A Unique Dry Carpet Service

Summary: Decent cleaning but beware of the price hike at the end.
Pros: Pretty prompt and quick on getting things done
Cons: Over charging, especially at the end after getting the work done.
Details: I had a living social deal for 2 to 3 rooms and upto 600 square feet. I mentioned that during scheduling and got an appointment. When the guys showed up they looked at the apartment and did a quick clean in an hr and while leaving when i handed the voucher they told me that this was for a smaller place and that i need to be upgraded to the bigger one and made me pay and extra $ 65.
My apartment is a 2 bed and living room apartment. And there are beds dressers in both the rooms and a table in one and crib in other. Plus have two large couches and china cabinet. All of these reduce the carpeted area. That being said I have had other cleaners clean my apartment and have been charged for less than 600 sq ft.
They claimed that i have a hall way which is 2 ft of distance between my living room and bedroom. Also they claimed that i have dining room which does not exist as it is part of the living area.
I also got two areal rugs cleaned and when they were putting me on a higher voucher i asked if they can include the rugs as my carpet area is lesser than the voucher and also the number of areas (based on their counting was lesser). They said no.
If they had informed me of all this earlier i would have not even called them and would have stuck with my earlier cleaners who are better than them.

Don’t hire these guys! They doubled the price for pre-​treating my carpet (without telling me they were doing so). It was cleaned a year ago so wasn’t all that dirty and the cleaner a year ago did not charge extra for pre-​treating. Even with the extra pre-​treating these guys did not get stains out. The service I used last year did and didn’t charge extra for the pre-​treating and the carpet felt nice and soft when they were done. The dry cleaning did not, and they left a bunch of the dry stuff behind that I had to vacuum up. They were also 2 hrs late. Won’t hire them again. With stains left behind, I feel like calling the other guys and having it done again.

They scam you to get more money. All the standard carpet cleaning includes pre-​treatment, that’s the thing that loosen the soil which is required to clean the carpet. In the estimate they didn’t tell pretreatment is extra. Then did it without asking or telling me its extra cost. When everything was done, they just charged me extra.

I absolutely love these guys! I have used them a dozen times for my business and I couldn’t ask for a better company. The carpets always come out clean. I really appreciate their service– always on time and friendly.

I had a great experience with these guys today; very efficient, helpful and leaving my carpet so clean snd nice! I was surprised about the extra charge for the stairs, but their manager solved the situation very professionally, and left me as a happy customer — that warmly recommend them to everyone else!

I originally thought that this place did a good job cleaning my carpets of my old apartment. However their professionalism is inadequate. After they cleaned my carpet, I needed a statement or a receipt showing what they did to prove to my apartment complex that I had my area cleaned prior to me moving out. I called and text almost every day (for two weeks) to their main number with no response back. I even saw the ‘read’ response with my text message on the iPhone and they still never responded back. I just needed a receipt or invoice or something stating what they did to show to my apartment complex so I would not have to pay for an additional cleaning. They were super unprofessional in the way that they would not contact me in any form so they can help me out and instead costed me an additional $ 200 to move out of my complex for a carpet cleaning. I’m super upset about this and super mad that this company could not help out person with a simple receipt. They might clean carpets well but they do it on a super unprofessional and irresponsible. I would not recommend them to anyone. THEY CANNOT BE TRUSTED!

Unique Dry Carpets cleaned my carpet today and did a fantastic job. I have 3 kids so spills happen, dirt gets tracked in and even a play-​dough incident occurred! The Unique Dry Carpet team got all the stains out and my carpet look clean, fresh and new. They were also dry right away and they used this compostable substance that takes allergens out of the carpet… just an added benefit you don’t see other carpet cleaning companies using. I definitely recommend them and will use their service again next time! Thank you!

I had no idea such a thing existed or I would have done some research. Corn husk ground into my carpet? Gross, my kids are both sick and my eyes are burning, I just paid $ 350 dollars on top of my $ 70 groupon voucher to have my carpets contaminated with an allergen. I vacuumed about a cup of corn powder from just a small 10 foot square area. How is that clean? I don’t know how I’m going to get this stuff out of my carpet. What a nightmare. Not to mention the extra charges were exorbitant. I understand charging a little extra for stairs but 200 for pretreating? Come on my carpet was not that dirty.
Oh and everyone complains about them being late, I had the reverse problem the showed up at 6:40am! I have small children, what a rude wake up call.

Had my carpets cleaned today using a Groupon I’d purchased. Very interesting process they have. Carpets sure look nice and clean tonight. And totally dry! They even cleaned much more than the 1200 sq feet the Groupon was for.
Only negative thought I have is that the scheduled appt time is not concise. For someone at home anyway, it’s fine. But for someone who’s not at home, you might have to be ready to get home quickly. My scheduled time was 2:00pm, I received a message in the morning saying they were running ahead of schedule 1.5 — 2 hours, so I did have to rush home to meet them. Just keep that in mind when scheduling your appointment.
Other than that, the staff was very nice, explained the process and were quick and thorough. I will be anxious to see how the carpets look in a few days.

Terrible! I bought a groupon and was super excited to schedule my appointment, and all of that went great! Our appointment was scheduled for 1pm, and I had to work in the morning and was planning on being home at the scheduled appointment time. I started getting calls the day of my appointment while I was at work, that I could not answer because I am a server at a restaurant, and well… Come to find out that they were running ahead of schedule and apparently that means that even if they don’t get a hold of you they will just NOT KEEP THEIR APPT WITH YOU!!! This is unacceptable to me!!!
I had moved all of my furniture out of the way, and been expecting to get my carpet cleaned for over a month!!! HOW CAN YOU JUST RUIN THAT IN 1 HOUR JUST BECAUSE YOU DON’T GET A HOLD OF ME ON THE PHONE??? AND THEY DIDN’T EVEN LEAVE A MESSAGE!!!
Sooooooo not happy. Just make sure if you do use their services to leave your whole day open just in case they need to change your appointment time on a whim.

I would give –5 stars if I could! Purchased the discounted coupon from the Groupon.
My appointment was at 4pm, but got a call at 1:30pm saying their job got caught short, they will be here at 3pm.
I called to confirm and yes, little annoyed with such short notice, I left a message because the phone number listed is 3^rd party who delivers the message, so you don’t get to talk to the real company unless they call back. I asked if I should be there by 3pm just in case and the messenger said «I’ll have them confirm to make sure.»
I decided to be there since I was not at my condo.
20 min later, I got another message saying they will be there between 2:30 — 2:45pm.
What the… was my exact expression.
I called and again, left a message.
I didn’t get any call back and they showed up at 2:45pm. If I didn’t have flexibility at work, I couldn’t have made it with their ridiculous short notices of changing customer’s appointment!
Guess what? One person was smoking before getting into the condo. How professional! Took the photo and video of the person smoking. Bravo, you guys are truly «Unique» for sure.
Seriously, they are using sand dust to clean the carpet. If you are reading this before purchasing, please, please, please do not use them. It is not worth a penny, if you ask me!

Our experience with this business was really great. We bought a deal on LivingSocial and feel like we got good value out of it.
Booking was fairly easy and we received email confirmation and reminders. The guys showed up about 15 min early for an afternoon appt. They were professional, courteous, and thorough.
We don’t have very expensive carpet and it’s light in color so it was showing a lot of staining and dirt. Nothing too bad, just the kind of stuff you get from having people, including kids, coming and going every day for a year in the wet NW. When these guys were done, everything looked clean again.
Having worked a couple summers for a carpet cleaning outfit, I had some idea what to expect and how to prepare. If you prepare well, you’ll be more likely to have a good experience too.
Here’s what I recommend:
(1) Move all the lighter-​weight things you can out of the way and off of the floors before they arrive.
(2) Don’t expect the guys to move your furniture and make it as easy as possible for them to get under and around it. If you absolutely need them to get under something, move it out of the way before they get there.
(3) Expect to pay more for stairs, heavy stains, or pet odor. This is especially true if you’re starting with a discount or a prepaid package.
These companies make money based on the number and size of jobs they can fit into a day. You should expect just the basics if you paid $ 75 or whatever via Groupon (which means they received less than that). Ultimately, it pays to treat them nicely and do your best to make it easy for them to get done and get on their way.
Lastly, while I can’t say too much about the differences between their corn-​based process and traditional steam cleaning, I can say that it appears to have worked well for us and I do like the idea of something that has less impact on the environment.

I was really impressed. We have 6 pets so we get our carpets cleaned often, and this company is my favorite.
They were punctual, courteous, and thorough. Our carpets have never looked so nice after a cleaning.
My only gripe is that this style of cleaning leaves saw dust-​like particles around the home. But brooming and a quick vacuum will fix that

I won’t ever use anyone else! I’m completely satisfied with the service I received yesterday. Our carpet looks brand new, they removed ALL pet damaged caused by our house-​training puppy, they were punctual, courteous and they left several free products. They explained how their product works and did an amazing job.
We have a 2000 sq. ft. house and they charged us $ 70. AMAZZZZING! :)

SERIOUS AWESOME! I have three filthy dogs and this service, unlike many others, absorbed and removed the nasty from our carpets and carpeted stairs all in about an hour.
They were ON TIME, ENVIRONMENTALLY-​MINDED, QUICK, METHODICAL, and POLITE.
I will use this service again and again, even without a livingsocial voucher, though I LOVE a good deal. Keep an eye out for their livingsocial deals as I used the cheaper of the two options ($ 75 for 1200sqft) and it was PERFECT for our house. Stairs are extra, but still a great bargain compared to the competition.

After an unsuccessful attempt to clean the carpet myself. I decided to hire professionals to do the service. I’m so happy by my choice. I hired the company: Unique Dry Carpet Service there is my carpet looks NEW. I should have taken before and after photos to show the result. Anyway I highly recommend the company. They are super professional, fast and GREEN. Their method does not use any aggressive chemical which makes it perfect for places with allergy sufferers, kids and pets.

The day after getting my carpets cleaned as I was leaving for work I noticed one of my dogs was squinting at me and could not open his eyes. I had to rush him to the vet who said he was in fact having an allergic reaction. She asked what had changed and I said nothing except I had just had the carpets cleaned. She said that was most likely the cause. He couldn’t open his eyes for several days despite numerous times of vacuuming and leaving the windows open. Each time we would vacuum, more corn meal would come up. A week later, a dozen vacuumings, and $ 450 poorer, he is finally back to normal.
Mild stains that were present before are still there although not as noticeable. These guys don’t move ANY furniture, didn’t even slide the coffee table over to get under it, just went around it. Left corn meal on the legs of my pool table and other furniture as well.
If you have pets that are susceptible to allergies, DO NOT USE THIS METHOD!!!

QUICK REVIEW: Absolute worst experience with a «professional» business. Had to ask them to leave my house — after they showed up 1.5hrs late — and wanted to charge me $ 75 on top of the Living Social voucher I already paid. Employees were extremely rude and the owner, Jeff, treated me extremely unprofessionally and blamed me for not understanding how his business works. JUST STAY AWAY!
FULL SUMMARY: Purchased a Living Social deal and waited two weeks for them to come over. They said they would be there at 10am — didn’t show up until 11:30. I called at 10:30am and asked where they were and Jeff told me they were like the cable company and show up somewhere in a 2hr window. I told him I was not aware of this and had other appointments throughout the day, so I couldn’t wait forever. He said I had hearing problems and didn’t listen well.
When the carpet cleaners came over, they said my carpets were in terrible condition and they couldn’t do anything unless I paid $ 75 for pre-​treatment. I mentioned that Living Social said pre-​treatment was only for pet odors and I don’t own pets. They said that didn’t matter and they wouldn’t work on my carpets unless I paid the $ 75. I said that was unacceptable as I just had carpet cleaners to my house less than 10 months ago and they did a great job with no extra fees. They said because I was using a voucher that I was already getting a deal and shouldn’t complain about an extra $ 75 as it would normally cost $ 500 to do my house (I live in a 1500sq ft condo).
I asked them to leave as now I felt ripped off with a bait and switch scam. They said they were better off not doing my house anyways. I called Jeff immediately to complain and let him know of my experience and he went on and on about how great his technicians are and what they say goes.
This company is a SCAM and my next report will be to the BBB.

What a rip-​off!!! Although I have been a Unilocal user (voyeur) for years, this business was so bad that it made me create an account to warn off others! I purchase a deal through Living Social rather than going to Unilocal first (a big mistake!). They showed up and immediately doubled the price by saying «your carpet needs pre-​cleaning.» Seeing as how I was having a party the next day and had already paid for the service, I had no choice but to agree. Then they were there for less than 15 minutes leaving me a carpet not much cleaner than before. And when I wrote a comment about the service on their Facebook page, they commented «If you let your pets use your carpet like you use your toilet, don’t blame us.» Well, these must be imaginary pets!
Last year, I used Unilocal to find D.A. Burns, who did a fantastic job for a cheaper price. I should have stuck with what works instead of looking for a deal that turned out just to be a tremendous waste of my money and time. The only thing «unique» about Unique Carpet Service is just how truly bad a company can be and remain in business.
