Duck Donuts

Honestly the best donuts I have ever had. Super perfect. They have a bunch of glazes and toppings you put on top. I honestly think you can’t go wrong it is all absurdly delicious. Unfortunately the word is out and the lines here can get long. But they keep the lines moving at a reasonable pace. We found going before 7 or after 12 was best. A long breakfast rush.

What a cool place! We are visiting the outer banks for a week and our friend, the NC local was raving about Duck Donuts and how good they are so we stopped in to buy a bucket of donuts. The staff was friendly and encouraged us to come up with our own creations. It took a while with choosing 18 donuts lol. But we were so happy we stopped in! This is a must visit place if you’re driving through!

If you haven’t «made your own» donut at Duck Donuts, you don’t know what your missing.
The maple bacon is far and away the best donut ever!

We’re from the North East, where Dunkin Donuts reigns, but this place tops them all. Warm, made-​to-​order donuts are hard to beat. My favorite was the maple glaze, bacon topping and salted caramel drizzle. Stop here at least once during your stay!

I love the concept this place presents. Basically a make your own doughnut place. You pick basically everything that makes up the doughnut. They were very tasty and a great, lazy breakfast.
If you want these doughnuts I have to suggest that you make it here early. The one day that we did decide to get these we drug our feet getting here and didn’t realize the hours. Our bad mistake. We did get them the next day and we were so very happy that we did.
Definitely the perfect way to start the day.

Amazing!!! Duck donuts recently made its way near where we live and when there was one right across the hotel we are staying, we couldn’t resist a trip.
We went around 9:30 on a Saturday (over Memorial Day weekend) and the place was packed. The line was wrapped around the small store a couple of times. As usual, we had to figure out what our sweet tooth cravings were to fill out the order but we managed! The line moved slow, but that was understandable since nearly everyone in there was ordering at least a dozen.
The whole family thought it was neat to see the donut fryer plop down the donuts, flip them over and send them out on the tray. Really went to show how fresh the donuts were as we watched the employees take the donuts straight from there and put them in the orders they were filling.
The donuts came out hot and delicious and we devoured them! They were absolutely delicious and exactly what we wanted. We might even have to make another trip over there before we head home.

soooo good. They’re hot when they give them to you and made to order. It was fun watching the dough plop into the fryer and see them cook right in front of you. We got a half dozen to share and demolished them in 5 minutes. My personal faves were the chocolate glaze with chocolate sprinkles, and the cinnamon sugar with vanilla glaze.

You cannot go to the Outer Banks without stopping by Duck Donuts… these are hands down the BEST donuts I’ve ever had in my life! They’re fresh, warm, and made to order. I haven’t had a flavor I didn’t like, and I’m very picky. But beware… if you happen to go on a Saturday or Sunday morning you’ll be waiting in a long, long line. (But It’s worth it I promise)

This place never disappoints. The donuts are made fresh and they are on point. I love customers ability to customize donuts and their shirts are adorable. Definitely a place to stop by when your at the OBX. It ain’t a real vacation without a dozen of these babies. Love seeing a local company do so well.

You cannot come to the OBX and not try these! I do not know who classifies as a «donut person» but if I could eat one of these every day I would. We got a dozen in an assortment and were not disappointed. My favorite was the «beach» one which was melted vanilla frosting with cinnamon sugar sprinkled on top. I also liked the french toast one! We got the maple bacon one that everyone raved about and it was just not my style, I prefer my bacon salty and I did not enjoy it covered in sugar, but that is just a personal preference!

Bottom Line: Fresh cake donuts finished to order and served with southern hospitality.
The concept at Duck Donuts is simple — only one type of donut, cake donuts, are made and then the plain cake donuts are coated and topped per the customers order. Examples of coatings include a simple glaze, powdered sugar, chocolate frosting or peanut butter frosting. Examples of toppings include chcocolate sprinkles, coconut, peanuts and bacon.
The donuts are made fresh and you may even be able to watch the automated machine squeeze the dough in the fryer, fry the donut and then drop it in the cooling tray. What is really nice about these made to order donuts is that they are always fresh. Also what is super nice is the southern hospitality.
There are several locations of Duck Donuts in OBX. This particular location is at MP 1, facing the beach road, across from the Hilton Garden Inn.

One word… AMAZING!
These donuts were the best ever! Hot and freshly made to order. Literally melt in your mouth. Kind of thankful we didn’t find this place until the end of our vacation!

Donuts made while you wait. So warm, soft, to die for. Cake donuts. You choose the icing and topping. Heaven in your mouth!

The donuts here are really amazing, I dunno how other donut places survive in the OBX.
The texture of the donut is perfect — not too cakey and not too doughy. I also like that they keep it simple with not too many crazy flavor concoctions. I had a taste of a few varieties. My favorites were (in order): cinnamon sugar, frosted rainbow sprinkles, and bacon maple icing.
Parking in this parking lot can get a little crazy around dinner time! I don’t have any tips or suggestions for that, but maybe the other locations might have better parking.

My review is entirely based on what others have told me about these donuts because they don’t have any gluten-​free options, but that’s ok because I can see why.
When we came to pick up a big order for the fam, there was a considerable line around 9am already on a Friday morning. I could see the two tiny machines cranking out the globs of dough right into the hot oil and then launching them out the other end. Which is how I can see it would be impossible for them to do gluten free because they would have had to switch out the entire container that plopped out the dough and it would still be shared oils so there’s not really much point.
But I also hate them a little for that because it smelled SO GOOD and all of their frosting combos were creative and very drool-​inducing.
They instantly disappeared as soon as we put the box on the kitchen counter. So don’t let my bitterness because I couldn’t partake sway you!

Be prepared to endure a new addiction. And while you’re at it, grab a cup of beach blend coffee to complete your order.

So hard to resist! We were staying across the street at a hotel. So, we were excited when we saw this as we pulled up to our hotel. It was Memorial day weekend and man was it slammed! We thought getting their by 8am would help, but the line was out the door. The staff was working very hard! I was impressed with how fast the line moved. The service was fantastic! Super friendly! They gave us a free donut because my husband was wearing his Duck Donut t-​shirt. We all have one… so next time, we will all wear our shirts! We also ordered a breakfast bagel to give us a little protein to share. It was delicious as well. I really enjoy their coffee! The donuts are amazing. Enough said.
