I’m not a fan of the New York style soft crust pizza, but the pie is very large, reasonably priced, and the ingredients are very tasty. The place seems to always be busy, good for going out with friends because it is easy to get to, never had trouble finding a seat though its always full, the food tastes good(though I prefer crispy crust). Not the prettiest of pizza either, but as I said, the flavor is very good. much better than average. I often see families so even though they serve beer I would say its family friendly.

This is my go to place for a slice of pizza. They always have a terrific selection of slices day or night. Unlike some pizza places they keep slices out all night long so there’s no need when it’s little olé’ me to have to get an entire pie. The staff here is friendly, service is quick and they have some other delicious goodies including their garlic knots which are super yummy. I have had delivery from here as well and have had no issues.

My coworkers and I called in an order to this Flippin’ Pizza. The Vista one is actually closer to us, the one off Melrose, but they are temporarily closed. But the La Costa one isn’t too far, and when I called in, they said we were on the cusp of the 4 mile radius and they said they’d still deliver. Sweet! We had been looking at the menu for this place since Wednesday for ordering Friday. When I called in Thursday to ask a few questions, they said they’d be more than happy to take our order and deliver it the following day. Sweet! We ordered: — Whitestone Pizza(+ chicken $ 4.00) — Buffalo Chicken Pizza –Union Calzone(has meatballs, bell peppers, and mushrooms in it) — garlic knots(1 order is 6 pieces) — pepperoni bites($ 3.501 order is 3 pieces) — small salad — around $ 90.00 not including tip My favorite was the Whitestone and the garlic knots! The calzone was tasty but the bottom was super soggy, maybe we didn’t eat it fast enough. Buffalo Chicken was a lil dry for my liking. Garlic knots trump the pepperoni bites, they were tastier. So we ordered 3 orders of pepperoni bites, and I swear they didn’t give us our third order! I called and told them that, and they said they will deliver them. But then they called back(they decided to go straight to vmail and not talk to me), and said their manager delivered it and he swears there were 3 orders in there. Ok whatever. We never got it, why else would I have bothered to call? Coworker who didn’t get her order is over it though, it was only $ 3.50. Besides that, food was decent. We would order again.

We moved into the area about 6 months ago and have been slowly trying out the local businesses. This past Sunday night it was Flippin’ Pizza’s turn. We wanted to watch the SNF game, so we ordered pickup so I could check out the restaurant, see what they’re about and check on any specials they have. When I walked in, the place was clean and cozy. The waitstaff was quite friendly and it was neat to see them making the pizzas right in front of you. I walked to the counter, paid for my pizza, asked a few questions to get to know the place(Thursday nights are half off beer night! $ 9 pitchers!). Everything seemed like we were on the track for a great pizza and football night… until we started eating. We ordered a large sausage, pepper and onion pizza and, thanks to the Unilocal check-in, we got free Buffalo Bites. Think of the Buffalo Bites as a tiny calzone with buffalo chicken in it. They were pretty tasty. The pizza, however, was a different story. There wasn’t anything that tasted bad on the pizza. Actually, there wasn’t anything that had taste on the pizza. No seasoning in the crust, the veggies were bland and somehow, they managed to use sausage that was flavorless. It was actually impressive how little flavor it had. The only thing that made the pizza worth eating was the copious amount of Cholula and ranch dressing we dumped on it. I’ll give them another try, but I’m not overly optimistic. When we go, I think it’ll be on a Thursday night to take advantage of their beer special. Hopefully I can update this review with better news.

Maybe it’s just this location but the pizza we ordered last night was horrible. We ordered 3 tops… sausage, pepperoni and garlic. Wow… they were great a putting tons of big chunks of garlic on that pizza but no pepperoni was to be found. Very thin, too thin crust. Minimal cheese, horrible toppings. Was there sauce on that pizza? I’m not even sure. They’ve been better before but something was amiss last night.

Have come here twice for pick up. The pizza is served New York style, thin crust with lots of cheese. I like that they hear the pizza up in a large stone oven before take out. They also have a deal where if you buy two slices you get a free pizza. Overall the pizza is made with fresh ingredients and always taste great, they many different toppings which allows for great variety. Cannot wait to go back and have more thin crust pizza!

Whatever they gain for simplicity of dough they loose for lack of toppings. Sparce for the price… especially if they cut out the additives in the dough. Cool concept but not anything more than thin crust basic pizzas.

In town for business… being an east-coaster, of course I gotta find some good pizza… Nice and thin, good crispy crust… good selection kept out for«by the slice» orders, daily special of 2 cuts and drink for 7 bucks. VERY fast service… was not there for prime time, but I don’t think I waited more than 2 – 3 minutes each time I was in here. Did not order delivery, so I can’t comment on that… but for a quick walk-in lunch or dinner, it’s the place you need.

Great pizza, can’t beat the price and amazing service. Pizza for our house is usually one of those Friday night treats and from the look of the crowd at Flippen pizza it is for most of our neighbors. The staff cranks our orders both over the phone and in person without missing a beat. You would expect some mishaps from such a young crew, but yet to see it. They are dealing with youth sports teams, families and the Togo orders at a rapid pace in a profession manner and the quality never suffers. I found my go-to neighborhood pizza joint

There is a group of 8 ok us. The pizza is great, but the staff is overwhelmed. We want more pizza and suggested to put the pre made pizza in the oven for us. We were told that they had to use that pizza by the slice. We had to wait for the overwhelmed staff to make a pizza from scratch. Management needs to give their staff more flexibility to enhance the customer experience. I feel rules are more important than customer service. :(

It’s my fault, apparently. First, the pizza is good. I love their stance on no added sugar, preservatives, or crap that doesn’t belong on a pizza or in my mouth. Flavor is great, ingredients are fresh. Second, the customer service is atrocious. We ordered a simple half cheese half veggie online. The order showed up, we were excited to dive in… flipped the box open… and the half cheese half veggie was actually half cheese, other half cheese. — Bummer. No worries, I’ll give them a call. I’m sure they’ll make it right. - Nope. Here’s how the conversation went: Me:(explains what happened) Flippin’ Guy: «Well, we just made whatever you ordered.» Me: «Actually, our receipt says ‘H1-Veggie/H2-Build.’ So a cheese pizza isn’t what we ordered.» Flippin’ Guy: «Well, I can give you 15% off and you can order another one.» Me: «So, the only way we can get what we ordered is if I pay you more money?» Flippin Guy: «I can give you 15% off.» Me: «Right, so I have to pay for two pizzas(one 15% off) in order to get the pizza I actually ordered?» Flippin’ Guy: «We just made whatever you ordered online.» Me: «So what you’re saying is it’s my fault?» Flippin’ Guy: Silence… silence… Me: «Can I talk to a manager?» Flippin’ Guy: I can give you 50% off, but it won’t be ready for an hour or more. Me: «Thanks, but that doesn’t solve my problem. I still have to pay you more money in order to get the pizza that I originally ordered.» Flippin’ Guy: With an online order, we just make whatever online says. Me: And what we ordered online was a ½ and ½. Was it a mistake with the online ordering because we didn’t order a cheese pizza? Flippin’ Guy: You’d be surprised… Me: So, you are saying it’s my fault? Flippin’ Guy: Yup. Me: Wow. That’s a bummer. I guess we won’t be ordering from you guys anymore. Flippin Guy: Yup. Dear Flippin’ Guy: Cleary, this is all my fault. As I was ordering through your online system, I must have been thinking about a whole cheese pizza, not ½ veggie, ½ cheese. That manifest itself in the movements and clicks of my fingers during online ordering, as my subconscious took over and clearly controlled my physical being. Deep down, I know veggies aren’t good for me. Of course, veggies don’t belong on a pizza… just cheese. AND, despite the best efforts of my receipt, my conscious being, and my phone call; I wanted cheese. This was clearly my fault, and thank you for illuminating that fact to me. Dear Flippin’ Owner: If this is your policy when it comes to customers, you are drastically mistaken. We have been customers for a long time, bought gift cards for friends, raved about your establishment, and supported your business. The opportunity cost of either a) hiring better employees, or b) just making another pizza is miniscule compared to turning a passionate customer into a dissatisfied and vocal dissident.

Good pizza, but we walked in at 8:26 and they were COMPLETELY cleaned up and weren’t selling pizza anymore. I believe that if your business says it closes at 9pm the last order should be no earlier then 8:50 pm.

Delicious New York style pizza by the slice at an affordable price. I always go for the Whitestone and Triboro slices, and am never disappointed. This is definitely one of my 3 favorite pizza places in San Diego. I occasionally get garlic knots, which are scrumptious, but 2 pieces of pizza is typically plenty of food for me for lunch. Even though it’s a little ways away from work, this is one of my go-to lunch spots.

Wow what a horrible experience. I just left this place without food. I went in and ordered three slices of pizza. It was before 5pm so it was not busy by any means. I waited standing by the soda machine as about 10 –12 minutes went bye. I finally asked the girl when my order would be ready and she looked at me as if I spoke German. «What is your number? What kind of pizza did you order?» I let her know I only ordered three slices. She totally spaced it and left me hanging. I asked if I could get a refund and a manager. The manager comes out and helps her refund my credit card and just looks at me. Obviously this must happen a lot because he didn’t say a word to me. So I walked out. Thanks a lot! Just ordered a pie from«Allen’s New York Pizza»

Went to a friend’s house last night who ordered this for dinner. There are quite a few good pizza places in the Encinitas and Carlsbad area which is probably why I had never tried Flippin’ Pizza before. I had heard many great things about the place though. This was surely going to be some awesome pizza, right? Nope. I grabbed a piece of some sort of combination pizza with pepperoni, olives and some peppers. The thin crust was like a greasy, soggy piece of mush. It wasn’t even sturdy enough to lift a piece of the pizza without it breaking apart. The cheese was so greasy that it some how found a way to vacate the crust before the crust vacated my hand. I did like the high level of garlic in the pizza and the fragrant aroma betrayed my senses before my taste buds told the truth. Out of politeness, I choked down the one piece I took but didn’t eat any more. I honestly can’t imagine another viable scenario in which I would ever eat food from that place again barring another unsuspecting host serving it or an extreme food shortage after a zombie attack.

Local New York style pizzeria. They offer dine-in, shared sidewalk seating that faces the parking lot, and local delivery. The parking is ample, except when a sports team crashes the place. It is a bit small for that type of venue. THEPIES Thin crust and calzone only, plus odds and ends, like salad, garlic knots, mini pepperoni and buffalo bites, etc. The kids like the bites, but I find them to be more of a novelty. The pizzas are available by the pie or the slice, which makes lunch economical and quick. Did I mention their pizza is awesome? Like most freshly baked pies that do not include stabilizers or preservatives, the pie is great when hot and fresh, but inconsistent when cold or reheated in a microwave. Toaster oven only… Their pesto is the best in town, period. Know that before you decide what to put I your slice or pie. One minor demerit — East Coasters will want a bowl of gravy(sauce) to go with their calzone and you can get one here, but you’ll be disappointed. It isn’t Mom’s gravy. Likewise, Chicagoans, the pies are thin and you can’t get a menu like Giordano’s. For what you come for, this place is good, though. THEDRINKS I’m not a drinker anymore, but their selection on tap looks decent. Today, it is Maui Brewing Company, Longfin, Port Brewing, Saint Archer White Ale, Jamaica Red Ale, and Bear Republic Racer 5IPA. There is a self serve soda machine for the kids, which doubles as a club soda and water dispenser. THESTAFF Super friendly, attentive, and considerate of their patrons needs. They call me by name and ask if I want the usual when I call or come by. MARKETINGPROGRAMS They give back to the community with their programs, though their calendar is typically booked months in advance and they tend to favor schools over individual programs(e.g. The 3 Day Walk). Tell them John sent you and they might ask if you want the usual(2 buffalo chicken slices, heavy pesto). Mhm, it is that good.

Love love loooove flippin pizza! Their sauce is my fave. They have an awesome lunch special for two slices and a drink for $ 6 — and I work next door so they gave me a discount. The guys who work there are very nice and polite — customer service is great here. My favorite pizza of theirs is the triboro — pepperoni, sausage and meatballs. Yummmmm! My hubby loves the Brooklyn which is similar — pepperoni, sausage, garlic and mushrooms. Both of these are on hand for lunch slices. The only reason I’m not giving a five-star review is because when we went at lunch time, the pizzas weren’t fresh and there was nothing fresh coming out of the oven for 15 minutes. They put the pizza in the oven when they serve it and it was still delicious, but it doesn’t look appetizing at first glance and it would have been nice to be eating fresh, hot pizza!

My friend ordered pizza for pick-up on a Thursday night and we were surprised by how busy the restaurant was. I suppose that’s always a good sign to be slammed on a weekday though. We had to wait about 30 minutes to pick up our order but when we arrived, it was ready to go. Our cheese pizza had the perfect combination of cheese and sauce. We enjoyed it so much that we ended up sending my friend’s husband back for a second pizza later that evening. We also got a side of garlic knots and I’d recommend adding them to your order. If you’re not in the mood for a whole pizza, they also sell pizza by the slice.
