THERESERIOUSLYNEEDSTOBE A NOSTAROPTION! Today was my first time here and my last my sister in law loves this place so I decided to give it a try even though the owners reputation precedes her. First off the place needs a serious cleaning the blue plates they serve your sandwiches on are filthy, yes I know there is parchment paper on top but seriously you can see crud stuck in the rim! I step up to counter and order their famous chicken salad sandwich on a croissant. I ask for a slice of Swiss cheese on it and the grouchy lady behind the register says: have you ever had my sandwiches? They don’t need the cheese. First off you DONOT tell your paying customers how to eat their food. But boy am I glad that I just gave in to her, my sandwich was salty as heck and the chicken salad… more like goopy mess with a few pieces of chicken. The sandwich was just so gooey and gross there is something else in there that isn’t mayonnaise I could really figure it out it left a nasty film and taste in my mouth… yuk! Now on to the real problem if you are going to be a business owner you could at least try to have a smile on your face and not a scowl!!! You treat all your customers equally, not just the white ones it made sense that all the people in her place where white as I’m sure she’s scared all other races away with her attitude and that icy stare she gives you. I will never be returning to this place again.

I’ve been coming to Laura’s for approximately 3 years now. I can’t put into words the level of customer service they have. It is an awesome little place with the mom and pop feeling. I have tried almost everything on the menu, everything met my expectations. But depending on what you enjoy just ask and the staff will make a good recommendation for you. In the mood for dessert? Try their fudge brownie! They are amazing! I’ve ordered 50 for a party and everyone loved them! They have great catering options.

My family and I love the food here most notably the chicken salad sandwich, super bombski! I do agree service can be rude or snippy but, work in a restaurant and deal with irritating and clueless customers for as long as they have and you would likely be fed up too. Be nice and they will be nice too.

Food was ok, went there a few times but when the owner(I assume) was so rude, I’ve never been back… guess she doesn’t need my business… there are plenty of other better places to eat… Skip this one!

I will admit the food is excellent and that alone deserves 5 stars. However the owner Laura is the most miserable person I have ever met. When I see and walk into Laura’s loaves I expect a friendly warm welcoming Woman who wants to treat you to her wonderful food. However Laura herself is very grumpy and puts off a very angry vibe. She is not accommodating at all what so over and seems almost upset that she must wait on people. Each meal comes with a cookie and chips. On the counter are a variety of both however Laura takes the attitude«you get what I give you.» If you ask for something different(a chocolate chip cookie instead of a raisin one/BBQ chips instead of Cheetos) you can actually watch her head spin like The Exorcist. Great food but terrible service. I wanted to bring a friend but I was too embarrassed to say what a great place Laura’s Loaves is because Laura brings the whole place down

Laura is not friendly at all. She discouraged Me buying 5 small potatoes salad saying«you will wipe me out». So I bought 1 big one.

Service is absolutely borderline racist * I only come here because my wife likes the chicken salad here. If you are a minority she makes sure to give you dry, rude toned customer service. She even asked us «Have you been here before ?» In a rude tone. I think she goes out of her way to let minorities know they are not welcome, while there a white couple walked in and her demeanor changed completely, she was super friendly and nice to them … Right in front of me! Her sandwiches are decent but her customer service skills are absolute crap!

The Chicken Salad sandwich on croissant is delicious! I can’t leave here without an almond cheesecake bar. Food is always prepared quickly.

Ohhhh Laura! Today, as I knowingly screeched into the driveway and ran in one minute before closing begging Mr. Laura’s Loaves, who’d just turned over the«closed» sign and was gathering up the outside chairs, to PLEASE let me buy one Almond Bar, I knew I was gonna get it from Laura! LOL! Sure enough Mr. said«Of course!» with a smile while Laura snapped«We just put everything away» as she stood behind the very full dessert case. Mr. told her I just want one Almond Bar and as she(thankfully) got one out for me while I offered much apology and heartfelt gratitude, Laura couldn’t resist scolding«WE’VEBEENCLOSINGAT2:30FOR21YEARS!» LMBO! In other words… I knew better. I don’t care, Laura, snarl away. Your Almond Bars are worth the verbal spanking! But I gotta hold back a star for your super mean, Seinfeld episode worthy customer service. Ohhhhh Laura.

I would give 5 stars for the Tuna Croissant Sandwich– actually make it FOUR stars cuz it’s pricey. But I’m not usually the person who walks in to buy lunch — my business partner is — and she is OVER the bad service LOL. Something about Laura’s demeanor –repeated odd — awkward service encounters– and the final straw… an odd(surly?) exchange about WHYWEWERENTORDERINGTHECHICKENSALAD!!!. She refuses to give her any more business. Alas I do miss the Tuna Croissant Sandwich– too bad :(

I’m glad to see that I’m not the only one that has a bad taste in their mouth because of the service. The lady at the front counter, I’m guessing is the owner, is horrible. She has given me a bad attitude every time I’ve gone in there. Today I went in and walked out because of the dirty scowl she had on her face. So much for mom and pop shop hospitality.

I’ve literally lived a block away from here for the past 5 years and kept telling myself to go in. But because of the limited open hours and my ability to never be at work on time I never had the opportunity to physically stop. Well Friday I had a dgaf attitude and was already running 30 min late and stopping for gas was a necessity so I said to heck with it and stopped by. Picked up a 9 pack of cinnamon rolls and a ham and cheese croissant. No joke, my boss didn’t care I was 45 min late, but those rolls sweetened the deal. Best little babies ever! So today we had a meeting in Whittier and I decided to stop by and grab a chicken salad sandwich because… Unilocal says to, and NOJOKE. Amazing. The chocochoc cookie and the choc chip were also amazing as well as the lemon cheesecake bar I decided was a necessity. Customer service was on point and if I could get my act together to stop by every morning I would. But realism is telling me that I have priorities known as «5 more minutes» with a blanket over my head.

If that really is the owner at the front counter then she should fire herself. Every time I’ve gone in there she’s given me attitude. No more. I’m done.

Laura and her husband are so incredibly nice! Not to mention that they have the best chicken salad I will ever taste in my whole life! Especially if you get the bad lunch and put it on the croissant. To die for!

The food is good, but what does that matter when the service is horrible. If you put a friendly person at the counter, more customers would return.

I am a vegetarian and I absolutely cannot get enough of Laura’s veggie sandwich. I get the box lunch, it comes with a pickle, chips, and a fresh cookie. You can request what chips or flavor cookie but do not expect to be asked what kind or flavor you want. I also get the regular iced tea. I am so full after which is hard for me at most places, overall its very satisfying. This whole place is owned and operated by Laura who really is very nice but don’t expect over the top customer service.

My friend Rebecca makes way better chicken salad than Laura but she lives way out in Long Beach so… you know. I have a love hate relationship with this place. Sure, they have the best chicken salad in the local area but is that really somethin to brag about. Food around here is notoriously mediocre with only a few standout spots. Four stars for the chicken salad, zero stars for the svc. Every time my wife calls to place an order she’s cross-examined like a hostile witness… very bizarre!

The BESTCHICKENSALADINTHEUNIVERSE. That’s worth each of the five stars I give this place! The texture is divine! The taste is delightful! The croissant makes it a joy to behad! Even if you don’t like chicken salad, you’ll fall in love here!!! It’s AUUUHHHMAZING!!! Plus it’s a cute little shop where you can eat there, eat outside in the little outdoor seating, or easily take it to go! Plus Tony is really nice and kind to the customers! He makes up for any lacking service to be had!

I have heard about Laura’s for years and never had the opportunity to go. Well today I finally went in the extremely small store front to be greeted by a man that looked as if I stepped in the front door of his own home. He starred at me very uncomfortably and asked what I wanted. I felt like I had to explain myself that I was there to place an order and he seemed upset that I interrupted his conversation he was having with his buddy. Nevertheless, I placed my order with this rude fellow and he never asked what flavor of chips or type of cookie I would have liked with my bag lunch order(bag lunch comes with chips and a cookie). We got 3 different types of cookies and chips by the way. I was actually afraid to request a flavor of chips/cookie because he was so grouchy he would have probably snapped at me. On the food front, it was fairly good but the customer service will prevent me from ever going back.
