Besides the grounds being absolutely gorgeous, the wine is pretty great. Taste 3 different wines for free. Friendly staff and beautiful gift shop.

This winery is also known as Tedeschi Winery, why? no clue but when we visited that was the name. The tour was worth the drive and the drive was worth any thing. Beautiful areas to view while driving for that glass of wine. The tour was amazing and so were the samplings. I purchased a wine opener as my remembrance of this winery. Take time out for this visit, like I have said, read other reviews and you will always have some thing to do every day of your visit to Maui.

The history of the land was beautifully told to us by our tour guide. The winery tour was brief and informative. The tasting room was crowded and loud, mixed in with the gift shop. I wish it were more intimate. Our sommelier was too busy to talk to us about our wine, which is usually my favorite part of tasting.

Maui is full of amazing life experiences. The two most popular journeys are along the road to Hana and the Haleakala crater. A less popular journey, but well worth your time, is the journey through upcountry Maui to Maui Wine. This journey will take you on a drive through the country side on the south facing slopes of Haleakala between 1,700 and 1,8500 feet. So bring a coat, as the temperatures are a bit cooler here. Visiting the winery brings you closer to the historic agricultural culture of Maui. The 23 acre vineyard is located on the historic Ulupalakua Ranch which still operates today. You can visit the ranch store and café across the street from the tasting room. The winery started in the 1970’s and while the owners waited for the vineyard to develop they decided to experiment with making wine from Maui pineapples. When the pineapple business went under, the winery bought the pineapple plantations and started Maui Gold. Which grows pineapples today. The pineapple wine was so popular that it remains the flagship wine of Maui Wine. The tasting room itself is located in the King’s cottage which once was the mountain retreat for King Kalakaua of Hawaii and his Queen Kapiolani. On their 23 acres they grow syrah, Malbec, Grenache, viognier, chenin blanc, and gewürztraminer grapes. The Syrah is the most popular. The tasting room provides complimentary tours and tastings. The tours take place 3 times a day at 10:30am, 1:30pm, and 3:30pm. The tasting room highlights the beautiful wines of Maui Wine. It is simple and inviting. We were greeted warmly during our visit, and provided with a tasting menu. Maui Wines has three different categories of wines you can taste, the Pineapple Wine, Estate Wine, and Rose Ranch wines(sparkling & sweet). They make three different types of Pineapple wine: sparkling, off dry, and sweet. I was surprised by how crisp and flavorful the off dry Maui Blanc was. It paired very well with my Christmas ham this year. There wasn’t anything we tasted that we didn’t like. The standouts for me were the Maui Blanc, and the sparkling rose(awesome label that creates a 3d image when wet). Their Syrah was also OK, as well as the sweet Framboise dessert wine. The Maui Blanc though is like nothing I have had before, and very special. All my holiday guests were delightfully surprised by it. The tour is worth taking. You get to learn more about the monthly production process of the Pineapple wine and their other varietals. The staff are incredibly informative and passionate about their work. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit, and would highly recommend it to anyone. They don’t serve food onsite. Just the tastings and bottles to purchase that you can take away. I also noticed that at several Maui restaurants they had the wine on the menu to order.

We visited recently and went on a tour with(I think her name was) Erica. The tour was great! We learned a lot about the history of the entire Ulupalakua ranch and the winery, as well as the process that Maui Wine uses and some of the ways they adjust to being a winery on an island. You could tell our tour guide was super knowledgeable in the entire wine-making process– she was fantastic! We also partook in the free tastings, which was also great. The pineapple wines are super interesting and a very cool and unique aspect of Maui Wine. The grape wines were a little less impressive– they weren’t terrible, but they weren’t amazing either. I still had a great time and definitely went home with a bottle of their sparkling pineapple wine.

Cute little tasting room tucked in the backcountry of Maui. Took us a little over an hour from Kaanapali to get here, but the drive was beautiful! My boyfriend and I are huge wine lovers, so going to the only winery In Hawaii sounded really cool. The only thing I wish we knew before was that they offered you three free tastings, and that’s it. I thought we would be able to pay for a flight tasting or at least buy a bottle and enjoy some of it on the property. The woman who worked there said that they have been trying to get the right liquor license and the laws are really strict. But don’t let this stop you from visiting the gorgeous property, the awesome drive up, and good wine. We ended up buying a couple bottles. Definitely an experience you will always remember!

We took the complementary tour and the complementary tastings and they were all very fun! No need to make a reservation, just show up! Among the group we tried all of the pineapple wines and thought they were very nice — there is a dry and sweet option depending on your taste and we all thought the sparkling pineapple wine was great! There are some grape based wines as well that very fairly well done, some were better then others. But you come here to try unique pineapple wine. On the tour we learned that they used a grape press to press the pineapples to make the juice for the wine — very cool! The tour also covers the ranch’s history in relation to Hawaiian kings and through past owners. It’s very well done.

This place is about 20 minutes past Haleakala Park. Pros: Tasting of 3 wines is free. The free tour is good… You learn history of the property and about the wine making process and get a half glass of the sparkling red. Grounds are very nice. Cons: You can’t buy additional samples and they don’t sell by the glass. Also, you can’t buy an open bottle to enjoy on the property. So, don’t expect a leisurely afternoon sipping wine and eating cheese here

My family and I had a great time at tonight’s Christmas tree lighting. Food was good! My fav was the bread pudding. Of course, I enjoyed the wine tasting too!

The drive alone is worth it: The Kula Highway is gorgeous, cool, temperate and greener than Ireland. Rest stops include the Holy Ghost Church, a labor of love by the significant Portuguese community, and the Sun Yat Sen park, both with incredible views of the ocean below. The wine operation is based on locally grown pineapples(a great almost dry sparkling wine) and classic wine grapes(Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Viognier, Chenin blanc, Pinot noir, and Syrah. Staff is friendly, knowledgeable. Tastings of up to three wines are free. Prices range from $ 15(the still Maui Blanc) to $ 40(for the Syrah). While forty bucks was a bit much, the Syrah(esp. the 2012) was quite good given the challenge of raising decent grapes where the climate is so equable that the vines never go to sleep. Across the street is a totally cute café, the Ulupalani(sp?). Great burgers(beef, lamb, elk, venison).

Maui wine. We went here after the zipline tour. The drive is about 45 minutes through very narrow and curving roads. The site itself is also a mini museum in the«Rose Ranch» and was visited by the last King of Hawaii. The grounds are nice for a quick walk. The tasting room has a bit of a small museum in it with the history of the owners of the ranch and the area. There are tours at 11:30, 1:30 and 3:30 daily. The wine tasting room is open from 10:00 — 5:00 pm daily. They have a selection of sparkling and white wines and a single red wine. Much f the wine they make is from grapes grown on site. However, they do bring grape juice in from California to make wine on site. They have two sparkling wines. One is pineapple infused and the other is a normal sparkling. I was actually impressed with both and pleasantly surprised with the pineapple wine. They are $ 24 and $ 28 each. The Syrah red was the most expensive at $ 40. It was nothing to write home about. I am not James Parker, but I like his taste in wines. I would give this a 86 or 87 score as it was light bodied and sharp, not what I expect from a Californian Syrah. The least expensive«Maui Splash» white wine with pineapple, was too sweet and sharp. It runs about $ 14 and we found it in Safeway and other stores for the same price. The drive was a bit nausea inducing at points. But the tasting room itself and the grounds are worth visiting for a free Maui experience! The wines are good but not great.(In my uneducated opinion.) The girls in the tasting room are pleasant attentive and informed about the wine and history of the winery and the grounds. If you like going to wine tastings then you should go here. If for nothing else then to say you went to the vineyard and tasting room of the only winery in Maui.

We had a friend who brought the Lokelani to a bbq before we went to Maui. Lokelani is a lively little sparking rose wine. We all loved it so of course stopping by Maui Wine to pick up more was a must! The grounds are stunning! Lush greenery with gorgeous large wood carvings line the walk into the tasting room. The tasting room was extremely busy but we found an open spot and the staff was very quick and attentive about getting us samples of the wines. We actually ended up tasting all the wines they had to offer. In addition to the Lokelani, which is a sparking rose, I found the Hula O Maui quite nice as well. The Hula O Maui is a sparking pineapple wine. It is light, crisp and just a touch of sweet. At check out as we were getting the Lokelani and Hula O Maui the lady said that both were delicious with a touch of the Framboise wine added in. Oh my! That is such a great and tasty idea. Needless to say we bought a few more bottles and added in the Framboise as well. The drive to get here is absolutely beautiful and for any wine lover it is a must stop!

This place was awesome! Truly amazing and it is worth fitting it into your Maui schedule. My Husband and I were in Hawaii for our Honeymoon during the Summer of 2015. We were on the Norwegian cruise and we rented a car and drove to the winery. The drive along the Hawaiian countryside was beautiful. We arrived at the winery right when they opened. Samples were delicious and the staff was friendly. The pineapple wines(especially Hula O Maui– the sparkling pineapple wine) were all amazing. We ordered some online when we returned home.

Also known as Tedeschi Winery or Ulupalakua Ranch Winery(kinda confusing) but either way, great free tour of the grounds and the free tastings were great, loved the pineapple champagne, YUM! Definitely worth a trip to learn about how they make wine on such a humid island which is different than the average oak barrel process. Then stop across the street for lunch at the Ulupalakua Ranch store.
