U.S. Bank

Great service to a walk in customer! They didn’t even know if I was a U.S. Bank customer bit helped me out fantastically! Sughey was my teller and she was great!

A good friend needed emergency cash sent to her ASAP so I called around to various local businesses that had the Western Union (WU) service. Since I am disabled and have to take a bus, any extended trip can be very taxing. On top of that the bus service was on holiday routes, meaning fewer bus runs.
So I called the US Bank in Kirkland to confirm that they had WU service. On the phone I got the branch manager who did confirm that they had the service and was very proud that they were one of the few banks that did, I confirmed that they were open on July 3 and he said they were on normal banking hours. Then he engaged me in a sales pitch about his bank branch and how wonderful all their bank services were. I said I was coming in soon to send money by WU.
After my bus trip to the Kirkland Transit Center and walking down to the US Bank, I filled out a WU form and stood in line for the one active cashier who was busy at the time.
There was another teller near the active teller but she never really showed any interest in helping me. After 5 minutes or so, I heard the customer at the one active teller window discussing what it sounded like a commercial store transaction which can be very involved.
The two desk employees behind me we on their computers and ignored me too.
Finally one of the desk employees came and made contact with me and saw my WU form and asked if that is what I needed, I said yes, He asked if I had an account at their bank and I said no. He said I am sorry but in order to send WU you have to have an account with US Bank.
I was stunned and momentarily speechless.
I said I had just called and talked to you and you never mentioned that requirement. He said he did not talk to me. I said I talked to the branch manager. He said that was not him and pointed to the other desk bound employee. I approached the branch manager and said why didn’t you mention that requirement on the phone? He said he forgot. I said you were too busy putting the sales pitch on me to bother with that detail.
It felt like bait and switch.
Then the branch manager had the gall to ask if I wanted to open an account. I said after the way I have been treated, there is no way!
I stormed out of the bank and will never return. My parting words were that I would report them to the BBB! I left off Unilocal :}
You gain customers by having good customer service and the word gets around, which is why the branch manager was so desperate to pitch me and leave off their caveat:
No US Bank account, no Western Union money transfer.
Safeway was happy to take my business BTW.

It would appear that after a positive relationship with US Bank that spans 10 years, four cities and two states, my money is no good in the Kirkland branch. Duly noted; I’ll be moving my personal and business banking elsewhere. Thanks for the help, all the other US Banks, and I hate to do it, but I live in snob town now.

This branch is amazing! They are SO FRIENDLY every single time anyone walks in they acknowledge you! Olga is particularly awesome, friendly, customer-​service rocks, helpful, kind.

This bank branch is awesome! I come here all the time to do my banking versus any other location. The staff is almost overly friendly. One person, if not everyone says hi to you when you walk in. They always make conversation with you and they make sure you are truly happy when you leave.
Most recently, I needed to make a deposit in the ATM which was broken because their new one was going to be put in later that week. I showed up 5 minutes after they closed on a saturday. I just needed to make a deposit and I started to walk away when the nice branch manager opened the door and said that they can still do a deposit for me. So they brought me in and took care of me. I mentioned I was selling my car and looking to get a new one and so they said to come back and talk to them about a loan rate after I figure out what the dealer approves me for.
Sure enough I came back to get a quote for a loan and see which was the best deal. The guy helping me I think is the branch manager, gave me honest feedback back, their rate was .25% higher and he assured me that the best dealer was through the dealership. I really appreciated his honesty in the matter and not trying to hard sell me on one of their services.
I really can’t say enough good things about this bank!
