What a pleasant experience! Went in and had an exam today. Pretty basic stuff really but, the service was terrific and really friendly. Happy to have my eye doctor in the neighborhood and I can’t wait for my new glasses!

Michael is a really nice optometrist. Funny and relate-​able. He’s been in Kirkland for 25 years. Best experience I’ve had at an optometrist. The peripheral vision game was fun and I had a retinal image with a blue light flash that was pretty trippy. In the future it would be good to check the copay of my insurance company as they only covered 20% of the bill and it ended up in the hundreds.
Knocking a star off because the receptionist did not check my copay until I was already in my exam, meaning that I would have to pay regardless.
The facilities are pretty old although there is some charm to this, but if I had a choice I’d prefer somewhere newer. Not a big deal as the quality of service matters more than the appearance, in my opinion.
Overall this is an optometrist for affluent people who don’t want to waste their time feeling «average» by going to a chain optometrist location. I felt a little taken advantage of afterward by the high price as the services were nice but not so nice to justify a 400% margin from your average optometrist. I unknowingly did not do my research on the price first and expected all optometrists to be about the same. The other person that gave this place a five-​star must be more set up, financially, than me, and thus to them it’s normal to spend more. The nice downtown location is a warning that this place is expensive. In the future I would research your insurance’s copay and also call the practice first and make them give you a final cost estimate with the copay included.

I’ve been going to Dr. G years now. He provides a no frills but thorough exam. Anytime I’ve had any problems, he returns my calls personally and in a reasonable amount of time. He takes the time to listen to you and gives all around great service. He has two offices — one in Kirkland and one in Renton.
