Friendly service and great food. The sandwich I got was absolutely loaded with high quality meat and a great deal for the price.

Please disregard past reviews because this place changed ownership back in August. The new owners have really turned this place around. The food is great. The interior is very clean and newly renovated. They have a half sandwich lunch special that is a good deal, a fat sandwhich with high end deli meat and high quality bread. Great for coffee in the morning, good variety of blends. Friendly staff as well, if you are in La Jolla Shores hit this place up.

Love this place. Perfect stop for and sandwich and coffee on the way home from a weekend hike in Torrey Pines! This was my second time here and the Turkey bacon avocado was awesome once again. The sandwich is stacked with real turkey that taste like it was carved off the thanksgiving bird yesterday! The staff is friendly and quick to great you when you walk in with smiles and fun personalities. The coffee is hot and the wifi is… well the wifi is free. Ill be back!

The coffee is not worth more than a dollar, the overpriced food is microwaved, and the outrageously priced juice comes out of a box.

I’m honestly so surprised by the reviews I’m reading for Squires post having gone to this place! My family and I were in La Jolla because my sister was visiting UCSD. We stopped here on our way there to grab a quick bite of bagels, coffee, sandwiches, muffins, etc… The staff was extremely friendly, they showed us all the options, offered to heat up my chocolate muffin, which was so delicious, and they even offered us advice on what to eat! The service was excellent, and they brought us our bagels in no time at all. The cinnamon raison bagel was really delicious, just fyi. If I’m ever down here again, I will 100% come for breakfast. I don’t know about lunch since I only went once, but their sandwiches look pretty inviting, so I’ll be sure to check it out!

Great location and some good ambiance, but the Torrey Pine and the Del Mar sandwiches were subpar. The avocado was a bit too hard, the bread could use some toasting, and the Del Mar had too much bread, with a breaded crab together with the sandwich’s bread. If you are in the area and need a quite stop for a coffee or something, I still recommend it. But if you want some thing a bit more substantive, go else where. Check out the pics on the walk. They are really cool!

Not a bad sandwich. Fresh made with friendly service and a creative menu different than your standard fair. Little pricey($ 11.50 for an average sandwich, drink and a bag of chips). If you want to stay near the beach, this is worth a stop. If you are driving, go around the corner to the Cove for a much wider selection of restaurants.

Despite the multiple mentioning of unfriendly service, I thought they were pretty nice. Just got a ham and cheese croissant and a coffee. The girl who took my order was very friendly. Got my food fairly quick. Great deal for a cup of coffee, the food isn’t anything spectacular. I tried my friend’s tuna sandwich, it was meh. Come for the coffee and wifi, not for the food.

This place is a locally-owned deli that has been around for years. Service was friendly and reasonably quick, and the sandwiches were simple and fresh. Can’t ask for much more than that! The pictures on the wall are very entertaining to look at while you wait!

Oh, come on folks, give this deli a break. They have fresh meats, breads, and cheeses for any flavor of taste buds for sandwiches and hoagies! Fun pics on the wall, and super friendly & local staff. Great location to walk to the beach and downtown. But yes, parking sucks if you don’t get lucky with a space in front.

A friend and I decided to stop by here since we were early for our kayaking reservation and this place was conveniently located near it. I was too busy trying to find the name of the store that I failed to notice the $ 5 lunch special sign of a sandwich and free coke. When I went inside, the prices were a bit steep so I opted for a half chicken salad sandwich and my friend got a breakfast burrito. I feel like workers should have told me about the special since I wasn’t aware of it. I would have gotten another half a sandwich and a free coke for only $ 1.20 more. Oh well. The workers were really rude and standoffish. The sandwich itself was pretty good but i’m giving it such low ratings due to the rudeness of the workers. When she asked me what bread I wanted, I couldn’t find the bread menu and asked what options they had. she rolled her eyes and pointed to another menu on the side. She kept mumbling and when she asked me what toppings I wanted, I couldn’t hear her so I asked if she could repeat it. She sighed heavily and mumbled again. This place is not for tourists and customer service is not their number one goal.

Terrible. I was forced to come here one day because Papalulu’s down the street was closed. The guy at the counter was very unfriendly. They charge you if you want to use a credit card. The food choices for breakfast are VERY limited. I ended up getting a bagel with cream cheese, tomato, and avocado. The tomato was still yellow and the bagel tasted like a Costco bagel… yuck. And aside from the poor service and food options, the interior of this place is dark and unpleasant. I would’ve eaten outside but there was no room. I guess I could’ve walked down to the beach and if I am every forced to eat here again, I definitely will. Or maybe I’ll just go next door and buy a box of Cap’n Crunch… cause even that would be better

YUK! Old, dirty – gross! Co-worker got food poising at Squires eating a roast beef sandwich. Go down the street to «Cheese Shop», they have much better sandwiches.

I personally enjoy coming here to grab a sandwich when I’m visiting the La Jolla Shores. I started coming here in 2009 when the Team in Training triathlon team would meet there on the weekends for our run and swim workouts. I usually grab a turkey sandwich on wheat but yesterday I got the low fat tuna sandwich on wheat. It was delicious — I was only able to eat half of my sammy but it was fantastic. If I was smart and brought ice, I would’ve been able to save the rest for dinner. Next time. The tuna sammy had the right amount of mayo and crunch from the celery and onions they put it in. It definitely hit the spot and was very close to how I make them at home. The girls working yesterday were very friendly and provided excellent customer service. This place will continue to be my favorite sammy shop when I’m at the shores on the weekend. I see that other peeps before me said the prices were high but I thought they were fair.

Agree with the lady below but I would not even recommend tourists going here. I once had a great sandwich here about 2 years ago and have tried to give it second chances since I work so close to it but its awful. Last straw — soup that tastes like campbells, stale crackers and a roast beef sandwich with spoiled meat all for the low price of $ 7. Forget it go to Papalulus or Cheese Shop for your sandwiches.

My friend and I had just driven 2 hours from Long Beach and wanted a quick bite before we went kayaking. We happened upon this café and figured it was our only option. The food options looked delicious. They had some great sounding sandwiches and quite a few pre-made meals available. The only things I could see that were GF was the hardboiled egg/cheese protein tray, salad and potato chips. I picked up the protein tray and said to my friend«I guess I’ll just get this. I can’t get a sandwich» So she mentioned to the girl taking our order«She’s GF so she can’t eat any of the sandwiches.» The other employee butted in and haughtily stated, «yeah, it’s called a lettuce wrap.» Well excuse me douche, lettuce wraps are not on your menu and we weren’t complaining in the first place. So I said, «Oh, you have lettuce wraps?» to which he replied, «No. But I can do one.» Okay then. I ordered my lettuce wrap and my friend ordered the«Wrap of the Day» then we paid and sat down to wait for our food. My friend’s wrap was stuffed full of meat, veggies and cheese. My lettuce wrap wasn’t as cumbersome or as filling. The food was good but the male employee’s attitude lost this cute little café a star.

Tourists: This place is AWESOME! Go here! I think you’re the only reason this place has more than 2 stars. And the only reason they can stay afloat. Locals: save your money. This place is crap. AND waaaaaay overpriced. My croissant had no butter flavor. The ham on it completely overpowered it. 15 bucks for 2 croissants and 2 coffees. Locals, go to Harry’s and share an omelet. You’ll spend about 2⁄3 as much while being 3⁄2 as happy.

Good quality sandwiches. Stopped here because Squires was the only place that had parking in this area. I was here for a fresh made sandwich and there were several appetizing selections on the menu board. The sandwich I chose had a generous amount of turkey, lettuce, tomato, and sprouts, yes sprouts. This was all on soft fresh wheat bread. The main note was definitely the mayo/mustard. It had a vinegary tang that rocked the flavors on what is generally considered a boring turkey sandwich. The price was 7.50, which was pricey considering there was no drink or chips included. I guess you pay for location, and quality. I could see this place as a great stopping point after your scuba classes or just grabbing some grub and having a picnic on the beach. — In general the service was pleasant, owner was there and a sassy girl was handling the deli case. — They also had lunch burritos which looked good.
