Had a good experience when they came out to inspect our chimneys and install rain caps. Turned out our chimneys were clean and didn’t need sweeping. The guy was friendly, helpful and pointed things out as needed. Prices were competitive too.

ECC came out today to inspect and clean out chimney. The representative was very professional, kind, efficient and informative. Setting up the appointment was easy and the office staff friendly. They gave me a window of arrival time and called the day before for a reminder.
A few hours before the arrival time, the office called and expressed that the representative was running late and gave me a new window of time (about 30 mins later). She was very apologetic and concerned that the extra time would be an inconvenience. My schedule was open, so I wasn’t worried but appreciated the concern for customer service.
The representative came out and mirrored the same concern about being late and discounted the fee! I get that things sometimes don’t go as planned and applaud their excellent customer service. The rep was also very informative and had great tips and information that, being a new homeowner, I didn’t know before.
Great job ECC. They are a great choice and I hope to use them in the future.

I have had ECC come out to two of my homes and do different kinds of work — one was a gas insert and one was a full chimney tear down and rebuild. Both experiences were nothing short of outstanding, both with the front office and with the construction crews. They even helped us figure out some complex issues with our gas insert, and were on time, professional, and courteous in every interaction we had.
Highly recommend!!!

My chimney had to be replaced. They tore it down, carted it off and replaced it with a new one that was up to code. They always arrived on time and worked steadily. They cleaned up their work area and acted professionally. I look at my new chimney and almost dance. Did I mention that the price was reasonable as well

Called to make an appointment to have someone look at our chimney and give an estimate. Had a date set for 2 days later between 10:00 and 1:00. The person never showed up or called me. When I called the receptionist, she put me on hold, came back and said, «Hmmm…that’s really strange.» No other explanation. I told her I won’t be rescheduling and she said, «Okay, thank you.» Those are the plain, simple facts. I’d seriously go elsewhere.

Honest, reliable, and not pushy. They came out, inspected my chimney, said it did not need cleaning and left without charging me a service fee. Highly recommend these guys!

Very disappointed, bad experience with this company. Have had chimney cleaned many times with other companies, never a problem. Made appointment with this company three weeks ago. Explained on phone that fireplace is a wood burner, a Fireplace Extrordinaire, gave model number. Company assured me cleaning would be no problem. Upon arrival, the employee looked at the fireplace, said he was unsure exactly how it worked. I provided operating and installation instructions. He said he’d clean it, but I would need to sign a liability waiver absolving company of responsibility in case of a chimney fire. Obviously that’s unacceptable. I called company manager, he offered no resolution. Found another provider on Angie’s List that will guarantee services and be here in days to sweep the fireplace. I’d steer clear of Emerald City, check Angie’s List instead.

Bruce at ECC was really good. He cleaned our chimney and quoted us for chimney caps. I called 4 other companies to get prices on the same caps and ECC was by far the best prices. He was very efficient. I would use ECC again and request Bruce. Our chimneys are in great shape now!

Emerald City Chimney and its staff are second to none. They installed our new custom fireplace insert (and liner) in 2012 with zero debris or dirt or messy cleanup necessary; it works like a charm and totally keeps our home clean. When it came time for our annual inspection, they were timely, confirmed our appointment a day in advance, showed up and it’s like brand new. They even cleared out the blowers of some debris. My wife and I couldn’t be more pleased with Emerald City and their technicians for quick & professional service, quality equipment and excellent pricing. And seriously — thanks for your help with the insert more than we can possibly say — you’ve cut our power bills in half with the installation of such an awesome piece of comfort, the blowers keep our entire downstairs nice and warm.

Let’s see, where to start:
I called and was able to get an appointment on the day/​time of my choosing within a week. Someone called the day before to remind me (good thing because I’d forgotten…)
My appointment was for between 2 and 4pm. The guy showed up at 1:58! Super nice, very knowledgeable. The problem was that my fireplace opening was too big so smoke was billowing out before the chimney had time to draw it up. Well, chimney guy said yeah, I could get a $ 400 lining or whatever, OR we could just try and attach something in front of the opening to keep the smoke in until the chimney was able to draw. I did just that, and it works fine, saved me $ 400! I really appreciate that he was willing to think outside the box and help me find the solution that worked for me, not just what would pay the most money.

Ridiculously disorganized and rude on top of it.
Had appointment set for 3 weeks. The day of got a call from Wayne (person who was supposed to show up) leaving a voice mail that he didn’t know he was supposed to come and he just learned of this appointment. They called me 3 days prior to confirm…
On top of it while talking to Tracy in their office she was blaming me for not calling back soon enough… Unbelievable!
In addition, they had me down for incorrect thing even though one of their guys was at our place once already…
Unprofessional, rude, and simply unacceptable business practices. Would discourage anyone doing business with these folks based on my experience.

3 years ago, we had Emerald City Chimney come out to replace a leaking chimney chase cover as the previous one was leaking. In less than a year, the new one started leaking.
When I examined it, it was clearly built poorly as it forced water to collect on the place where Emerald had sloppily caulked the connection. It doesn’t take a chimney scientist to know that that will not last. Luckily it was within their 1 year ‘warranty’, so a guy came out and pretty much just slathered more caulk on it.
Sure enough it soon started leaking again. Being out of warranty, I applied a temporary fix that lasted approximately 18 months, ie longer than the so called professionals.
I don’t expect these things to last forever, but being unable to build a piece of metal that can last a year?

Emerald City Chimney rebuilt an entire fireplace and chimney, removed an old, unused chimney, and replaced a third chimney for a second fireplace. From the beginning through completion of the project, our experience was excellent. Their bid was competitive. Their masonry work was excellent. From project estimation and bid, through the project work, communicating with the building inspector, providing beautiful brick and concrete work, insuring full compliance with codes and specifications, and finally completing the project with quality clean-​up, their crews and office team were entirely professional. We are well pleased with the finished workmanship. They were not only professional and economical, but it was a pleasure working with the company. We highly recommend Emerald City Chimney.

Stay as far away from this company as humanly possible. They give outrageously high bids (more than double) compared to other companies, and cannot come up with a comprehensible explanation or breakdown of their bid. They are assuming that some people will just hire them based on a few good reviews, rather then getting some comparative bids. Well, I wasn’t born yesterday, and when I got a couple of other bids from other companies, they were all about half the price, for the exact same work! When I asked them why they charge so much more, the office manager got defensive and even had the nerve to give me an attitude! Needless to say, I will not be using this company, as I feel they are not trustworthy and do not value their customers.

I had a bad experience overall. It does not make sense to extend the chimney first and then inspect it second. It makes more sense to thoroughly inspect the chimney for any breeches in the liner first then choose a route that bests suits the customer and her safety. If I had been told by Emerald Chimney there was a breech in the liner then I would have never burned logs. This could have been a potential liability — I could have caused a fire! I would not recommend Emerald Chimney.

I had my insert fireplace cleaned and was very happy this company. I was able to get an appointment the day after i called and Bruce showed up on time (there was an hour window).
I don’t know what exactly the cleaners do up there or how they do it and it’s not like I can just look at the work but I will believe the work was done well.
When it was time to pay, Bruce informed me the cost would be lower than what I was quoted due to the fact that my insert is a liner type and as he didn’t have to pull the thing out so it would be a little less.
He left the place clean and I was very happy with the job.
I would use them again to clean my chimney.

Called up and Jill answered the phone. I asked for a spark arrester for our chimney. They sent someone out to see the dimensions of our chimney since they installed an after market damper that sits on the top of the chimney. They saw the chimney when I was away and then custom ordered it. About one week later that received it… total cost of about $ 250 installed and they did the install just before the snow storm so we could enjoy seasoned fire wood in the fireplace. Our chimney is really tall, but no problem they had a really long ladder and people that were not scared of heights. The install took about 10 minutes total. The whole process was pretty simple.

I am a real estate agent in the greater Seattle area and these guys were quick, honest and fair about pricing. I needed a new firebox and chimney repair and their service was impeccable! I’m calling them today for another job!

These guys rock. I don’t know much about chimneys –kinda like when a mechanic tells you your car is broken… But these guys are prompt, honest, come the same week you call and I will use them again

If that doesnt say it all, I dont know what does. Emerald city did a top job on my cheroo. Fast friendly service, thorough check & inspection, and honest advice. Give em a try next time Mary Poppins aint around.
And also, I give them props for a suh-​weet website! I mean, any site where their homepage says «Click on the large emerald to enter!» — deserves props…
