I’m not reviewing this company for their product but for their service. I am visiting from Oahu and want to start off by saying say that the people here on Molokai have been amazing and have honestly made this one of the most enjoyable inter island trips I have taken. My trip to the gift shop was definitely my least favorite interaction with anyone here and if I didn’t want some of the local coffee so much I would have walked out. This coffee plantation definitely has the local/tourist coffee need on lock down so customer service must not be their number one priority. I was taken off guard when I received the passive aggressive attitude of the woman working in the gift shop after my mom asked a simple question about another establishment just down the street. I will absolutely be visiting Molokai again in the future but will not be visiting the particular place again.

This visit was hilarious. We walked in to find the coffee/espresso section under renovation until Jan 4th. No samples for us. I asked the staff if there was a museum or tour or something. She proceeded to give a very powerful lecture on the plantation. At first you think she is yelling at you but that is just hawaiian local strength and attitude! She knew her stuff and was a great salesman. We bought coffee beans and got free macadamia nuts! Interesting little shop but dont plan on going for more than 10 minutes. No tours or things to see.

We love coming here whenever we can, especially on Tuesdays & Thursday when the Ukulele club is playing. The Mocha Mama’s are awesome.

For a coffee plantation, they have 1) very little coffee and 2) their coffee tastes terrible

I’ve been a recurring order customer of Coffee-of-Hawaii for 6 years. Their coffee is great, but the business practices are a bit lacking. It took them 8 months to fix payment issues on their website and today I realized that they raised the price of my standing coffee order from $ 160 to $ 225 without any notice or communication. How does one justify a 40% price increase overnight without any notice? The price increased from $ 90 to $ 160 over the past six years… so it’s not like they haven’t been increasing prices periodically. While the coffee is great, business practices are not. Be sure to check your invoices/receipts for standing orders. Please let me know if anyone has suggestions for other Kona coffee suppliers.

The woman behind the counter in the gift shop(forty-ish with a tight shirt and hair pulled back-Leialoha on my receipt) was extremely rude, did not know when to stop talking(too much coffee?) and couldn’t listen to any of my questions before continuing to blab robotically about the plantation then excusing herself for blabbing by claiming that this was our«tour of the plantation» since they don’t give actual tours. Firstly, I never wanted nor signed up for your verbal(or any other) «tour» and secondly, sorry if you were having a bad day but when someone comes in to buy coffee that’s $ 23.00 per 8 oz. bag, you should try to exercise some manners. I’ll give an extra star because the gift shop is actually nice and clean and coffee smells so good but I would not step foot in here again if they were giving that coffee away knowing I had to deal with her.

Order the iced coffee… coffee ice cubes, and a combination of 4 varieties. It taste like a coffee liquor with blackberry and chocolate notes! A great treat. We also ordered the papaya mango smoothie… it was tasty too. We came back for the Mocha Mama but it was closed! Until next time Molokai’i!

If you are on Molokai this is an experience you should not miss! Tuesday mornings at 10 you are seranaded on the porch for 2 hours with hawaiian and popular music, played by local musicans accompanied by many ukalali players. Amazing voices and instrumentalists and even a hula. The mocha mama is a killer, 3 scoops of ice cream in the drink and if you drink too fast you get a brain freeze. The service is excellent and the young ladies behind the counter were personable and friendly. They knew my name after 2 stops. They have to manage a never ending flow of people at busy times in a small space and do a great job. You should be aware when you are on Molokai you need to sloow down and get on Molokai time otherwise you are on the wrong island.

Since my last rave review their prices have skyrocked 50 to 100%! I loved their coffee but will no longer order it online.

I have nothing but good things to say about this place, unfortunately we only found it the last day we were here. The coffee was great. I had chicken enchiladas that were on special. They were only $ 5 and were delicious, I would have ordered two! The plastic and styrofoam here is a bit outta control and the workers were eating while working the register which was just ridiculous no matter where you’re from. We probably would have eaten here more if we had come across it sooner.

Coffee is fine; grown and roasted in their own fields across the road, tastes rich and smooth. Espresso drinks available. Breakfast is basically microwaved waffles served in styrofoam containers with fake butter and syrup in plastic cups. Saddened to see how much waste is generated and destined for the landfill form a restaurant that touts it’s «green» heritage(their coffee plantation and processing). They serve sandwiches and soups and salads for lunch– all fine but nothing amazing. Nice seating under the front porch but not much of a view(parking lot and road) although they do host occasional live music. Service is very friendly. Stop by if you’re in the neighborhood but I can’t recommend this place as a destination.

It is amazing the things that you remember when you sit down to recant your experiences on Unilocal. I realized today that I have never reviewed any of the places that we frequent on Molokai. So, Moloka’i Coffee Plantation is absolutely wonderful! Discovered their coffee when I was working for Starbuks and sorry but I have to admit, there is nothing like 100% Moloka’i Coffee. My two absolute favorites are: Malulani Estate that has a hint of chocolate and the Moloka’i Island Princess with vanilla beans in the blend. SOGOOD! Their blended cool beverages are super yummy too!

I was none too thrilled about waking up at the crack of dawn to fly over to Molokai, but a latte from Coffee’s of Hawaii quickly lifted my mood. Actually, it changed my whole perspective because with one sip, I never wanted to go back to Starbucks. Perfectly smooth and not bitter at all. Plus, free local newspaper and WiFi to help you start the day. I’m sure much of my amazing latte had to do with the quality and freshness of their coffee beans. Grown, picked, dried, and roasted right in their backyard. I scooped up a bag of Moloka’i Muleskinner to take home. In addition to beverages, the espresso bar has sandwiches and salads on their menu. Wouldn’t go crazy with your drink order though.(Double Grande 2-pump Vanilla Non-Fat Extra Hot Latte, I’m talking to you.) They only have 2% milk, if that gives you an idea.

Dad and sister had mocha mamas and enjoyed them greatly. Had the caramel one myself and it was definitely a tasty teat. Reasonably priced too.

Molokai Island Princess is flavored with Polynesian vanilla bean and is EXCELLENT. The vanilla flavor is pretty light, not at all overpowering, so you can still taste the delicious coffee. Time to refill my cup!

You really can’t go wrong with the Mocha Mama, which I come out here for every Sunday(and yes, that is a 20 mile drive each way, so you know it’s good). It’s a thick, rich drink with espresso, vanilla ice cream, chocolate, whipped cream, and chocolate syrup. mmmmm — goood. They recently expanded the deck and seating area so you can read the paper and relax while sipping your drink. They also have a great lunch menu with custom deli sandwiches(ham, roast beef, turkey, etc.) and fun local flavors from the bakery, as well as desserts galore. If you’re a tea drinker, you can have a good variety, and there are also fruit smoothie drinks on the menu. There’s a mule-drawn plantation tour where you can check out the coffee, and there are also walking and self-guided tours. [ EDIT effective 02÷2011− call since this may not be running anymore] Kupuna night — with music! — is on Sunday afternoons around 3pm — 5pm. Did I mention the gift shop with Hawaii-style fun tchotchkes? I usually mix this up for guests with a trip to Post-a-nut at the Hoolehua post office, a ride up to the Phallic Rock and Kalaupapa lookout, and then a stop by Denise’s gifts and pickup mac nuts at Purdy’s on the way home. UPDATE: effective 12/2010, the store section has been reopened as Blue Monkey, by the owners of Big Wind Kite Factory in Maunaloa town, who bring their eclectic and beautiful handmade and artisan selection of products, including musical instruments, pareos, natural hemp clothing and of course, kites, to the store.

This coffee plantation was recently bought by Coffees of Hawaii and reopened for business. They now grow, pick, dry and roast coffee beans here. We went on the walking tour(10 am daily, $ 10 a piece) and saw most of the operation. We also did a taste test, where we got to compare the different types of roasting. There is also a mule tour twice daily which we did not try. Of course, the reason to come here is for the coffee shop. Its the best on the island, and the home of the Mocha Mama, an ice cream and espresso concoction that is impossible to resist. They also have a whole bevy of espresso drinks and sandwiches. So yes, we drove 15 miles each way for coffee several days of our vacation. And we didn’t regret it, not at all.
