Unfortunately the customer service was very MEH here when I popped in to check out their cute comfort shoes. The woman who helped me really didn’t take advantage of a sales opportunity. Oh well, I’ll take my business elsewhere.

So the shoes are really expensive but they are no more expensive than they are at zappos so there doesn’t seem to be much of a markup. Nancy, the woman who helped me, was the most involved shoe saleswoman I’ve ever met, in a good way. It was akin to a running store in that she asked me my usage and looked at my foot shape then pulled out the most comfortable shoes ever. She knows what fits high arches, what is best for walking on cobblestone, what is best for rain, what helps out your plantar faciitis, etc. Even though I was there right before closing, she was just really concerned with getting me the best pair of shoes. There were some rather cute bags too. Oh, and a $ 20 off coupon often comes in the mail and Nancy was totally understanding of how I wasn’t going to buy my shoes until I received a current one and told me where to find it online( ).

La Jolla Shoe Gallery is definitely not the spot where you’ll find hip and sexy pumps. But sometimes comfort is way more hip than looks(okay, I’m getting old), and whether you’re in your twenties or eighties, you might want to prudently grab a couple of Mephisto pairs before it’s too late. If mom and grandma are in town, take them there; they’ll love their high quality comfort shoes. Also, a must stop for the pickiest flip-flop lovers.

The first thing you’ll see are the hideous, but smart and comfortable Birkenstock sandals. If you manage to make your way to the mid section of the store, however, you’ll find the cute Indigo shoes, perfect for baby doll/ballet slipper loving girls like me. Everything is expensive, but worth it. La Jolla Shoe Gallery sells the type of shoes you’ll wear for the rest of your life.
