Stopped in for a «real» turkey sandwich, and I’m not quite sure what I got. It didn’t quite seem like the real bird was being carved in the back. I usually ask, but seemed like a they would have it of all places. My friend had to he ham, since they were all OUT of all roast beef, which is hat seemed to be the best seller. Potato salad was not so good. We couldn’t be at it. Too much tarragon? Both of us really disappointed sinc we payed extra. The herb they used was so overwhelming the second taste didn’t happen. Ya, might go back. Not sure.

This shop has become a staple lunch stop for us on our way through ME. The sandwiches are bit on the basic side, but the roast beef is very good. In all honesty they could use a better quality ham, as what they use feels a bit too watery for my liking. Still, a better than average bite for lunch!

Stopped by this little sandwich shop on the way home from Portland and loved it. The people were friendly and help and the service was speedy. I got the Windsor which is there staple of sliced beef, lettuce, tomato and cucumber and got it as a wrap and it didn’t last but about 2 minutes on my plate. Lauren for a wrap as well but with turkey, avocado, lettuce, tomato and ranch. She couldn’t eat it all so I had some and actually thought it was better than mine and mine was unbelievable. There are side options like potato salad and chips but we didn’t get anything with our wraps other than cokes. There is indoor and outdoor seating and on a nice day I would recommend sitting outside because of how scenic that part of York is. Only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because I think my beef could have been cut a little more finely because almost every time I took a bite I took a huge chunk of beef with it that left the next bite with little to no beef and just a lot of lettuce and tomato. Overall got out with two wraps and two sodas for around 15 bucks.

The chopped prime rib sandwich is unlike any other sandwich you’ll find around. The bread is also very good. Only down side is that the sandwiches are a little on the small side, but they are so good that the size is just a minor detail. When I’m really hungry I just order two!

Just north of all the outlets in Kittery, this is a must have! The chowder is excellent. We had the Cardinal and it was amazing!

Great place to stop for a quick lunch. I got one of the specials, the monarch: a pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw on a bun. It was messy but delicious! My boyfriend loved his roast beef sandwich also and said it was the best roast beef sandwich he had ever had.

Excellent variety of freshly-made(made to order) sandwiches. Very friendly staff and a nice roomy dining area. We stopped for lunch and everyone(including our 11 and 13 year old) loved their meals.

Really, really great sandwiches! I’ve been a few times and loved it each time. This small and clean lunch stop is perfect if you want a quick meal, with out resorting to traditional fast food. We visited this past Wednesday, ordered, sat ourselves and had our sandwiches in about 5 minutes. Everything was fresh and made to order — we’ll be back next time we’re in the area!

Fairly decent sandwich, but just way overpriced for what you get. The sandwich is small. I would rather pay a few dollars more and get a larger sandwich. Feels very similar to earl of sandwich. Bread was fairly good. The meat was tender. Something about the ratio was off though. Still a decent find in a random off beaten city.

Prompt service, fresh cuts of meat, ordered plain roast beef — it’s served chunked. Would have preferred shaved, style preference, meat was tender good flavor, served on warm soft fresh Hoggie, overall good. My friend had the same but with pickles and BBQ sauce she felt the same, would have preferred shaved roast beef over cubed but overall good.

Wow just happen to swing by as I wanted«just a sandwich». I got much more than expected in a sandwich. We had the beefeater and the cardinal. The slices of meat were very generous. And the sauces and dressings were awesome! Wish I could have posted pictures, but they were so good that we totally forgot! LOL. Price was very good for getting more than«just a sandwhich»! A must stop when we are back in Maine!

We lost our heads over the amazing selection of sandwiches. Fresh bread, quality meats and a friendly, clean café. The Dragonslayer sandwich promised lots of spicy horseradish(«not for the timid») but it actually was pretty tame which was a bit of a letdown. Overall we enjoyed the food though and definitely will make this a stop when we are in Kittery.

Very good sandwiches, but a little small for what you pay. Quality products, though. You don’t feel guilty about eating something so tasty, because of the quality.

Absolutely the best roast beef sandwich I have had in a very long time. The beef is so well prepared and the bread is excellent, DONOT use any condiments as nothing is needed. My home inspector brought me here for lunch and he did the ordering, four beef eaters with extra beef two for each of us, I couldn’t help myself and yes I ate both! Definitely bringing my bride and kids to this place. Five stars just isn’t enough.

Great, fast, quality sandwiches. Fresh ingredients, unique, filling sandwich combinations. We had a caprese(countess) and real prime rib for the roast beef(serf) sandwiches. AND they serve diet coke. Served by the super kind owner… Definitely will be back!

I adore this place! This nice casual, low key atmosphere, medieval decorations(suit of armor! Henry VIII portrait!), and themed names of their sandwiches(eg. Duke of Pork, Earl of Bernaise) makes for a great little sandwich shop that I’ll definitely head back to. Don’t forget to grab a loyalty card! I ordered the Dragon Slayer sandwich… and I was slayed. Chunks of roast beef(not slices!) and a copious amount of horseradish that made the follicles of my hair tingle, only moderated by some au jus and Eli’s root beer. I got my Dragon Slayer«crowned,» which means lettuce, tomato, extra meat, and au jus for dipping. Totally worth it. My friend got one of the turkey specials of the day with bacon and caramelized onions(the Chancellor?) that was just so sweet and savory and wonderfully balanced. We also split chickpea salad, which was just citrusy and light. Perfect quick lunch on our way out to York.

Deeee-lic-ious! My husband and I stopped in right when they opened on our trip home from a wedding in Portland. We’ve passed by a few times in the past and always have said, «we will have to try that place sometime.» And this was the time. We met the owner(maybe?) in the parking lot putting out the«open» sign and he welcomed us inside. The menu options all sounded so fantastic it was hard to decide but my husband and I both went with specialty sandwiches, both with carved turkey I believe. Mine had a fantastic pesto and tomato sauce(had a fancier name than sauce and was not akin to the stuff you put on pasta but I’m having a hard time retrieving the name of the stuff exactly.) My husbands sandwich had avocado and I’m not sure what else but he was licking his fingers when he was done. We were a bit surprised by the prices(they seemed a bit steep to us) but after tasting, definitely thought they were warranted — the quality of the meat was superb. Will we be back? Enthusiastically yes and hopefully soon!

Carnivores unite! The fresh meat is sliced in front of you. It can be on a sandwich or a salad. Either way it is WON-DER-FUL! The salads are great! I order the salad with double meat because I live in CT and have to stock up. The price is normal for a busy shopping area. Bring your water bottle if you need to skimp someplace. The food is worth it! The names of the sandwiches are a history list in themselves. One father was educating his son about each sandwich name because he was a history teacher. I learn from the conversation too. Quite the soap opera lol
