The Consignment Shack

This place was a great find! I went looking for lamps and there was a large selection at very reasonable prices. I ended up buying 3 lamps and a bunch of knick knacks for $ 16 ! They do discounts on items that have been there more than a month. I’ll be coming back here again for sure.

I’ve been wanting to go into this shop for quite a while, always lots of enticing things outside. Today while I was getting my car smog checked at the great place on the corner, I went in. Found some really cute things. Lots of interesting things in there. Happily it was their 3-​year-​anniversary, so everything is ½ price through tomorrow. I’m a happy camper! And the two ladies that were there were very nice and pleasant to work with. :-)

I stopped by the store and looked around to see. I found a couple items and asked the person working there, don’t have her name but big blondish short haired woman, about the items. I asked what it was, what’s it used for etc… The woman rudely answered, that she doesn’t know.
She pointed to the label and «read» it for me as if I could not read AND would somehow give me insights into that thing (item)… RUDE! So, I didn’t say anything and asked something again. She stated rudely. FOR THE THIRD TIME NOW, I TOLD U, I DON’T KNOW WHAT IT IS OR FOR!!! Gosh gee willy nilly… I saw her happily assisting others and thought I would get the same treatment, but no way in heck.
AGAIN…RUDE!!! So I looked around at the item for another few seconds and then put the item down next to the first item I picked out. I then walked out to go and get my money to pay and when I returned both items were gone from the place she said I could put them while still shopping. The woman walked in after I returned and «jumped» exclaiming…“OH, your back! I thought U left!” I said no, went to my car for a second. I said, «your a highly presumptuous person, not good in business or customer service.» She wasn’t pleased and after the sale, said in a snide manner, «Thanks for visiting!» I responded…“Thanks, but, I know u don’t mean it. «She wasn’t pleased.
So.I am not sure what sparked her rudish manners but it definitely feels discriminating.
I just read Nancy’s comments on my review of the store, how interesting I find her comments on another unsatisfied customer inviting them to give her store a «second chance», but somehow dismissing my experience as «illogical? Hmm… seems a bit weird. Thanks again… AWESOME! OOHH and SOOO AMAZING!

High end vintage pieces. For those who are looking for well made classic pieces check it out! They are not cheap but you get what you pay for. The pieces have allot of history and detail. This is a interior designers play ground. They are helpful in loading as well. So for those of you who say the prices are to high please go educate yourselves. There is a college right down the road.

Super disappointed — this place is not for the discriminating. Prices are high for rough pieces. Definitely won’t be back.

This place is WAY bigger than I expected. Lots of unique furniture (some 90s, but mostly true vintage/​antique), they also have small knick knacks, lots of glassware. I bought some vintage Japanese post cards and an oxblood jewelry box. Keep your eyes peeled and you might find an unexpected treasure.

I LOVE this place. Kelly is awesome– friendly and funny. And makes the experience enjoyable. She is not even a tiny bit pushy and does not try to up sell. Both times I’ve been there I told her what I was looking for (something to use as a tv stand and a colored accent piece) and my price range. She immediately showed me around the store and what items she thought would be best for me and then left me to continue to look around and decide what I want. She always helps me bring my stuff to the car and fit it in– now that’s customer service! The store is beautiful also, nicely decorated with their items for sell. (Let’s face it– most consignment places look like 20 people emptied out their old storage units and shoved it all into one small store). Overall, I love coming here even if it’s just to look around (there isn’t any judgment or dirty looks for not purchasing coming from Kelly).

These ladies are AWESOME!!! such great customer service I swear! I had an old house that my ex INSISTED we furnish from Jerome’s. Everything was so «matchy matchy’ and I HATED IT! Not to mention every piece of furniture fell apart within a year. I have a new place now and I am SOOOO not a nick nack person but these ladies know their stuff!!! They consign really cool items and the fun is digging through it all to find your prize pieces! Half of my house is decorated from this place with the other half being from the second best co-​sign place in town. I have had only 2 issues in the last 1 ½ years I’ve purchased here… one was a stand alone speaker I bought (think beats pill) it was blown :(but I am careless with my receipts, knew I was taking a chance buying it and didn’t mind wasting the 10 bucks I paid for it! The other issue was with the flag… I bought the most AMAZING, antique, priceless American flag from them… I was in love the second I saw it. I went today and they had another one just like it but it was over $ 100 more than what I paid for the last one :(I just chalk that up to me getting a killer deal am knowing that you have to jump on whatever you find or it’s gone!!! I’m picking up a sleeper loveseat tomorrow… one I’ve been looking for for years and BAM! They have one and it’s PERFECT!!!
They just opened a store in OB for their deeply discounted items! I will drive there from Alpine to check it out! THATs how cool this store is! Keep up the good work ladies!

Super awesome and helpful! The women that helped me were very attentive and definitely gave me a bargain for buying more pieces. I am planning a wedding and found tons of dessert, and dinner plates! I also found some cute teacups and beautiful vases. I am very excited to return back to this place as I need more stuff!

I just met my NEW BFF TODAY– shhhhh… don’t tell her but we’re moving in when she closes up shop tonight. I mean there is simply no reason why you wouldn’t — the only thing this place is missing is a reasonably priced kitchen sink (oh wait… I’m sure it’s in there too!).
But seriously — this place is super cool, fun, and the prices… sheesh… very reasonable. I noticed another « Unilocaler» wrote «way overpriced» — you must have missed your turn on the way to Goodwill. I just left with a Limoges wash basin (sans pitcher) for … well I can’t tell you but… I know what its worth and I know what I paid… and someone made off like a bandit ;)… several diecast Tonka trucks for my PeeWee, an antique blown-​glass Japanese fishing buoy for my other not-​so-​PeeWee, and a «Bob the Builder» movie (thrown in for the low cost of love).
Although I don’t live around the corner– will it be worth a trip back??? HECK YEAH… if for no other reason than to hang out on the sofa in the front room for the day to see what new goodies comes in (that I have to have or I’ll simply die).

Go here if you want to pay top dollar for vintage items. Waaayyy over-​priced compared to other vintage shops. A few things were nice but probably priced twice (or more) what you would pay elsewhere.

Kelly and Ashley are awesome and their collection of consignment vintage items is great — There’s a wide assortment of goods from mint vintage items to total rehab candidates. My bedroom set is from the consignment shack — a gorgeous mid-​century set that is great exactly as is.

The ladies were so nice and funny! It’s an adorable little shop with lovely treasures at wonderful prices! You must stop in if you are in the neighborhood! You won’t regret it! :)

What a great way to earn extra money with no hassle and no work on your part! Nancy is AWESOME! The store is great and they are so personable and friendly.

I went here for the first time today looking for a desk and chair for my office. At first I didn’t really see what I was looking for. However, Kelly was so helpful and I actually went home with an awesome table and chair for my place. She gave me a deal I couldn’t resist and even helped me disassemble and put it into my car. I couldn’t wait to put it together at home. I’ll for sure be back again!

After looking at other reviews I made the drive to Consignment Shack (20 miles from home!) I LOOOOOVE this store and love the owners. They seems to have a huge variety of items and price points. They helped load stuff into my truck with chipper attitudes. They clearly love what they do and now find myself inventing excuses to go to La Mesa! You will not regret checking them out.

I used to live by this place but I never saw it then. I checked it out today. It was big. They had so much stuff. They have alot of furniture so this is a great thrift store for that. It’s a nice place but I think alot of the furniture is a bit pricey. Great place to check out for vintage items though.
Parking is next to a taco shop. The lady that works there was greeted us and was very nice.

Finally a place like this has made its way to La Mesa. I am a thrift store junkie, so when I drove past this place I knew I had to stop in. Great selection of all sorts of stuff and super friendly owner.
The only con is that it is closed two days a week… but hey everyone needs a break.

Great little find! I was just driving by the other day and stumbled upon this newly-​opened gem. Lots of great and unique furniture pieces and interesting vintage finds. My friend and I restore old furniture (ReFab Furniture) and turn them into bar stations and we are always hunting for the next project so this place is great! The ladies there are very helpful and mentioned they get new items every week so I’ll have to pop in to see what’s new:) being so close to home is a great bonus!
