The best sour tomatillo sauce on the enchiladas I’ve ever had. Been here 4 times now(enchiladas seizes) and ordered the same plate. Consistently amazing, and service is always on point. Will continue to come in the future.

The food was great, the chicken tortilla soup was well done with fresh cheese and avocados slices. The fajtas was 4 out 5 stars the fresh avocado slices and the Groditas plate was also 4 out of 5 stars also the freshness of the plate and good flavor the actual gordita was well done not doughy like other places but… you knew that was coming, the atmosphere is lacking, the restroom are not well maintained and overall cleanliness is a 3 out of 5 stars. The service was great friendly and fast, prices are good. So if you’re hungry and LaTorta is closed this is your next best option. LAeats

Steak fajitas were dry and not sizzling when they came out. I was surprised you do not get guacamole or sour cream with it. They charged me an additional $ 8 for that. Not going back there again.

This is the worst Mexican food I have had in a long time. Who puts Rosemary in salsa? The food is super bland and just S$@&.

Haven’t been here for years but decided to go while visiting my family. I enjoyed it ! Tasted authentic and not over salted like some other mexican chain restaurants. Service was great too !!

Maybe this place has improved, or maybe people in La Mesa are very critical. I brought my family of five here and was very happy considering that this is a franchise restaurant. I loved the Sonora Fundito.

Saturday 12:30PM. For lunch hour it’s not too busy here. We were seated quickly and service was fast. Wonder what it would be like if the place was even half filled? Food was plentiful and filling, but Mex food is always fulfilling… maybe it’s the bowl of chips and salsa prior to our meal. Good experience overall. Appears to be another typical Mex restaurant in San Diego.

I almost broke my Tooth eating a fish taco at Por Favor! As I was eating a fish taco I bit into something hard and I thought it could be a bone but I realized it was actually a large metal staple. I asked for the manager and I showed her the large staple that was in my taco. She did not seem surprised, she said it came from the lettuce box. She said do you want another one? I thought she was joking I wanted to say«no I don’t want another staple taco». She left and never returned. This place is dirty especially the restroom and kitchen. To top it off they have horrible service. If I were you go eat somewhere else! Some one call the Health Department. Okay I’m done

So far I’m sitting here eating salsa and chips only because I’m starving. The salsa tastes like tomatoes that’s it! I added salt, now it tastes like salted tomatoes. LOL No flavor! Well you can taste a bit of the oregano. I’ll conclude this review when I get my food. I’m really nervous. I came here a very long time ago and it was good food. We will see… Ok, do we are done not eating. Haha I never complain but I did this time. I told the manager that the food had no flavor at all! I mentioned that I never complain, but that no one should eat food with no flavor. I asked her, is everyone drunk or something.(Street fair going on) she said no one had complained. Well I guess no-one has taste buds tonight but us. LOL Pot favor needs help fast! New chef! I’m going to find a taco shop cause I’m hungry.

Por farvor, more like no thanks! I wanted to eat at this place. However when I went into the restroom to wash my hands and turned on the lights several roaches ran back into the wall! Scary!!! I left right away. Imagine the kitchen. :(

Worst tostada ever. They turned the bowl over to make it look like there was more. No flavor. Waitress put me in a booth on the other side of the restaurant and promptly forgot I was there. She was not very personable. Also, entry door was falling off hinges. Overall very bad experience.

This place was recommended to me by a friend who lives a couple of blocks away. We walked there with our young Sons. The second we walked in, we were greeted, seated, and given menus. Within a minute we had Chips & Salsa, and our drink orders were being taken. My friend comes here for the Margaritas, but I didn’t try one. The Chips & Salsa are great! Thin cantina-style chips, and the salsa is fantastic! Not any heat to speak of, but the taste was still really good! I ordered the Carne Asada plate. It was huge, but mostly beans & rice. The steak was good, very juicy. It had a roasted chile on it that helped the flavor along. Guacamole came in a little cup made of red cabbage for a nice presentation. A small handful of lettuce came with a bit of tomato. I ordered flour tortillas that were hot. thin, and tasty. I ate half the steak straight up, and made little burritos with the rest plus the other ingredients. Good Meal. My friend ordered her usual Margarita, and a Quesadilla plate. It came out huge as well to my surprise! The Quesadilla,(which I would never order at a restaurant normally) came out not only filled with cheese, but covered in melted cheese. Impressive,…for a Quesadilla. My Son ordered Taquitos(or as San Diegans call them, «Rolled Tacos») from the kids menu. It came out on an adult plate, plenty of food for a child! I expected processed frozen taquitos, but what came out here handmade shredded-beef taquitos. The were bigger than most as well. LOTS of beef stuffed in them. I tried one, the texture was on point, and it had good flavor. They served as much beans & rice on this plate as an adult entrée. Next time I come here with my kids, and order from the kids menu; I will order something A La Carte, and take half of their beans and rice, because that is WAY too much food for an average child. Not that I’m complaining. My friend’s Son was being finicky, and only wanted Chips & Guacamole. I had guacamole on my plate, and it was good, but needed a spoonful of salsa in my opinion. My Iced Tea was great, and I never saw the bottom of my glass. My Son had Water. The restaurant was very clean. The service was pleasant and humble. Perhaps I’ll bring the Wife next time we’re in town.

If I could give this place a 0 I would. I have a speech impairment and I ordered a drink and my waiter refused me. Awesome I’m well in my 30s my friends were appalled. After this I refused to order food but my friends did and they said the food was bland(everything that was ordered) they were sure it was dropped on the floor thanks to my disability. We won’t be back.

Sat outside with my husband and toddler this evening. It was clean, the service was very good, and the food was great! My husband ordered the Sonora Fundido. We both thought it was delicious! I was impressed with the quality of the shrimp. I got the Punta de Filete, which wasn’t quite as good as my husband’s food, but I still thoroughly enjoyed it. The steak was cooked well. I often find it chewy in a dish like that, but this was just right. It came with rice and beans, which I thought were decent. The only thing that I wasn’t crazy about was the salsa. It was fine, but it wasn’t the style I like. We’ll definitely be back to this place.

I have been to wanting to come here for over 15 years now. A few places still recommend this place. I guess it really did have a good reputation . I went last night(Saturday night around 7:30PM). The first thing I noticed was the store front was in serious need of paint. This is always a bad sign. A good business owner understands that a restaurant should be pleasing to the eyes. The staff was VERY nice and accommodating, so it always hurts when you know people are really trying but they are not getting the support of the business owner/management. Take down those old pinatas! This is not rustic, it’s run down. The drinks were very good, chips and salsa, good, guacamole was ok. My daughter did not like the tortilla soup. Carnitas were good, but kinda dry for me. I noticed the place was pretty empty… I would not return.

This place just ain’t what it used to be! I had become a fan back in the late 90s. Fast forward to today, and I am no longer a fan. Recently, we happened to be in the area and I took my boyfriend here for lunch. He ordered the Taco Grande, which was my all-time favorite menu item. I had the chicken Flautas. First of all, I noted how rundown the restaurant appeared. But when we were served, it was all a joke. Iceburg lettuce in his salad, when the menu specifically states Romaine. He wondered why there wasn’t dressing in the salad, and proceeded to eat it as is. But now that I’ve read other Unilocal reviews, learned that dressing options had never even been offered to him. The tomatoes looked like ghosts, they were so pale and unripened. My flautas were soggy, but the chicken filling was a good stewed chicken mix with peppers and tomatoes. And, the prices aren’t reasonable to boot.

Haven’t even had my food yet but I have to review. The drinks here are mediocre and it’s been about :45 minutes on a slow day and I haven’t gotten my food. Ok, after we got the food they did give us a discount for waiting so long.

This was«okay». I love Mexican food. This was Okay Mexican. Not fantastic. I understand it is «traditional» Mexican food, so maybe that just isn’t my cup of tea and if traditional what you are after you may love it. I wanted some thing light and vegetarian so got the nachos without chorizo, and a Cadillac margarita. The drink was nice, the food, «okay». It wasn’t bad, it just didn’t wow me. If you are in the neighborhood and just looking for a quick bite like we were, I’d definitely recommend it. I’ve lived in Texas and love Tex Mex as well as New Mexican Mexican. In my book, this was a disappointment by those standards, but still tasty enough and the(appetizer!) portions were huge so I definitely didn’t leave hungry.
