. We were famished! I was so happy to see Meconi’s newest location on the way back from the park. Their sandwiches are to die for! The bread is incredibly soft, the ingredients are fresh, and the salt/pepper/vinegar/oil combo make the sandwiches a cut above the rest. I have to admit that my eyes were bigger than my stomach. I ordered a whole turkey sandwich with a side of macaroni salad, but no worries, they have foil to pack the rest of your sandwich to go. I ate the rest of the sandwich for dinner, or was it as a snack? Either way, I inhaled the rest of the sandwich as soon as my stomach permitted. The location is extremely clean and the service was fast. They also have tables outside on the back patio, which we loved as it helped us soak up the limited Vitamin D that Washington has to offer. Will definitely return anytime I pay a visit to Lacey, WA.

Pretty good! They have a reasonable range of options and they come packed with food. I got a small and couldn’t finish it. They keep foil for customers to wrap up left overs. Drink options are not ideal but they have local chips available which is pretty cool.(Beware: The jalapeño chips are very hot!) Very open and welcome atmosphere. We will definitely eat here again.

Very disappointed!!! I was charged .23 cents to have my sandwich toasted and they wouldn’t let me get half my sandwich plain, they insisted I ordered 2 halfs. I know .23 cents isn’t lots of money. .buy seriously? I think they’ve expanded to much! I will never be back. Too bad… I like the food! :( I wrote this before I took a bite. now that I have… I wasted .23 cents for a barely toasted sub. Tasteless..

As far as sub sandwiches go Meconie’s is the top of the line. I’ve been going here for probably 20 years, since I was little. The sandwiches are still the same now as they were then. I only order two subs, turkey and the philly so that’s all I can speak for. They are both huge and always delicious. I like to get the philly to go even if I’m dining in because wrapping the toasted sandwich steams the bread a little. If you want the biggest sandwich for the money then hands down Meconie’s is your place!

Ok so this was our first visit to Meconi’s. I enjoyed it. I went with a Pastrami sub and let them do what they normally do, it was very filling and very tasty. I would have preferred no onions, but they weren’t particularly strong and there was a decent amount on there to where they could be easily picked off. I would describe the bread as naughty because I should have stopped half way through the first piece of sandwich but the evil delicious bread made me eat the entire half. I’m so stuffed AND I still have another full meal for tomorrow. This place reminds me of a family owned Italian place that was in San Diego when I was young but I can’t think of the name off hand but trust me it will come to me eventually. The sammich was delicious in a I will be back at least once a month kind of way. I would say the husband and I could split one if they turn out too soggy tomorrow after sitting in the fridge all night. I am going to say something shocking to most people who know me, and read my reviews … This was the best sammich I have had on the West Coast. Yep even better than Jersey Mikes!. This place is NOT expensive for what you get when you consider most sammiches at Subway run $ 7 add chips and drink and you are looking at $ 9 easily and I HATE subway I wouldn’t eat that mess voluntarily if it was free. The meat, cheese and veggies on this one were all fresh and of quality. Give them a try. I would give them 7 stars if possible because they get it Italian style grinders/subs are supposed to be oily and not dry and tasteless. The $ 9 sammich I had could easily be a meal for 2 avg. appetites or 3 small appetites.

I’m so glad they put a Meconi’s in the Hawks Prairie area. I love their sandwiches and salads. My fave thing to order here is the BLT. Just wish I had the option to add avocado.
