Kim spent about 5 minutes on our first appointment asking questions and listening to my answers. My hair is very fine and there’s not much of it. I HATE spending time with «products» and styling; I want to shower, blow it for one minute and look like I’m 29 again! Tough order… not only because that was more than 40 years ago!
I’ve waited a week or so to post because I wanted to know how this cut would wear, and if I could «do it myself». IT DID & I CAN!

AT LAST!!! After a diligent 2 plus year search I have found my hair stylist. I have tried stylist in all areas of San Diego County and in all price ranges without success. Kim, at Hair Love Design, in La Mesa, was recommended, so I thought I’d «just see» what she would do. Kim not only listens to what you want done, but she has the talent, knowledge, desire, and ability to do it. That is the perfect combination!!!
She begins with a real consultation, not a few quick words, about your hair. Kim asks questions about your desired basic style, if your hair will do what you want done, variations you will want to be able to do, the amount of time you want to spend on your routine styling, upkeep and maintenance. She really listens. Then, when you are both confident of what is to be done, she begins with a relaxing aromatherapy neck and shoulder massage! Only then, do you get a great haircut. It is such fun just spending time at this salon with Kim, and I look forward to my next visit. Yes, it’s a visit, not appointment. The experience is like going to see a friend!!! Kim, thank you for an excellent hair cut and I’ll see you again soon.

WOW!!! What an amazing experience! I was not expecting all that personalized attention. Upon arrival I was given a tour of the eclectic looking salon. Then we had a very lengthy conversation about my unruly, obnoxious and down right rude hair, what my expectations were, what was realistic, and what wasn’t. She looked at the pictures I brought and told me what was possible and what wouldn’t work due to my hair structure. She then gave me an incredible shoulder and neck massage that left me soooo relaxed I have no words. Then came the haircut. She showed me how to style it so not only would great that day but great everyday. This is the best haircut I’ve ever received, hands down. It exactly what I was hoping for. Thank you Kim, you will be seeing me again :)

My hair was a mess when I walked in. I hadn’t had it cut or colored in a long time. She got the highlights perfect and managed to make my hair look longer while cutting off several inches. It’s the best hair appointment I think I’ve ever had! Definitely recommend.

Kim is the best! I have crazy curly hair that I can never decide what I really want to do with. She never fusses at me for wanting to go long, then short, dark, then light. She has always guided me to the style and color that looks best with my coloring and bone structure.
Additionally she is kind, caring and thoughtful when she cuts my daughters (wavy) hair. She is patient with her and is guiding her how to make smart choices with her hair.
We are back in San Diego now, but I would fly back here from the East Coast for Kim to cut and color my hair. Once I found her I never let anyone else touch my hair. She is truly loves her clients and puts her heart and soul into every hair cut and color.

I went to Kim for the first time well over 10 years ago. I asked a random stranger to tell me who cut her hair and she pointed me in the direction of Kim. When I first met Kim I was put at ease knowing that she took the time to understand my hair needs and my concerns. She’s knowledgeable and has fun creative ideas that I was comfortable with. Kim is a master at listening to what a client wants and delivering a top notch haircut/​color every visit.
I recently asked her to talk to my daughter about taking care of her very thick wavy/​curly hair and give her a fresh cut/​style for her promotion. Kim set aside plenty of time to have a mini tutorial on how my daughter could style her hair without damaging it. Kim made sure that she understood how to take care of her hair by having her practice right there in the salon. My daughter left feeling confident knowing that she could reproduce the same look the next day and excited to show off her new long layered hairstyle.
I always walk out of the salon feeling refreshed, stylish, and happy that Kim Creekmore is my hair artist.

I became an instant fan today. I got an incredible haircut from Kim. If I could give more than five stars, I absolutely would. It was more than just a mere haircut though, it was a truly wonderful experience.
I’ve never met anyone who took that much time during a consultation to get to know me and my hair. Kim made sure that she understood what I was looking for and how I normally style my hair. She asked a lot of questions and more importantly, she listened!
After the consultation I got a neck and shoulder massage with my choice of aromatherapy oil. Talk about relaxing. I almost forgot why I was there. Even the shampoo was relaxing. By the time I got back to the chair I was so relaxed I wasn’t at all worried about my hair. Not that I needed to be. Kim is a total professional. I found her on Unilocal and was very impressed by her credentials and her perfect ratings. Also the fact that she specializes in curly hair was just a bonus for me.
Finally I managed to get a cut that works for my unruly hair. I liked that Kim also told me if I was having trouble styling it I could contact her for help. When I set up my appointment she had also told me I could send her photos of any hairstyles I liked or bring them with me. She’s very approachable and easy to communicate with. And also extremely organized. When I booked my appointment I got an email and text confirmation, then a reminder the day before. I need those reminders, and they’re much appreciated!
The salon is located in downtown La Mesa in a law office building, upstairs. They have parking set aside specifically for salon clients only. It’s a charming 1930’s building that used to be a hotel, and the salon itself is beautifully decorated and very inviting.
If you’re looking for a talented hair stylist, look no further, the lovely Kim is your gal. She’s beautiful, skilled, and friendly. Pretty sure you don’t need anything else. Maybe a gigantic birthday cake, but that’s a different review.

Kim is so amazing at what she does, and she’s just an all-​around pleasure to deal with. I have thick, curly hair, which is not the easiest to cut into a flattering shape. I’ve had countless haircuts done in high-​end salons over the years, with the results ranging from terrible to meh, but then I found Kim, and have since had a haircut that people literally stop me on the street to compliment daily. Dealing with my hair was always a chore before finding Kim, but now I have so much fun with it that I actually look forward to doing it each day.
Kim really listens to what you say and will give you the exact style you want. But when I don’t know how to describe what I want, or am unsure and ask for advice, she is always willing to offer her expertise in helping me figure it out. She obviously really cares about her clients and wants them to be happy with her work.
She’s also just such a great person who will have fun with you and make you feel comfortable while you’re in her chair. I really look forward to my appointments with Kim and could not recommend her more. She is the best.

Kim is amazing. I love her funky style and her creative hair senses just explode! I have had long hair for most of my life, and I was ready for a change. I was referred to Kim by one of my friends who, also like me is very particular when it comes to hair. She specified that Kim lives for short cuts, as well as simple trims.
Kim’s forte is definitely short cuts. I was anxious and very excited to try her out. She did not disappoint, at all. The salon is a bit hidden away, but it is a definite gem! They offer hair products as well as apparel, it’s chic and cute!
She is very attentive to details and asks all the right questions. Depending on your lifestyle and how you’d like to maintain your mane, she keeps all of that in mind. That is very helpful if you ask me. She had me with her skills, and is definitely going to keep me around for a long time. I absolutely love my short cuts each time, and can not express how happy I am to have found such a sweet stylist.

Kim knows how to make you feel like a new woman.
Classy, girly, shabby chic, almost hidden on Palm Ave, it is a treasure you will want to find. This historic building leaves signage a problem, but Kim found us outside, waving from the upstairs window, and came down to greet us.
After a brief tour, a glass of wine, a neck massage, the stylist begins her craft.
I took my mom for a new do and thought this is the place! Kim is worth her fee!

I love Kim, I had to track her down after she left Gila Rut. So glad I did, my hair was in desperate need of her hands. As usual she did a perfect job! Been going to her for over 3 years, I found my forever hairstylist! I absolutely love this girl :)

I have been to her a few times for a hair cut, each time she listens and cuts my hair perfectly. More recently I decided to try out coloring my hair (for the first time!). The end result wasn’t exactly what I had hoped for, so I hesitantly emailed her about it. She was so quick to respond to my concerns in a reassuring way and within the next week I was back in the chair getting it redone– to perfection! I am so happy with my hair color and cut, thanks to Kim listening and being open to the feedback!
I would recommend her and follow her no matter where she goes!

Kim is the best! I walked in feeling nervous (and embarrassed) about my short hair and she made me feel completely comfortable. She talked to me about what I liked and didn’t like and gave me a cut that surpassed anything I imagined!!! She explained everything as she was styling and it was so helpful considering no one in the history of my short hair (15+ years) had ever explained anything. If you want short and easy Kim is the best kept secret in La Mesa!!! Color is next and I will let you know how fabulous it turns out!!!
Update!!! After my 3^rd visit and fabulous color I can let my hair air dry and be out the door with no product Kim truly is an artist and such a sweetheart!!!

I’ve been seeing Kimmy for about 5 years now, and I couldn’t be happier. She’s personable, professional, and overall amazing. She’s only gotten better over the years as previously, she only used to cut my hair. More recently, she’s also been coloring my hair as well, and I’ve never been disappointed with the results.
Kimmy takes the time to consult with you in every appointment, and even though I’ve been with her for years, she never assumes that she knows what I’ll want. She offers suggestions and her expertise and takes the time to answer every question thoroughly.
I have and will continue to go to Kimmy for all my hair needs. She’s the best!

Wow! My experience with Kim was awesome! I was seen on a very last minute appointment, and really she didn’t have to make that extra three plus hours for my hair appointment. She stayed late and took the time to pamper me. The first thing I noticed about Kim was that as she walked her client out she said goodbye and told her she looked beautiful. The shop is fabulous! They have a small boutique area and the rooms are bright and beautifully decorated in a shabby chic style, it’s a very comfortable and welcoming space. Kim started my appointment with an aromatherapy neck massage. Really it was heaven. She spent time really talking about my hair, (yeah yeah, every stylist asks you want right?- well Kim actually listened and discussed back with me what she could do, fix, change and keep. Then she reviewed color and ideas with me. The appointment went smoothly, the conversation was easy, not one complaint about having to mix extra color for my massive amount of hair. Her vibe is very serene and real. I am exceptionally pleased with my hair. I have not had a cut and color like this in years! Great is an understatement. My hair looks amazing! I am looking forward to sharing her talents with my friends and family!

I just have to say, I wouldn’t trust my hair to any one else! I had been to dozens of salons before I found Kim and never had the trust in a stylist that I have in her.
I’ve had Kim as my stylist since moving back to CA 8 years ago, and I would rather go without a cut than go anywhere else! She’s an awesome person as well, and an hour in her chair makes me feel line I’ve spent the day at a spa!
If you want to stop having bad hair days, she’s the stylist you need to see!

After years of haircuts that left me thinking «well at least it should look alright when it grows out a little» I decided to try something new. I was referred to Kim as I was told she could do wonders with short hair. I really needed a fix-​job and was nervous because my last hair dresser didn’t leave much to work with. Kim was very sweet and a great listener. She fixed my chopped hair and gave me an actual hair style. Now I wont go to anyone else.
My visits always start in the chair when we talk about what look I am looking for. Then she pulls out the aromatic oils and I am treated to a little shoulder massage (I would pay for just that). Then a hair wash and condition (again magic hands). Then comes the part the makes her shine — the hair cuts are unparalleled. While she is drying she walks you through what she is doing so you can recreate the look on your own including what type of product and why it is best for your hair type.
Just to give you an example of how good she is, on my second visit I said I wanted a hair cut like Ginnifer Goodwin. I left very excited because it was EXACTLY what I wanted. Then about a week later I met Ms. Goodwin at Comic-​Con and not only did she compliment my hair but she took a picture of me and Tweeted it with #selfie… NO JOKE. Kim is an artist !!!
