My dog recently had a bilateral elbow arthroscopy with Dr. Misseghers. On the day of her surgery she had complications with the anesthesia and he was a good enough doctor to stop the procedure, call me and admit her respond was very strange and that the surgery was cancelled until he figured out what happened. Within an hour he had gotten ahold of an expert and called me back to let me know it was a freak occurence and that she was good to try again in a week. I really appreciated is honesty and his ability to admit when he hadn’t seen something before. We scheduled her again a week later and under the same anesthesia she had zero issues so it really was just a freak occurence. He did an amazing job on her surgery and even gave me the pieces of bone her removed from her arms. After her surgery she fell (my fault) and has had a long recovery because of it. He has been so patient and kind with us and hasn’t judged me for my overbearing amount of phone calls. The surgery site itself healed amazingly and quickly, her scars are barely there. When she fell she injured her ankles and eventhough it isn’t where he operated

The service I’ve received from the entire staff over a 2 year period has been great — Our dog Weezie has had bladder stones twice and Dr. Engen has done the surgery, and been extra helpful in trying to solve the problem as to why the stones keep occuring. Other vets have prescribed foods that actually made the problem worse and suggested we put Weezie down — he is only 5 years old, very active and happy and Dr. Engen and his staff have tried their best to give us solutions. I highly recommend this practice and Dr. Engen if your pet needs surgery!

I took my dog for a Pennhip exam several years ago to Puget Sound Animal Hospital. The thing that makes Pennhip different from OFA is that the results are mandatory once you have the exam. They go straight from the vet to Pennhip. When I came to pick up my dog the receptionist, a rude, surly, know it all, gave me my x-​rays and told me to mail them in myself. I explained to her the situation and she told me I was wrong. When I tried to insist she turned to her co-​worker, who vaguely agreed with her. She would not let me see the doctor, or leave him a message. The other thing that makes Pennhip unique is that the doctor is supposed to confer with you about the results. I never was able to speak with a doctor there. I was treated worse than you’d expect to be treated at a fast food place. Never, ever going back there.

Dr. Engen has done 2 TPLO’s on 2 different dogs and both have turned out great. One of the dogs had had a major break of her leg about 5 years prior and he had to remove several pieces of hardware before he could perform the knee surgery. He is the best knee vet in the area and I would recommend him to anybody!

My experience with Dr. Engen was two years ago now, but recently looked him up for a follow up question and wanted to pass on my experience. My dog had two TPLO surgeries done, 3 months apart, just after she turned a year old. Everyone here, from front office, to techs, to Dr. Engen, is great. After our first surgery, I called multiple times, concerned that Bella wasn’t healing right. The staff always took the time to talk through what was going on and even let me bring Bella back in (no charge) to have the doctor take a quick look. They gave me all the information I needed for a successful recovery. Two years and two new knees later, Bella is one of the most active dogs I know. Besides some scarring (due to her licking and our lack of willpower to make her wear the cone), you’d never know she’d had the surgeries. I highly recommend this practice.
