Good doggies, good fries, awesome beer selection. Owner knows his/her beers that’s for sure. Had the carolina and mad dog or something like that. Chicken fingers were ok according to wife.

Okay… I liked it just fine but the kids did not care for it. Service was quick. I thought it was a bit pricey for hot dogs… kids meals come on a Frisbee.

Local eatery older than I am! Love that it’s still a family run local business, in its 2nd generation of ownership! and although I don’t eat hot dogs much anymore, will always make it a point to support this local establishment. They must be great employers too, as they have the same staff which sticks around for many years. I get the fried chicken sandwich with cheese & pickles, and a side of cheese fries(order them with the cheese in the side!) My family loves the steamed shrimp, and we eat outdoors during the summer. Love that we can ride bikes here and that one of the Hess’s(owners) are always present. Say hi to HARVEY next time you’re there! Capt Franks is an Outer Banks icon in its own rite, your family will be happy with a local, quick, fast bite. They do have lines in the summer during lunch hour, but will roll through with a pad and take orders so you don’t end up waiting very long.

Best hot dog spot anywhere. Outside and inside seating. They even have a play ground with benches for families

Pass. Captain Jack has never been to Chicago and his Chicago dog reflects exactly that. Rude service. Stupid prices. Gross

Rudest place ever. It was busy and people back out the door and instead of waiting on customers keep complaining about the door not being shut. Cause there’s a line out the door duh dumbass!

Overall, it’s a decent hot dog place. It’s fast, casual, and there is a lot of variety. I agree with others that it is a bit pricey for a hot dog, but it’s still a cheaper lunch option compared to other places.

This is a quick bite to eat kind of stop… hot dogs were good, fries were a lil undercooked and for what we ate, a bit pricey. There was a line to get in but it went quickly. The dining area itself is small but there is outside seating available. I’d go again if we lived in the area. You should give this place a try if you’re in the mood for a quick bite to eat.

This is decent hot dog place. The dogs are reasonably-good and the prices are reasonable. I’ve had better dogs at a few places, but overall a good spot.

This is your typical hot dog place. The only difference is they offer almost every topping that you can imagine. From mayo to chili it was good. but 40 $ for four people eating hot dogs and a side of cheese fries and 4 waters from the tap is a little much.

great casual atmosphere with so many different topping combos! my partner and I came here after a long drive to OBX and enjoyed a well-deserved lunch on our first day of vacation. service was swift at the counter and all the employees are friendly. the set-up of the restaurant was a little confusing, because as you walk in, the first thing you see on your right is the tshirt stand, and we ended up accidentally standing in that line for a bit before realizing the counter is located 5 feet in front of us instead. there is a indoor and outdoor sitting area on the bottom deck, with a nice upper deck too for seating. the shopping plaza it’s located in is great for browsing and window shopping. we got our food relatively quickly and it and was delicious! I had the Chicago dog and my partner had the bbq sandwich. the slaw was fresh and crunchy. there are many different size of hotdogs for the varying levels of hungry. I went with regular and it filled me up! definitely would recommend this place for cheap eating and families. the décor was beautiful with many colorful beach chairs setting a great setting for the beach house view!

Great little lunch place for that greasy spoon comfort food. My only beef with this place is what they call a CHICAGO dog. They make it with chili, mustard, onion, and cole slaw. Don’t get me wrong, that sounds like a great dog, but that is NOT a Chicago dog. I’m almost offended at the fact that they listed it as such. Otherwise, good place to take the kids too. They have a playground out back.

Hands down the best place to come for lunch while at the beach. The owners are great people who make everyone feel welcome. Kids meals come served on a frisbee as the toy. Great value. Also, if you have a pet, they are welcome. Family tradition for us to come everyday for lunch!!! The steak and cheese is the best in the beach.

Fun place to eat! Don’t let the portions fool ya! I ordered a chili dog with hushpuppies and a soda. The food itself wasn’t exquisite and came in small portions, but it was surprisingly very filling. My family and I ate outside. The beach breeze and oldies playing in the back made our lunch experience even better. Fast service. I recommend for those in the area craving a filling lunch at reasonable prices. They have both indoor and outdoor seating; even a porch to sit on the second floor to look over the banks.

Don’t expect huge hotdogs but they are good! I always love crinkle fries! The hush puppies were in the shape of cheese puffs but were really good! Service was EXCELLENT and friendly!

The service was fast; the joint was cool; the staff friendly– yet, the food was nothing to write home about. I’m a food snob though, so don’t take my word for it. My kids were full and we were on our way after a quick romp on the pirate ship and swings they have set up outside. If it matters to you, Johnny Cash seems to have popped in here once upon a time.

It is so great that some things don’t seem to change, or if they do it is to get better. We’ve been coming here almost from the beginnig(mid-1970“s), and it is a nice, funky place for a quick lunch, and there is plenty of outside seating. You order and pay at the counter, and your food is brought to the table — and these folks are quick to fill your order. Almost any dog is a good choice — though the Chicago Dog is not even nearly a real Chicago Dog, more like a Slaw Dog, and it is good. The Sausage Dog is also very good, but only come in a foot long version, that’s a lott of sausage. Even the Eastern NC pit style Barbecue is good, but not a real threat to High Cotton, a little ways up the beach road. Always enjoy this place. We’ll be back.
