Woodmark Hotel and Still Spa

Beautiful boutique hotel right on the water; outstanding amens ties and service. You can rent a boat or paddle board steps away from the front door and relax on lake Washington. Outstanding property.

The quality, location, and view of this place is spectacular, but how upsetting it will be when you get annoyed and disturbed from the music, noise, and annoyance from the several weddings they host per day. They have a large tent in front of the water view lawn where the music and ceremony is held then the reception gets moved inside. When you talk to the manager he offers another room but doesn’t understand that no room with a view in such small hotel is going to make a noise difference. He states to you that the last wedding is at 6:30pm in which there will not be any more noise since the wedding reception/​dinner is inside. What he fails to tell you is that you will still hear the wedding noise from the reception and get disturbed past your bed time with drunk loud wedding attendees that will be walking around the premises. The reception ended at 11pm along with the noise. Forget the tranquillity of the stay. Now, these two stars are for the marketing decision makers of the hotel. As to the hotel manager (Micah) who handled my complaint, he gets five stars *****. Not because he apologized several times or for trying to accommodate us with a another room far away from the noise, or for not charging us for the room upgrade, but because he genuinely cared for both my family as guests and for the hotel brand that he works for/​represents.

Stayed here with our 7 yr old and the hotel is very beautiful. So serene. Staff were super friendly and informative about our stay and usage of their courtesy car.
The grassy areas were perfect for our dog. Lots of beautiful views — peaceful vacation.
Room was spacious, beds and pillows were super comfy.
Their boat ride was such a great deal and the time spent was splendid. Our daughter absolutely enjoyed herself.
The drawback was it wasn’t near the downtown area.
Perfect hotel to wind down and relax

We are in the middle of a 3 night stay and could not be more impressed. Upon arrival, we were offered a complimentary glass of Château Ste. Michelle Sparkling Wine, an upgraded room and then a bottle of champagne was sent to our room for our anniversary… this was all within the first 30 minutes of our stay.
The manager, Big Daddy, is obviously somebody who cares deeply about each guests experience, and his staff backs him up.
The little touches that the hotel has are very memorable, such as «Raid The Pantry» after the room service closes at 10pm. We had fun with a half a dozen other guests enjoying the complimentary snacks from the pantry closet. Homemade soup, sandwiches, and assorted snacks and drinks were greatly appreciated.
The hotel is beautifully appointed with an incredible view of Lake Washington out of every window.
I would like to write more, however my wife and I need to have brunch before we enjoy some of the services of the in hotel spa!

After long and careful consideration along with consulting with prior guests to all hotel options in the area, my husband and I chose Woodmark as our first weekend getaway from our kids. We’ve long awaited an opportunity to have a rejuvenating vacation and this is also in preparation for our 4^th child’s birth. Because of being quite pregnant, a large jetted tub was something I greatly longed for. I called the hotel’s front desk TWICE to confirm exactly what kind of room I should be looking for (they are all named something different but the website descriptions and photo gallery for each room are identical, guess that should have been red flag #1). Upon being told the Kirkland suite is the room I wanted to book to get a jetted bathtub I called the reservation line TWICE and each time (once to make the reservation and once to double-​triple-​quadruple check that I was getting a suite with a jetted tub) I was assured that the Kirkland Suite I booked would face the courtyard and partial lake view but would also would have a jetted tub and separate glass enclosed shower.
My husband checked in for me as we drove separately from work and home; and I had to await the babysitter’s arrival. Upon check-​in, the two attendants at the front desk spoke amongst themselves about «switching things around» and «good thing you did that because that other room wouldn’t have been ready in time» and other discussions about how guests weren’t arriving in anticipated order.
I came, parked my car, walked into the room and immediately was disappointed. Not only did we face a VERY BUSY intersection where you heard cars loudly through closed windows (NOT a courtyard and partial lake view as I’d been promised), the furniture had SEEN BETTER DAYS! Clearly this was a high buck hotel at one time. You can tell they invested heavily in furniture, throw pillows, etc back when they opened but obviously have just let the place slide since. The carpet was VERY obviously discolored and stained, the sofa and chair in the lounge area of the suite were stained, faded, worn, and had tears in places.
I called to ask if we could be moved to a non-​intersection facing room but it needed to have a jetted tub. I was told by Rebecca in Customer Relations that she’d work on that and call me back.
I went into the bathroom to find not only NO jetted tub but a bathtub smaller than an apartment size. I immediately called back and asked Rebecca if I was standing in a Kirkland suite, she hesitated and said «uhhhh yea». I explained what I was promised TWICE on the reservation line, that the call was supposedly taped so feel free to pull it up, and that was the room I expected. She was unapologetic and rude stating «There are no rooms left with jetted tubs so we can move you to whatever you want but there are no jetted tubs.» I said I reserved a room WITH a jetted tub and that’s what I expected. She said, «I don’t know what you want me to do but as a courtesy I can move you to a lakeview standard room so you can see the lake for no additional charge.». I told her «That’s a lesser room so why would you charge me at all?!». She said, «I will make sure reservations gets updated information about our room selections but that’s all I can offer you — you let me know what you want me to do and call me back». She was curt, rude, and unrelenting.
By now, I’ve wasted 2 hours of my (VERY EXPENSIVE) getaway dealing with this. I immediately called my other option of a hotel in the local area, asked if THEY had jetted tubs, reconfirmed with them 900 times because of this awful experience at the Woodmark and booked. My husband went and «checked out» explaining that their offering of non-​solution and mistreatment of us as guests rendered us losing time for our vacation. He explained how he witnessed them «changing rooms around» and that’s not how you treat guests. The desk attendant was also defensive, argumentative, and rude. I wish I would have gotten their names but I didn’t.
I did, later, get an email from Matthew Robinson who’s email signature states he’s the front desk manager offering a free night stay in a room with a jetted tub. He didn’t ask to hear what happened but just stated that, «It was brought to my attention that your brief stay was unsatisfactory.». Maybe for some this would be enough of a resolution but for me it’s not. I don’t get to «just take a day off and pop down to the Woodmark for a quick overnight». I paid HUNDREDS of dollars to a babysitter, I wasted hours on this matter. Matthew Robinson nor anyone at Woodmark wanted to know what happened, didn’t ask HOW they could improve, WHAT went wrong… how can anyone improve their service if the management doesn’t even know what went awry. It’s clear they just want to sling «a free overnight» at someone hoping that satiates their «we did our best to resolve your issue» when they don’t even KNOW the issue and have no intention of improving service. Why would I want to walk BACK into that?!

I planned a surprise birthday trip for my boyfriend. When we arrived the staff was extremely friendly and the hotel was beautiful. Our room was amazing and the view was perfect! I would absolutely 100% stay there again!

Just finished a great stay at this unique and wonderful hotel. Staff was friendly and helpful. Grounds and views were beautiful. Food was great in the two restaurants. They have a fun and unique service that I’ve never seen before in any other hotel. Late night snack tradition. At 10pm, just about the time you want a bite to eat, they open Woody’s. Woody’s is a closet with every kind of snack you can imagine. Cookies, chips, cereal candy are free for you to pick up and take back to your room. I’ll stay here again when I get the chance. Outside the hotel there’s a beautiful lake and you can rent boats bikes and even have a romantic wedding in the lawn. Don’t miss it.

My Mom and I had a fantastic birthday «staycation» weekend at the Woodmark Hotel and Spa. At check-​in we were greeted with complimentary champagne and water. I let guest services know ahead of time that we were celebrating birthdays. What a lovely surprise to find a bottle of champagne and two cupcakes in our room with a card signed by the staff.
HOTEL. The hotel and room are casually elegant. Soothing colors and patterns. Gorgeous huge windows with sweeping views of Lake Washington. Our room was bright and comfortable. It had a sliding glass door and when we opened it you could hear the waves hit shore (bliss). The amenities were awesome — gotta love Molton Brown soaps, shower gel, lotions, etc. They had an awesome pillow «bar» and you could request different pillows.
After 10 p.m. each evening you can «raid the pantry.» They have water, soda, chips, cookies, soup, etc. Guests are welcome to take what they want. It’s fun and quite a few guests came down in PJs and robes.
SPA. We did a spa day at Still Spa. It wasn’t as posh as similar hotel spas, but it was still wonderful. We had massages, facials, and pedis. All were fabulous. And, of course, campaign and water were offered at each service. The only negatives of the experience were that the massage room was freezing. The table heat was cranked all the way up, but when skin was exposed too long it got uncomfortable. I mentioned it and the practitioner said the room was always cold. The other downside was the extractions during the facial were extremely painful. I do facials all the time and this was brutal. Then press down with a tool EXTREMELY hard. When I said it hurt and was making my eyes tear up, the facialist said «almost done» and kept going. I had her stop and actually had a bruise the next morning. Skip the extractions. Those two things aside, the services were very nice and I was very relaxed afterward.
FOOD. We ate at the Beach Café for breakfast. The food was very good, large portions, and reasonably priced. We had dinner at Bin. Delicious! The server was outstanding and provided excellent wine selections. The salmon was some of the best I’ve had. I’d highly recommend Bin.
All-​in-​all we had a great weekend and I would strongly recommend The Woodmark hotel, Still spa, the Beach Café, and Bin. We’re trying to figure out when we can go back.

The location is spectacular, when there is no fog. Its right on the lake and has a great view. The hotel is currently under renovations on the 3^rd floor and was a bit of a shock to me. The room is nicely appointed, but a bit outdated without a real desk. They use the mini bar/​coffee area as a desk, which is not very comfortable for business travelers. The service at the front desk and valet was fantastic though, as was the room service for breakfast.

My wife and I booked a room here for our 22^nd anniversary. We’ve stayed in hotels all over the world and I must say this property is hands down the most enjoyable stay we’ve ever experienced.
When I mentioned our anniversary they upgraded our room free of charge and upon return from dinner we found a complimentary bottle of champagne and 4 chocolate covered strawberries on the table with a note from the staff that was personally signed by everyone duty that night.
The employees were attentive and probably the nicest group of folks we’ve ever experienced on our travels. These people obviously enjoy their jobs. We especially enjoyed having a casual, but fun conversation with the driver as he took us and retrieved us from dinner.
We had so much fun just hanging out in the beautifully appointed room that we didn’t even take advantage of the numerous other amenities offered by this property.
We will definitely be returning. Anyone looking for a beautiful weekend getaway should definitely look at this property.

Hidden fees. This is *completely* unacceptable for a hotel of this price range.
We are local and booked a nice night (dinner, etc.) for my wife and myself to celebrate her birthday. The Woodmark has good reviews, and the stay was appropriate for the price. Fine.
Checked out and… bam…$ 15 «amenities fee». Uh… what? I asked the front desk what that was and they said, «that’s for additional things around the hotel like the free wifi and the complimentary glass of champagne we gave you when you arrived».
No. Free wifi is free. A complimentary glass of champagne is complimentary. If you’re going to charge me, then tell me that up front. Other hotels charge for their champagne or wifi, thus we can make decisions about where to stay based on actual costs.
And sure, it’s less than 10% of the price of the room. The money isn’t the issue. The complete, total unethical behavior is the issue.
I was upset enough this afternoon I called to try and talk with a manager and got placed on permahold and then hung up on.
Again, it’s a fine place to stay, services appropriate for its medium-​high price point. Spiffy.
But then they add a 10% fee simply for their bottom line. And they do so without asking or telling you up front. This is completely unacceptable behavior. Unethical. Duplicitous and deceitful.
I will never, ever stay there again and I will encourage all my local Seattle are friends to avoid as well.

Let me just start by saying the hotel, property, and staff are all wonderful. The hotel is clean and beautifully decorated with a nautical theme. The staff is welcoming and the property grounds are gorgeous. Running trails and unbeatable views of Lake Washington.
My husband and I live locally in Seattle and wanted to stay on the Eastside for its convenient location to the wine tastings in Woodinville. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary with a special staycation & wine tasting weekend.
However, for the price of the hotel room, this place fell somewhat short of expectations. We upgraded to a king room with a balcony and lake front view. For about $ 400/​night, the view was beautiful but the balcony was teeny tiny. Not even worth our efforts to sit outside. Also, when I booked the room I made sure to mention it was our anniversary. When I called the day of to confirm, they did NOT have it noted that it was our anniversary. The gal who took my call said she would make sure it’s on the reservation. Upon check in, there was nothing mentioned about our anniversary and no note in our hotel room. Is this standard practice in other hotels? You bet. So I was very surprised that there was nothing special for us. Very disappointing when you’re looking forward to celebrating such a big occasion.
Also, the gym is oddly located across the parking garage. The gal who gave us directions to the gym forgot to give us the key that opened up the gym. She was nice enough to walk out and give it to us. She mentioned that there is a gym across the street (we saw afterwards how conveniently located it was!). I wish she would have shared how close it was before we walked across the entire parking structure. Felt like a very odd set up and definitely unglamorous.
Now– onto the good aspects:
— $ 15 resort fee/​day: we took advantage of this by having the car (a large black Tahoe) pick us up and drop us off for dinner both nights. They were responsive and always on time. We wanted to try paddle boarding, but they were already closed due to the weather.
— Raid the pantry: from 10p — 1am you can pick up late night snacks. We had some cereal and Oreo cookies. Felt like a kid again!
Having a car service was great, but it just didn’t make up for the lack of specialty we felt. Maybe I shouldn’t have expected so much for my anniversary, but when you’re paying that much per night, a simple «Happy Anniversary!» would’ve gone a long way with us. Luckily for us, the wineries we visited during our time in Woodinville, gave us some nice congratulations.

I can’t comment about the rooms itself, but our company reserved one of the meeting rooms for a couple of days. Overall, the service was great, and the meeting room had everything that we needed, electronics-​wise, for the meeting. We had catered lunches and breakfast, and the food was really good (loved the cheesy eggs the best). It is hard to beat the views outside as you are right on Lake Washington. Parking it a little pricey at 16 for the day, but if you stay past 9, the parking is free.

OMG. Best service. I recanted my original review. Amazing hotel. Daniel is a rock star. Thank you for making a difficult day, awesome. Most appreciated. Thank you. Part 2. And, thank you again. They really made me feel special. Wow.

My girlfriend got married here. It was a very water front venue. If you park here, the hotel will validate 90 minutes for you. If you park past 9PM, it technically free, because the person who is in charge of collecting money will not be there.
My girlfriend and her husband rented two rooms for changing, outdoor seating, and an indoor dance floor from the hotel as well as catering. I don’t know how much they spent but I was told it’s at least $ 150 per person.
The wedding day was a very nice sunny day. The ceremony was by the water front as well as the dinner. After sunset, they slowly moved the guests into the reception room for the cake and dance. I left around 10. Therefore, I didn’t get charged for parking.

I like to take a moment to thank Amy & the staff for going above & beyond to make my Birthday stay so memorable! We were greeted with complimentary Champagne and right from the start the customer service was top notch!
The king suite with lake view and pillow top bed was spectacular! The jet style spa tub started the night off right! When returning to the room we were greeted with a birthday card & gourmet cupcakes! An overall fantastic experience. The Woodmark is highly recommended!

My boyfriend booked this hotel for one night while we visited Seattle. I used to live in Seattle, so it was my first time to stay at this fancy hotel. The lobby was clean and bright; the view was stunning. Becky the dog was sleepy yet friendly. When we got to the hotel, our room was not ready; however, the staff did work hard to get it ready as quickly as possible (as I was completely exhausted).
Our bedroom had an amazing view of the lake. The bed was massive and comfortable; I loved the huge tub and raindrop shower. They do charge you $ 15 (or so) as a resort fee, which gives you access to bicycles/​kayak, etc. I did not get to take advantage of any of their offerings, but perhaps next time!
They offer valet parking and self-​parking (with in and out privileges) and also drop you off anywhere within a 5-​mile radius, which is pretty convenient if you don’t feel like driving.

This is a truly wonderful hotel and setting. The people at the front desk were very attentive, upbeat and friendly. Service was outstanding. Room service was excellent. Beautiful lakefront/​lakeview rooms. You are 15 minutes to wine tasting at something like 140 tasting rooms. It has the Still Spa on sight which was an awesome combination.
I can’t say enough good things other than great experience. I would highly recommend this place.

I was excited to try this hotel out, after being booked for a stay via a potential employer (Microsoft) and seeing the beautiful photos of the property online. Apparently, they book most of their onsite candidates here which makes for good business. I love that it is on the water, away from the hustle and bustle of the city and (theoretically) sets a good tone for those people in town for important business meetings/​interviews.
It is about a 20 minute drive from the airport. The traffic midday was not bad at all. Upon arrival, I was a bit confused. There is a valet station out front in the courtyard but after idling for 5 minutes without any response, I circled back to look for a lot to self-​park. The closest open lot I found was around the corner which made for about 10 minutes of lugging my heavy bags from the rental car (with a cast on one foot). After looking at my ticket, I saw this was not a lot owned by the hotel and incurred a daily charge. When I checked in, I did not get any of the friendly shpeels I am reading others regularly receive. There was no mention of onsite services, parking, the snack pantry, etc. I do not want to assume the worst, but I cannot help but wonder if I was given a less helpful welcome because I arrived in jeans and a sweatshirt (after a long day of travel) and wasn’t looking quite as fancy as many other guests. Also, my stay was supposed to be 100% billed to the corporate account that booked it. Despite this, the clerk at the front desk still demanded my debit card for any in-​room extras in order to complete the check-​in. I hesitantly gave it to him, knowing that there would be no chance of me charging more than $ 20 in room service to the account. He did not volunteer the fact that they regularly place huge holds on every card. To be exact, they charged over $ 800 as a «hold» on my debit card. This kind of «hold» is ridiculous, particularly without prior warning and on a stay paid for by another entity. My bank could not refuse or reverse the hold since it was a debit card, and I had to get the hotel itself to reverse the charges. This took quite a lot of effort. I had to spend 5 hours playing phone tag with AmEx Travel, Microsoft, my bank and the front desk — when I would have preferred to get some sleep.
As for the room itself, it was nice upon first inspection. The main thing I was happy with is the high-​quality shower head (great for rinsing long hair) and good toiletries. The tub’s safety railing was loose, but otherwise the bathroom was pretty nice. Based on other issues, I would have asked to be moved rooms had I been there for pleasure instead of business.
I was out of the room from 7am-​6pm, and no maid service opted to appear during my 2 night stay. There was a carpet tack exposed in the entry, small spiders tried to overtake the bed and a HUGE flying bug appeared. I never opened the window and maid service did not visit, so I assume the flying bug came in through the air conditioning ducts. I will attach a photo of the bug (the hotel was given photos of all of the above issues). Also, the walls are VERY THIN. I could hear everything in the rooms above me and to both sides, along with pipe noises. This is not ideal for a good night’s sleep. There is also a real lack of good dining options in close proximity. I do not feel the service or quality of room was worth $ 600/​night, but was particularly inconvenienced by the billing error.
After leaving, the hotel did refund the money that was placed as a hold and I was told normally the front desk would warn of such charges and that the corporate account not being billed in entirety was a clerical error. I appreciate that the issue was resolved and am grateful that Microsoft and AmEx Travel were responsive, or I may have ended up in an even harrier predicament. I also received a kind e-​mail from the hotel about a week later, asking if I’d consider another stay to improve my opinion of them. I think that was pretty good customer service, and may consider taking them up on it if I have cause to be back in Kirkland. I do, however, still think it was a bummer that so many small things went wrong on a trip that relied heavily on me being totally focused and relaxed (for a very important 8 hour interview). Oh well. I wish other visitors better luck. I will still give them 3 stars, since I do not think my experience is their standard of service and they did respond once the flag was raised. Should I return for another visit, I will happily update this review to reflect any change in experience.

I’m writing a review primarily from a memory that I hold dear to my heart. My husband and I celebrated our 3 year anniversary here and since then I have yearned to return but as an average upper middle class family now with a toddler this may not be a reality in the near future.
All this to say, Woodmark left a lasting impression on us: the champagne that greeted us as we checked in, the extra friendly staff (despite it being clearly an «upper class» resort), the suite with a shared view of the lake and charming courtyard, the chocolate covered strawberries with personalized welcome note from the staff recognizing our anniversary (I know we ultimately paid for this… but the added service contributed to the welcoming atmosphere), the lovely walking path through a sweet garden/​park and the dock. It all leant itself to a romantic weekend that we will never forget.
I know that we left there with no complaints and feeling welcomed the entire time. Perhaps one of these days we’ll visit again.
