Not bad. I have been to many Thai restaurant around town and I am VERY picky. I have been here three or more times. I don’t think it is the best of the best but it is good food and staff are very friendly… Also I have never had to wait very long for my order.

After my first Unilocal review about Chedi Thai Bistro, I was at first reluctant to try another Thai place in the neighborhood but this place exceeded my expectation! I ordered pad see we with shrimps and they said it was going to take 5 minutes. I was a bit apprehensive because Chedi Thai also took 5 minutes and it was absolute garbage. However, my pad see ew hit the spot! It was flavorful and spicy(I got level 8 out of 10), not exceedingly greasy and was beyond edible. The host was also very nice :)

I’ve been to my fair share of Thai restaurants so I like to think that I know what good Thai food tastes like. I came here during a lunch break and ordered Pad Thai to go over the phone. Food was ready as soon as I got there. The Pad Thai was mediocre and the noodles were cooked like spaghetti. I’ve never had Pad Thai like this before. Taste was lacking as well. The lady who was working seemed pretty nice though so I feel bad knocking their food but people should know. Also, it’s pretty pricey for most Thai restaurants. Contrary to other reviews, I found their portion size to be plentiful. Although that might be because I ordered to-go. Their entrees start at $ 11. I suppose it’s due to the fact that they’re located in La Jolla Village. I’m pretty sure I won’t be back here to try anything else. There are other Thai restaurants nearby that I’d rather try.

Stumbled across this modest place after getting my nails done –I was craving Thai and didn’t want to drive and re park my car so gave Thai Pan a shot. and OMG WoW– Delicious ! — Some off the best Pad Thai I’ve EVER had ! And a generous portion at that ! I’m a huge fan of Pad Thai, so I am a tough critic. I also tried the Panang yellow curry ! mmm so good. What set Thai Pan apart from some of their competitor’s was the freshness ! The food was not too greasy, too salty or too sugary, which I feel sometimes happens at restaurants especially with Chinese or Thai food… It Just fresh – like you could actually taste the food. I’m so happy I stopped in… Also friendly serice too. I recommend ordering for take out or the dining area was okay but nothing fancy. Definitely the place to dine if you want something casual but intimate or with some peace and quiet. I look forward to my leftovers tomorrow, and will definitely be back to try more !

Not Good; Not Bad; Not planning to return; but you never know. The Ginger Tea, I will return for, as for the food, mediocre at best. The Encinitas local is far superior and the prices in La Jolla(yeah, I know, can you believe it) R ridiculous. Just…Just…Just nothing to write home about…

I had mixed feelings before coming here and I left feeling very justified in my initial survey: there are far cheaper and better places to eat. When you walk in you realize this place is a bit understaffed. I believe only one woman was waiting/serving/cashiering, which may have contributed to the lacking of service. It’s also a little bit dim — which created a slight ambiance but also a slight feel of a shady bar. Heh, I’m punny. I guess it’s a good aura if you’re on a date… which I ended up third-wheeling for anyway. Haha, just kidding!(I know you’re going to read this…) TAKENOTE: — Dinner entrees BEGIN at $ 10. The other reviews talk a lot about their lunch specials, which may be a great deal but $ 10 seems a little steep for the quality of the restaurant! Food: — Chicken Pad Thai: A lot of meat and had really chewy noodles. It tasted great but I’ve definitely had better for cheaper. There wasn’t anything special. But if you were wondering, you won’t be disappointed. Probably not worth $ 10 though. — Chicken Pad See-Ewe: Very standard. I dont think there was anything special from the bites I took. — Vegetarian Spicy Basil Noodle: Definitely has a kick to it and the peppers kind of explode with spice at random moments, but also seemed decent. It wasn’t amazing but it wasn’t a bad selection either. Funny observation: — The entrée meals come in a really noticeably oversized plate, which psychologically makes the meal look smaller than it really is. You’ll agree once you get your meal. Seriously. Portion-wise was not TOO small but pretty content for women, and a slight under for men. — Their interior design is pretty random. It looks sort of nice, but not the typical Thai feel. And their menus seem like they’re from a different restaurant — it doesn’t fit the theme and seems really cheaply made. tl dr: the food isn’t bad at all, but isn’t worth the price you pay. Go elsewhere. Service: 3⁄5 Food: 4⁄5 Price: 2⁄5 Overall: 3⁄5

Another Unilocal find. Thai Pan combo #3: spicy basil thai noodle with 2 hand rolls. The hand rolls were pretty blah even with the sauce that was provided. The noodles, on the other hand, were very good. Fried bean cakes with sweet and sour sauce and chopped peanuts– I loved the sauce! The fried tofu was nothing special, but that sauce was excellent! I wanted to dip everything in it. Too bad they only give you a tiny container of it. Red curry– Tasty! Just the right amount of spicy and it was creamy. Service– Excellent! The person taking my order caught on to the fact that I wasn’t ordering anything with dairy or meat so she asked me if I wanted to omit the egg that was normally in the thai noodles. How nice of her. It didn’t say anything about egg on the menu so I wouldn’t have known to ask. She also gave me the happy hour pricing for the fried bean cakes. Parking– Easy. The restaurant is located in the same lot as Vons. There’s plenty of parking. While the food was tasty, it was pretty forgettable. My bf and I haven’t been back. I guess there are way too many other thai places to try. But I really did love that sweet and sour sauce with chopped peanuts! Can’t speak for my bf, but I give it a solid 4 stars!

Popped in here for lunch the other day while my apartment was getting painted and was really glad I did! The place is nice and cozy, and the food is awesome! I got a lot of food for lunch and would definitively go back. I had the green curry and it was great!

My favorite little Thai place in San Diego county yet! I discovered it by accident about 2 years ago while trolling my work neighborhood for something different to for lunch. It has cozy and comfortable atmosphere and service is always with a smile. They take your order quickly and always make sure you are enjoying your meal without being obtrusive. They have the best handmade peanut sauce! I will not have fresh hand rolls without it — the waitress gave me a teaser with a(most likely partial) list of ingredients that made my mouth water. Try ‘Artichoke Delight’ — always my favorite! Great value for lunch as well.

We tried this place tonight for the first time. We are HUGE thai food fans and have tried tons of places in San Diego. This place was amazing!!! Not only was the woman who worked there the sweetest thing, but the prices and portions were good and the taste was beyond!!! I might venture to say this is the best I’ve had in SD. We ordered the chicken pad thai and the cashew nut chicken at a spicy level of 7(which was pretty spicy!!!) so glad we decided to try a new thai place… can’t wait to go back!

Good food, but service is so-so. Every time I come here I have to call out or ring the bell to let anyone know that someone is in the restaurant waiting to be served. I’ve never seen more than one other customer in this restaurant. I come back though because it’s closest to my house, and the food is good. I think Spices Thai in Carmel Valley is much better, but it’s too far from where I live.

The service was good and the food was tasty. But I have to agree with a couple of the other Unilocalers that the portions were stingy. Maybe because as an Asian/Pacific Islander, I have no clue what portions are supposed to be when I go to any Asian restaurant. Portions? What the hell are portions? I like the layout of the restaurant and there’s actually corner tables with curtains that look like they can be closed off so you can have a bit of privacy. Note to self: romantic lunch date place! I’ve ordered the Pad Thai both times I’ve been here and the first time, I didn’t get it too spicy. Second time, I asked for them to make me cry. They did make my eyes water.

I agree with Karen Y. the portions they give you are too small. I had ordered the pineapple curry which was good, but since I was sharing with my girlfriend and it was kinda hard because they only gave you so much. So, I don’t really have much to say about this place other than the food is good, but there are other thai places around that give you more with just the same taste.
