I’d like to begin this review by saying that whenever a customer requests to speak to a manager DONOT lie and tell your staff to tell the customer you’re too busy to come. Especially when we can see you just standing around casually talking and laughing with another employee. That is a major fail and completely unprofessional. This all happened after the fact that we received poor service. We sat down at our table and the chips and salsa was brought out. About 20 mins later we had to get up and grab our own menus. The waitress was not rude, but the service was poor. The cooks got a few of our dish orders wrong and our plates were brought out to us at separate times. The person whose plate they brought out first was finished by the time the last persons plate was brought out. Another major fail. Usually all the dishes are brought out at the same time. I understand if they’re busy or short staffed, but not once did anybody apologize or explain why we were receiving such poor service. Not until we requested to speak to a manager and the manager sent a different waitress did that waitress begin to apologize. She even admitted to seeing us sitting around without anyone helping us. My question now is why didn’t she say or do something? To top it off the food is mediocre so we won’t be returning. There was nothing about this place that made us want to return.

I use to bring my kids here to eat a lot when they were babies. But now it’s usually just my fiancé and I who sneak away to grab a bite. The food here is decent. I like the enchiladas. Customer service is decent. Tamales are pricey.

As I sit here reminded about how the conquistadors destroyed my people(Los Aztecas de Mexico) This small yet cool looking mom and pop Mayan restaurant takes me back to Colima mexico. Mi tierra(my land) with its decorative Latin art hand painted signs like they do in all the pueblos in Mexico. It’s spacious with patio seating outside with a canopy for cover. Decorated with plants, cute pin’atas, and ceiling fans. They have Mexican patterns of pottery and hand baskets wrapped around the couches. Lots of tile on the floor and walls typical Mexican restaurant. They also have a 70 inch TV showing soccor. On look and cleanliness 5 stars. Service was excellent. Carmen V. Was my server and she’s as beautiful as an Aztec queen and very nice to boot. Very kind hearted an attentive my drinks were never empty and there were about 10 people eating in her and she was by her self so service gets 5 stars CHIPS&SALSA The chips were crispy, light and not greasy one can tell they are homemade. The green chili was good but CAUTION its really hot! FOOD: I order tortillas and queso Frisco for an appetizer an, it was delisioso. The flour tortillas were hand made and the texture was soft and doughy. They tasted just like my abulita from Mexico. Brought a tear to my eye. The queso fresco was fresh with a texture that was delicate crumbly, moist, and mouth watering good. The corn tortillas were also good an, I recommend you try those with the queso(perfect combination. MAINMEAL: I ordered the flautas one of my favorite dishes to order at a regular restaurant. A Top notch flauta has a very crispy and delicate non greasy shell. Well’ this one was crispy but a bit wet(soggy) not to bad. I got two the chicken and beef. Not chicken is always better and it was no different this time either. The chicken was good and fresh and had a good taste to it. The beef was horrible and had a funky taste to it. Like the meat was bad or something, I did did not enjoy it at all. The plate comes with two flautas, rice, beans, avocado, and sour cream. The rice and beans were really good so, was the avocado and sour cream. It also came with some salad but I didn’t touch it, I ain’t no rabbit! My Drink was an Horchata and it was really good! So its cool a little restaurant. With plenty of parking.

Horrible! This is my second time coming to this place and I felt like an outsider. I called in to order so I don’t have to wait for a long time and when I was finally talking to someone she just couldn’t wait for me to decide what I would like to get and she hanged the phone up on me. Like these people are seriously rude to their costumers. When I called back I asked her why she did that to me and she gave me the excuse there is others that are calling. Seriously? When I got here I still have to wait a while! Just because I don’t speak Spanish they simply ignored my brother and I. I know they are busy, but the way they made me feel was very unpleasant. Never recommend this this place to anyone. I rather take a chance on other restaurants.

I stop by since I wanted something quick and good so I place my order to go and the wait was a bit to long to serve my menudo to go and I also order tamales, the tamales were quick to go but as I was waiting I could see the the cook was taking his time doing I don’t know what and after a while of waiting I got up and the cook just serve it from a big pot when he could have done that in the first place an of course I ask for everything that goes in the menudo and the waitress was like what, like if she didn’t know what I talking about. The menudo was good but the grain could have been softer. I am most likely to return.

Been coming here for a few years now because the service is amazing! It’s nice to spend time with friendly servers who wait on you promptly, get drink refills without having to ask, and who smile from ear to ear. This is the reason I keep coming back. I’ve tried the chilaquiles, machaca, and a few other dishes. They are solid, but don’t have a lot of flare. What is good, though, is their salsa. Wow, that makes my taste buds happy! Do you want fresh, handmade, tortillas… This is your place. The corn tortillas are nice and thick… Goodness! Restaurant is clean and comfortable.

Been here twice and loved it! Food taste very authentic and homemade. The servers are fast and friendly. Also +1 for the manager, he has one of the best customer service I’ve seen in a while. Definitely will keep coming here.

My husband brought me here for breakfast /lunch what a joke. I used to love eating here I’ve been here several times I will never come back again. It was fairly empty we were seated right away. It took almost a hour to get our food. Not one person checked on us to see if we needed anything. We overheard the manager telling someone that they are not even busy. I watched a man and his child get their food pay leave and another party sit in the table that the man and the child were at then order and then get their food also. We called the manager over he said he would make things better. He stated that the girl that took our order left and never relayed the order to the other waitress. I was so mad that I couldn’t even eat. I got my food to take home in a box and then was brought a bill for 30.89! I just paid 30.89 to be treated like this. Really! I explained to the manager I can’t believe that I’m paying 30 to be treated like this. He said oh I understand but his body language showed he didn’t care one bit as he took my money, He gave me a 2.28 discount. Really 2.28! What an insult! I advised him I will never come back here again. I will spend my hard earned money elsewhere. They need me as a client more than I need them as a restaurant. There are plenty of great places in LA puente to eat that treat their customers with courtesy and respect! THISISNOTONEOFTHEM! I’m not sure what is going on in this place but obviously the manager needs some hospitality training and the owner really needs to clean up shop and provide their staff with proper training. What a horrible experience. Never ever ever will i come back! Part of me feels that i was discriminated against becuase I was the only person in there that didn’t speak spanish! Especially when people that got there after me got their food before me. So the bottom line the customer service sucks! Along with the management!

The food is very delicious, price fair, the whole made tortillas are delicious. The only bad experience, parking is somewhat a pain, and the kitchen is literally right in the middle. So all the cooking smell is all in the dining area. It could be good for some or bad for some.

Salsa, salsa, salsa omgoodness in your mouth. The corn tortillas are another of my favs from here. The waitresses are very nice but not attentive. They could step up their game on service. They know a little English but refuse to use it even when the customer doesn’t know Spanish(like myself). The food is good here! The service sucks & the women that work here make you feel uncomfortable because you’re in a Mexican restaurant but don’t speak Spanish.

This is our second time coming to this restaurant. Once again the food was delicious. Really Mexican authentic food. The tortillas hechas a mano with their queso fresco is great. My wife had the huevos divorciados for breakfast she love them. I had the huevos rancheros they were excellent. This place is great. The service is good. As soon as you step in they greet you and the server are very friendly and attentive. If you’re ever around this part of town I recommend it.

I was a chef for 9 years, I come here like 3 – 4 times a week, enough said. I don’t know what all the low reviews are about, I get great service every day. I got sat down immediately on a Sunday rush at 10am. I wouldn’t change anything about this restaurant. The owner has been here for many years and this place is pretty much historic to the regulars who enjoy the 5 star authentic Mexican cuisine.

I was super excited to come here because there are not very many AUTHENTIC Mexican food places around where I live. I love going to mom and pop restaurants versus chains whenever I can. So while in the neighborhood a friend suggested we get breakfast here and I was very excited. The host was a young male who was very nice and made sure the booth we sat in was comfortable for all 5 of us. I appreciated that. Once we got seated a young lady asked us in Spanish what we wanted to drink. We ordered and the drinks came pretty quickly. Next our waitress came and took our order-she spoke to us in Spanish too. We ordered and got their delicious homemade tortillas and queso fresco to start off with. THANKGOD we ordered this to start because our food took almost an HOUR to come out! As we were waiting, just WONDERING where the hell our food was, our waitress was no where to be found. No updates or anything on how much longer we would have to wait. Eventually we were able to spot her and flagged her down but all she could says was ’ yes, yes– coming’ to us like she was just shutting us up. HORRIBLE customer service. She was one of the older ladies here. When we got our food, all the plates came at different times and by the time the last persons meal came we were all pretty much done eating! And no our waitress was not apologetic and didn’t even address the issue. We asked her if we could have more tortillas and she brought us some. Well… little did we know that she charged us for them! Didn’t even give us a heads up or anything. You would think after making us wait so damn long she would give them to us as a courtesy, but NOPE. Guess that’s how they roll here. As far as food quality– everything was pretty good. The people in my group who had carne asada said it was delicious. I had the chillaquilles and I was not very impressed. I could probably make the same at home. The potatoes that were served with my chillaquilles were nasty and smushy. I actually thought it came with rice. Well thats my experience with this place. Guess you’ll have to judge it for yourself and hopefully you wont have the type of experience we did.

I’ve eaten a lot of Mexican food in my lifetime that I can honestly say that I’ve had better! This place had their own parking lot, but it’s kind of small, so you can always park in the street if they’re packed. I was grossed out when the waitress had clean the table and then used the same towel to wipe down our seats. To top it off our utensils were dirty. Hopefully I won’t get sick after leaving here. Fingers crossed. We ordered camarones al mojo de ajo(garlic soaked shrimp), asada y chiliquiles(beef and tortillas in red sauce), and guacamole. Like I said I’ve had better at other places. Flavors were definitely lacking in their food. I didn’t even finish my food! I was still hungry leaving this place. Their handmade tortillas and salsa were yummy though. Salsa was a bit spicy.

Great service, delicious authentic Mexican food and the oh so so yummy handmade flour tortillas is what keeps bringing me back to this place. Oh and not to forget the tamales of course. My favorite and yes it is a pretty simple dish but to me and my fellow Mexicanos the beans, queso fresco, and handmade flour tortillas is quite simply very delicious. The waitresses are super nice and your cup of coffee or drink will never go empty so you must definitely give this place a try !!
