Spent the weekend last weekend here with my girl friend. We stayed in the Toalsen suite. The room was great. Enough space but still quaint. Felt like an up-scale ranch house. I was surprised that the food was pretty solid! I love that kids under 12 are not allowed. They always have snacks, iced tea, coffee, and home made sweets available in between meals. We enjoyed a couples massage immediately when we first arrived. The spa was quaint, but nice. The massage was affordable… $ 180 for 2(1) hour massages for a couple plus tip. The nature trails and garden made for wonderful morning walks. We truly let our selves relax and enjoyed it. If you live in Texas, this is a great relaxing and drivable pit stop you shouldn’t pass up on.

This place is amazing. The rooms are very clean with a rustic feel. All of the food is amazing. The staff are all super nice and accommodating. The massage and facial were the best I’ve ever had. Walking trails down to the creek are beautiful. My friends and I are definitely coming back. We’ve already decided this will be our annual girls trip destination.

What a perfectly lovely spot! We enjoyed a girls weekend here and stayed in the Toalsen Room. It was perfect for 4 of us. Modern and updated but comfy and not fussy. Great bathroom! Having our breakfast and dinner made by the hotel was such a treat. Food was delicious, not too much, and healthy. Spa was wonderful and we had a great hike around the property. Sage Hill in May was not too hot, filled with bird song, and beautiful and private surroundings. We felt like we had it to ourselves until meal times. Great staff too. Thanks for the perfect getaway Sage Hill! Highly recommend this spot.

We loved our time at Sage Hill! What a wonderfully quaint, quite, absolutely beautiful place to spend our weekend away! The staff was warm and welcoming. One can come across a little rude but after you get to talking to her, she is just laid back and simple. So don’t jump to conclusions! All are very nice and friendly, from the kitchen to the desk. The food we had was absolutely delicious. Not huge portions but that’s how we are suppose to eat! I was incredibly impressed with the attention to specific guests who requested gluten free options or had other limitations. That requires a lot of organization and preparation! Loved the cookies, energy bars and fresh drinks you always have available. The room(Hartson) was very comfortable and very clean. Our only«complaint» is that our bottom mattress pad thing kept coming off. Just a little annoying. But you do melt into the bed! The property overall… there really aren’t words to describe how wonderful it is. The amenities really are quite impressive. Our massages were AWESOME! You have to go. Soak it in. Enjoy the tranquility. This is affordable luxury at its best.

Lets put it this way. You get what you pay for when you stay in anywhere near as nice as this place. Which I can’t say enough of how much I enjoyed it I really did! I loved the whole expierence from the minute I drove into this place it just had a cool feel to it and the whole non-hotel type of layout was very cool. What took me by suprise in a good way, was the level of professionalism these ladies show when you come into they’re compound its something I think everyone in the hospitality business should strive for. The lady at the front was kind of weird and I didn’t get the impression she liked her job(I CANJUMPTOCONCLUSIONS B/C anyone who pays for anything can, stupid comment the dummy said about«jumping to conclusions what an idiot)., mainly because she lacked eye communication and didn’t speak up when spoken to which leaves one wondering why they keep some of these ladies onboard if they are dead weight to a great business plan. Now to the first night. I rented one of the most luxurious and nice houses in the compound, I forget the name but I had a big family come along so we needed space and I was very suprised how how wide and big the place was and very nicely accomidated all of us under one roof. Now to the outside, wow how nice, even when it was 22 degrees outside with the outside gas fire place, it still was nice, standing around a fire and enjoying eachothers company. No one can put a price on that especially family and or time with friends. Now to breakfast and dinner. First night was nice, my only issue was I was traveling with my grandfather than he caughed loud as most people his age do when they hit they’re 90’s and eat something too large, we all are guilty of that in ref to eating out. In his case the meat he was eating got stuck in this throat and he could not breath correctly, which is a terrible situation especially for him. I could care less about how I looked when this was going on, he mattered more. ! The… Only issue was the guy next to us who was giving him a dead starring contest and of course my poor grandfather was caughing and could care less about«image» Anyways… Hard to belive this nasty, smuggly, rude and arrogant entitled loser who was sitting next to us even looked our way. I than after that point had no other choice but gave the, «you look at me your dead» look, he left with his ugly smuggly wife and his smuggy cheap trasly ugly cloths and left to wherever, thank God. I can tell they were cheap out of towners with no class because they had no compassion and or humility, truly pathetic human waste of a being(C02 makers nothing less nothing more). The rest of the people aside from dumb-and-dumber, were friendly, nice and caring when my grandfather begin to have his issue everyone asked if he was ok… Humility goes a long way, like Karama. Now onwards to… You guessed right! Dinner!!! Dinner was good, the portions were not Texan by any stretch of the immagination they more resembeled something you get in San Francisco. Lol. But, the cook was considered by the owner to be the«top 10 best cooks in Texas». Hard to belive because it didn’t taste like that, but oh well. Must have been his break time off from work. When I left breakfast was served and we left very happy aside from the complications from the trashyard folk. But, other than that. This place is awesome!

We loved Sage Hill. The atmosphere is amazing, with great views of the hill country. The rooms are clean, spacious and relaxing. The food was great for both dinner and breakfast and they are really accommodating if you have any special requests on what to eat. The staff was really helpful and made for a great relaxing stay. Best place to stay around Austin!

This place was absolute heaven. For our 6th Anniversary the hubs and I decided to really celebrate. Enter SHIAOC. We arrived midafternoon to be greeted warmly by a staff member. The grounds were beautiful and our room was perfect for us(Kyle Room). The food each day seemed to be better than the day before. I really enjoyed the amazing breakfasts with really good coffee. The hubs and I spent most of our time just lounging around. One glorious morning I even laid in the hammock for two hours and read. That is perfection for me. They’ve got a game room with tons of games and books that can be borrowed. The hubby and I like to play a mean game of dominoes. They don’t serve alcohol at SHIAOC, so you’ll need to bring your own. I was fine with that. We probably saved a lot of money bringing our own wine to dinner each night. I can’t wait to go back.

Oasis. Heaven. Treasure. Another world. Diamond. How we found this place was a fluke, but I’m so glad we stumbled upon it. Romantic doesn’t even begin to explain how this place makes you feel. Even though there were other guests, it felt like we were alone. So private, and peaceful. The grounds are just breathtaking. The room(Porter room) was spacious and immaculate. That tub… ridiculously amazing. And that bed… a cloud of marshmallow heaven. The food was ok, and their produce was the freshest I’ve had. I wasn’t focused on the food as much, but knowing it was there if we needed to eat was very comforting. We did the Grapes & olives tour as well. Very nice! Lunch at trattoria lisina was amazing(if willing to leave the inn)! All in all… just a perfect weekend, perfect gem of an inn, perfect location.

A quaint little inn with beautiful grounds. Our second time here, and usually repeat customers are welcomed with unusually open arms but we found the staff to be quite militant and ornery. In town with my better half, we came to visit my sister who met us at the inn to pick us up for dinner and then again in the morning to sit outside for coffee before work. Each time they saw us they stopped us and reaffirmed the number of people sleeping in the room because they wanted to charge us more if there were three. It was unwelcoming and uncomfortable. It should have been enough after the third reassurance that no, my adult sister was not sleeping in a one bedroom romantic suite with me and my husband.

The Inn Above Onion Creek was kind enough to donate dinner for two to the local high school baseball fundraiser. My husband and I won it and had a lovely dinner. The potato soup was delicious. Compliments to the chef! We also decided to get a couples massage at the new spa on site and Oh how fabulous! The atmosphere is super relaxing and the massage therapists were perfect! What a great little gem to have in our Buda/Kyle community. Everyone should check it out! I am planning a girls day at the spa soon! Job well done to the entire team!

What a fantastic place to spend the weekend. The people were so nice. We arrived late due to car trouble. They kept our dinner for us on a tray and it was even good cold. We had such a nice time wandering around here. The gardens and the flowers and the butterflies, everything was just so lovely. We can’t wait to come back.

An epic, ultimate, beautiful destination to unwind, relax, and generally take some time off from the world. I booked here on a lark because I had an extra day before SXSW(it’s far enough away from Austin not to jack up the prices) and a suite was open. Had no idea that an excellent chef-prepared _dinner_was included, not just the breakfast. In every possible way they go the extra mile for the guest. I had a discussion with the proprietor, who mentioned she had been in big hotel hospitality for a decade or two — no wonder they know what they’re doing here. Everything here, from the furnishing to the lighting, toiletries, services, decoration, food, is solid. The grounds are pleasant and rustic, just on the border of hill country so rolling hills and a creek. Some big trees. The grounds like like a late 1800s frontier mansion, and furnished with rustic(but clean and solid) antiques — but the buildings are actually fairly new. There’s a vegetable garden and plenty of places for a nice stroll and exploration for kids and adults. A sweet getaway.

My husband and I were looking to find a place close, has food, spa, cozy, etc… for our anniversary. This place was above and beyond what we asked! I’m not sure where to begin so maybe list form… 1. the room we stayed in(Porter) was totally updated, which the website does not reflect yet. Its modern-vintage(repros) without being cold; and truly cozy and inviting. 2. The attention to detail is the thing I liked the most. Water coolers along hiking trails, flash light on keychain, every shape pillow your head could desire, the love they give coffee(you can have ½ n’ ½, whole milk, soy milk, almond milk, skim milk, agave nectar, honey, raw sugar, white sugar, etc…), homemade cookies out all day, use of kitchen all day/night, library, games, movies galore, comfy seating in every comfy nock of the place, root beer, cream soda and water in your room fridge, chocolate by your bed, and this list could go on and on. 3. The food. Totally and absolutely wonderful. I had quail. My husband had steelhead trout. All on greens from the gardens. And rice and mole sauce. And homemade buns. And homemade cinnamon ice cream. All perfectly done. And of course they cater to vegans and vegetarians. 4. Spa was great! We both had massages and I had a facial. The place it’s located now isn’t bad but they are moving closer to the main building and the spa will open up to the gardens. This will be done anywhere between Thanksgiving and the New Year. I highly recommend some kind of treatment while you’re there. 5. The staff. They’re what make the place. Super helpful and friendly when you need them but not up in your grill when you don’t. This is getting too long I think:) I just can’t say enough about it. I’ve been to Lake Austin Spa and to the Hyatt and to a few day spas in town– not one of these can touch on The Inn. Just go. For reals.

Just spent some time last week at the Inn with close friends. It was absolutely fabulous! We stayed at the Ranch House, which was wonderful and super comfortable for the 4 of us. We spent hours talking outside by the fire pit and catching up! The dinner was truly lovely — a fabulous carrot/ginger soup, grilled black drum and home made ice cream for dessert. The breakfast was equally delicious and totally unexpected at how much effort was put in preparing a very generous spread plus fresh squeezed orange juice! Cheers to the chef! I must also say, all the new landscaping and renovations really blew me away! The Inn is so charming and has the perfect Hill Country feel. Great job to the staff!

Stayed here with girlfriends for a weekend away to the hill country. It was a great experience. We partook of some of the spa activities available and just relaxed. We got in very late the first night and they had kept our plates ready for us to take to our rooms and eat. That was much appreciated. The food was very good and made the rates of the rooms much more palatable. The most enjoyable part of the stay other than simply relaxing was getting to visit with the other guests in the morning and evening around the community table and getting to know people we normally would not have spoken to over dinner if we had been at separate tables. It was a nice feeling and good camaraderie and connection to other human beings, strangers even. I hope to return.

The in room fireplace helped create a wonderful evening curled up in one of the most comfy beds. The tub and shower were top notch along with toiletries. The view from our room was postcard perfect. The food was excellent as we had waffles and thick sliced smoky bacon and hand squeezed orange juice for breakfast. The pork tenderloin we had for dinner was succulent and the accompanying sides were a real treat(I think my grandmother might have been cooking that night, lol!). Dinner was shared with other guest as was two bottles of wine we brought. You are free to bring your own adult beverages. The grounds were a welcomed escape from the laptop and tv. We spent about two hours getting away near the dry creek bed and enjoyed the silence of nature. Oh, we took some cookies on our walk(oatmeal/cranberry) from the all you care to eat option. Amy and the rest of the staff were great along with the guest we met. We will be back to escape the busy world of our lives.

The Inn is a lovely place in the Texas Hill Country. We were in the Ranch House for a family girls weekend and it was beautiful. Beds were like clouds. Great decks, wonderful trails, awesome pool. Perfect place for a relaxing family gathering. However, the food ranged from mediocre to really not great. I had the best choices because I asked for vegetarian fare. But for the meat lovers, it was really bad. We were there 4 nights and were served chicken twice, an indistinguishable fish dish and pork tenderloin. You would think in Texas, on a cattle ranch, there would be beef at least one night. Starters were uninspiring, main vegetarian entrees included nice fresh veggies but the meat entrees were not great. One night, the chicken was so salty, no one in our party could eat much of it, similarly the fish was largely uneaten. The pork tenderloin seemed fine but the bacon it was wrapped in was completely raw. Desserts were also nothing to write home about– Chocolate cake was dry. We saw lots of roadside stands with fresh peaches, tomatoes, squash, greens but not much of that ended up at the table. It was too bad really, as it was a lovely setting and first class in every other way. Hope it is a brief and temporary problem.

My husband and I just finished a staycation visit to the Texas Hill Country. The Inn Above Onion Creek was our last stop but we wish it had been first… we never would have bothered to go elsewhere. The setting was lovely, offering great views of the Texas sunset, a glorious and newly rebuilt pool deck where we swam after dark watching the bats swooping around. The food was delicious and significantly better than the other B&B’s we stayed at while out. The dinner was roasted quail, swiss chard from their gardens and sauteed mushrooms. Bring your own bottle of wine to dinner, relax and enjoy the natural and pleasant conversation with your tablemates. We met some lovely people! Our room(Kuykendahl) was two stories which was perfect since I go to bed earlier than my hubby… he was able to read without disturbing me. The shower in the room was larger than the entire bathroom of my first apartment! It had a front and back porch that enabled us to enjoy the gardens as well as the sunset. Perfect setting. We will be back!

A Magical Place for A Magical Event! Sherri and I celebrated our 25th Anniversary and were trying to find a place not too far out of Austin… but a World away! We stumbled upon Inn Above Onion Creek’s website and were lucky that they had 1 room left, The Kuykendahl. And boy were we lucky! Upon checking in, Amy, Don and the entire staff could not be friendlier. They helped us to our Suite, showed us the grounds, and basically have us access to the entire place! What was truly special was the way they accommodated our dietary needs, and prepared us special gluten and dairy free meals. The Kuykendahl Suite is to die for. It’s a 2 story, with front and back balconies overlooking the magnificent Hill Country. Everything is completely first class… but the topper is the Master Bath. Undoubtedly, the coolest, richest we have ever seen! A HUGE2 person Jacuzzi in front of a picture window with the Hill Country beyond, and shower that could comfortably handle 6(but we kept it to just the two of us)! Dinner was delicious. The camaraderie with other guests was wonderful, and the entire evening couldn’t have been better. Thank you IAOC for making our 25th Anniversary as perfect as we always imagined!
