So-so. This location is perfect for a good pizza/sports bar, but unfortunately it’s missing a lot. First and foremost the menu. The pizza is okay, a bit dry for my taste. Not a whole lot of sauce, but generous on the toppings. Had a slice of pep, pep and sausage, the works, and ham and pineapple. Best eaten fresh. The potato wedges and fried chicken tasted as if they had been fried together or in the exact same oil. The bread twists were tasty, filled with cheese and garlic. One of the better items on the menu were the chocolate chip cookie bars. Filled with a generous portion of chocolate and nuts. The beer. They serve a very limited selection on tap including Budweiser, shocktop, and Stella. That’s a negative. The tvs. A few tvs scattered across a pretty large size venue. Not big enough to watch games, I would imagine crowds huddling around the screens. Service was good. The girl in the front was helpful in redeeming my Unilocal deal and quick to explain items on the menu. May be back for a quick slice but not a memorable experience overall.

First time here on a Tuesday during lunch time and it was not busy at all. We came in to try out the lunch buffet and it was OK. They had a small selection of pizza choices and some brownies and cheesy bread. They also had really crispy fried chicken and also had a salad bar but I was sort of grossed out by the salad because it was already browning and watery. They did have green mix though and I ate a lot of the broccoli because it was tasty and fresh! It was a plus that they had those computerized soda machine. The one thing that really bugged me the most was how hot those tongs were. They leave the tongs next to the food under the heated lamp and it was burning hot. I liked it but the food was just average, it has a Shakey’s feeling but the food seemed like it was yesterday’s and the game selection was not very fun. But since it is so conveniently located couple minutes away from my house, I wouldn’t mind coming back once in awhile.

I got the lunch buffet, the selection was minimal. There was pepperoni, cheese, supreme, and pepperoni and sausage. Also chicken wings, some kind of cheese bread and brownie bites. The salad bar is like any other except they had deviled eggs. The food is what really made me give the three stars. Kind of bland, the pizza sauce tasted like it was from a can. The salads seemed fresh and full of life. I liked the ambience of this place. It has great potential, just work on getting fresher ingredients for the pizza. The game room was a joke, you guys need pool tables and air hockey. I will try this food again sometime in the near future.

Ham and Cheese Hot Hat. That’s all I need to say. Step into the way-back machine and enter my childhood memory from around 1984 – 1988 … you will see and taste happiness when you bite into a HAMANDCHEESEHOTHAT! What is this wonderful Ham and Cheese Hot Hat you ask? I’ll tell you. It’s ham. It’s several melted cheeses. It’s hot. And… well, sorry… there’s no hat involved in the actual item. But it is wrapped(or encased I should say) in a toasted sesame seed crunchy on the outside/soft and gooey on the inside dough based wrapping. For lack of a better description, I’ll call that part the hat. So. Good. It makes me want to break out in song. I won’t. But I want to. Have you ever been reminded of something from your childhood and then realized it’s probably extinct? Well, not so in this case. Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you(and highly recommend that you taste) the Ham and Cheese Hot Hat. Ok– onto the other stuff. Pizza– pretty decent. Wings– tasty, but small. Soda machine– YES! Like 500 different combinations!!! Rock. On. Salad bar– looks good, but I keep ordering the Ham and Cheese Hot Hat(you didn’t think I was going to mention it again, did you?) Service– friendly. Feels like a mom & pop kind of welcome every time we go there. Cleanliness– great! Spaciousness– fantastic! I read comments about the place having no available seating. How? It’s like a Sam’s Club sized pizza parlor. I really want to give it 4.5 stars, but I’ll have to make it a little less than perfect because the wings are lacking a bit in size. Oh wait– I forgot the bonus points that will push it to 5 stars– UnilocalCHECK-INDISCOUNT of 15%!!! Oh yeah!!! Fix the wing portion/size and I’d give it six stars. PS. #hamandcheesehothat

On my first visit, I had come with 10 of my elementary students after making a reservation. To my surprise, the whole place looked empty! They had a kids special for $ 4.99 which I thought was a very great deal. However, their chicken tasted sweet — I think they mixed salt with sugar this day. And their soda machine was broken so every button except«water» looked light brown and tasted like coke-ish sprite. Everyone deserves second chances, right? On my second visit with 10 kids, their chicken tasted better(not sweet but salty), and their soda machine was properly working, but they had overcharged the total check for 10 of my students $ 59.99 instead of $ 49.99. When I went to ask what was going on, the server denied the fact that it was miscalculated and told me that their«prices on the menu were just simply different from the prices in their computer.» The manager was of no help either. No apologies. She simply told me that that’s just how the store is and they’re gona have to «try to fix their menu soon» but actually did nothing in solving the problem. I say this place lacks of honesty and guarantee in what they offer, and lacks flexibility in dealing with a costumer’s complaint. I did not get my money back and I won’t be visiting this place, again.

Best part of my dinner is the Coke dispenser. Has Coke, diet coke, vanilla coke, cherry coke, lime coke, orange coke, and my new favorite, Raspberry Coke. But they have that crappy Pibb. !!THEREISNOSUBSTITUTEFORDR. PEPPER!

Marvelous venue for super gathering. Owners Chris and Jennifer have their«All you can eat» Buffet on Tuesday evening and make available the HUGE80″ HDTV for presentations. They even provide the HDMI cable to your computer. We had asked our granddaughter to talk about her recent experience in Europe, presenting to family and friends so we could all hear about her experience together and not just see«a bunch of pictures.» This is a really fantastic place to do that, or any other group presentation, without having to rent an expensive venue. For the price of the buffet(extremely reasonably priced) we all enjoyed her presentation/discussion. Other patrons also enjoyed listening in. Yes, not totally private, but plenty of room for disinterested folks to move to other areas and enjoy their privacy. Biggest benefits: No mess/fuss to do it at home; cheaper than feeding the bunch at home; no cleanup afterwards; bigger TV than most homes; buffet includes unlimited soft drinks(120+ choices); arcade game area available for the kids. Salad bar was great and fresh. Enough pizza, chicken, pasta, brownies, cheese bread, etc. to satisfy anyone’s hunger. Great Venue! Thank You Chris & Jennifer & their staff.

First time visit to this location, nice layout, good for kids, good for business meetings & parties, because of a separated space that holds up to 35 or so. This may sound silly, but their battered green beans are simply fantastic, as good as any around. On this visit we shared a regular California pepperoni pizza & it was tasty, nice crust & the perfect size for two(small). A highlight is that amazing soda machine where you can make a gazillion flavors of Coke, I had a Vanilla Zero. Friendly staff, quick service. We’ll be back with more comments on our next trip. Also they accept Lyoness Cards(discount cash back!) for more info:

I’ve taken my kids here on several occasions and every time they have a blast. I can watch my games on any of the 10 huge TVs while they play games in the kids arcade. The food is extremely fresh and tasty. I certainly haven’t explored every item on the menu but I can definitely say the pizza is easily the best in town. They also have a soda machine that puts all other soda machines to shame. Apparently it makes over 100 different combinations of soft drinks! You have to see it to believe it. Overall this is a fun, clean environment to hang with the family or just have a beer and watch the game. Good times for sure.

I just came back from my first return since when they first opened. My original visit, I’m still not sure what was wrong with the pizza — either the pizza was well overcooked, or just prepared wrong. but this time it was great. Kept it simple this time, pepperoni on the whole thing, half pineapple, half bacon. My service was awesome and very attentive. Various games on all the flat screen TVs, and so many options from the Coca-Cola Freestyle machine. What I like best about this place is their involvement with the community. Almost daily I’m seeing fundraisers for various organizations and youth teams in the area. Another plus is there lunch buffet. Unlimited pizza and salad bar for cheap! If I had to make another recommendation, they need a dessert menu. Ice cream, or some sort of dessert pizza that they may be able to create. Also, trivia nights are starting to get big. This could possibly be a good place on slow nights. Check out King Trivia or Action Trivia. I gave them a 2nd shot and I look forward to my next visit. Come enjoy some pizza, great appetizers, a football or basketball game, and $ 3 beers. Things have improved and I wish them the best here in La Crescenta. Keep up to good work Straw Hat.

Great pizza, nice dinning area, plus buffet for lunch time and game area for the kids! I been curious about this place and finally went inside. I wasn’t disappointed. Very nice staff, clean restaurant and great food at a good price. Spread the word!

Really enjoyed the look of it. Great place to gather and hang out with friends and watch sports! Salad bar was delicious and the food my brother and I ordered was good. Service was a little slow, which was funny cause it was literally just me and my brother and like 3 more tables that had people, so it shouldn’t have been slow service honestly. The parking is the worst. Really don’t like it at all.

The diaper changing station in the men’s room had a moldy old pizza stuffed in to it… DISGUSTING!!! The outside the diaper changing station(one of those Koala care fold down tables attached to the wall) looked fine, but the second I opened it I was hit with a repulsive odor and sight of blue moldy pizza. I took my infant daughter and hightailed it out of the bathroom. The fact that there was mold all over the pizza means that they never even bothered to clean that thing for at least a few days, possibly more than a week! I’ve never seen anything like that. Thankfully my wife was able to take the baby to the women’s bathroom where the diaper changing station was clean. Service was really slow, but I guess they can kind of get a pass because there were two big gatherings there that night. The staff seemed nice, but beleaguered by the amount of people there, and I was leaving I heard somebody complain that they had been waiting an hour for their food. Maybe they are just working out the kinks since they just opened, but the bathroom was quite revolting.

Near the void left by the departure of Trader Joes, this comes as welcome Good Addition to Foothill blvd. It’s a nice SITDOWN venue, which makes it better than some nearby take-out-only pizza options. The inside is CLEAN and spacious which is appreciated. It’s got some big TVs, but they seem far-away for my eyes. Still this new Straw Hat is a way to please both kids, pizza fans and sports fans at the same time. So unlike me, I neglected to see what kind of beer they offer so I may update this review next visit. The arcade section is a little small, which I think aids to the tranquility and grace of the venue. I don’t want to dine inside the ball pit of an old Showbiz arcade, so I appreciate the open-air feeling this place has to offer. The handicapped parking is oddly too close to the door. I would install some cement pylons to prevent someone backing their @$$ up right into the building entrance, which seems inevitable based on the design.

My review is based on my short observation on the night of their opening day. Not from a dining experience. So I preordered their basic pizza which was the simple pepperoni and cheese. But to make it exciting, I wanted an extra topping of cheese! The young lady on the phone was polite but I noticed she was clueless of the number of slices and sizes of pizzas. She had to place me on hold and I guessed she needed to ask someone. That was not a problem to me, I thought she was really nice and she didn’t want to misinform me. That’s humility. :) I got to the parking without difficulty but it was full, was lucky enough to find one good spot right in front of the resto. I was thinking it was their opening day and this hour can be busier for dinner time. I liked the waiting area and this place is really spacious. I noticed that most of the staff were young adults and there were confusions on their faces. Of course, my pizza was not ready! I didn’t think it was even made. I expected for the worse and it happened! But I do thank the manager, Michael, who approached me and was very sincere with his apologies. He was personable and he handed me a complimentary card which I can use for my next visit. I can totally understand it was their opening day and those kids need more orientation and training. Hopefully, they can be better for my dining experience in few days. 4 stars for their effort!!!
