Cute place to meet up for lunch, their cranberry bread on their sandwiches tastes SO good, I could just eat that and be happy. Great menu and friendly staff

I’ve read mixed reviews on the dining experience here, but I have to say mine was so delightful! My server was sweet as pie the food was absolutely amazing and the bill was very reasonable. I’ve come before for takeout but I’ll definitely be back again for the dining experience!

Such a cute hidden gem. The coffee was fantastic and the food was even better, we’ll have to return for the baked goods. We were so full from lunch! I got a house salad that had perfectly sweet candied pecans on it! Heaven! My boyfriend had a reuben that was massive! We will defiantly be back. So glad we found this place. The prices are on point for the quality and defiantly worth it!

Closed until the beginning of the year but we picked up a really yummy cream cheese and turkey sandwich on cranberry bread that was delicious. The kale salad was great too. So glad their doors were open for holiday pick-ups.

Love the food and the environment. Prices are reasonable and I love the local art for sale on the walls.

Went to this fantastic café for the first time this weekend. I loved the atmosphere, the service and the vegetarian lunch. I bought a fresh loaf of bread to take home for a family member because it was too good for him not to try. I will definitely be back ASAP.

The highlight of Something Special is their baked goods. They change everyday and always exceed expectations. They can range from cupcakes to cheesecakes to pies to creampuffs to basically anything else you can think of. What whimsical idea the baker has that day, you’ll be sure to enjoy. They also have options for pastry platters which combine an assortment of their goodies to take to the office or family get together. They are always extremely accommodating and have always fulfilled my orders in a timely fashion. I have never tried their main café menu but I have tried their specials a handful of times. Each time I’ve been extremely satisfied. Specials are usually updated on their Facebook page on Monday, but they’re not super consistent about updating. My only(small) disappointment is that they do not have WiFi for customers.

Came in on Tuesday and ordered Roasted Pear Salad and it was beyond amazing!!! Came with baby spinach, glazed almonds, dried cherries, bleu cheese and an incredible ginger white balsamic vinaigrette. I asked where they get their ingredients from because I wanted to make it at home, that’s how good it was. Also came with their in-house bread which was very sweet and delicious as well. I’ll be visiting this place more often now that I found this hidden gem in Kingston.

Heard good things about this place, so I thought I’d give it a try. Had soup, sandwich and a baked good with coffee. The soup was the best of all. It was very creamy and flavorful. The soup came with bread. Just as another reviewer mentioned, I too thought the bread was stale or dry. The sandwich bread was also lackluster and very dry. The biscotti followed the same dry, stale suit. I’m guessing all is baked with some sort of low quality flour, perhaps even stale flour. Very disappointed with their baking. Coffee was just a run of the mill brew — Nothing Special.

I love to support local spots, and I am always looking for new lunch options. Something Special was high on my list of bookmarks because of pretty solid Unilocal reviews. I had the pork bbq with the green onion pickle. It was an interesting sandwich — the sweet bbq and the tangy onion went well together, but it wasn’t something I’d get again. What really kind of surprised me was the bun… I was expecting a really fluffy kaiser roll or something of the like, and it was just a standard bun with a stale kind of texture. Not sure if it WAS stale, but it wasn’t the type of bread I would expect from a place that bakes their own items. It was crumbly and just didn’t taste fresh. I took my lunch home and ate the contents of the sandwich without it. I would consider coming back if a friend wanted to meet up here, but it’s not a place I would rush to return to.

Something Special is a small spot for lunch and breakfast. They offer a daily special. LOVE the creamy pasta salad side! The service is excellent and the turn around time on your order is reasonable. The menu is somewhat on the smaller side, which I prefer, and it changes often. Still haven’t made it for a Saturday breakfast special, but really hope to! Homemade bakery items daily. All of the sandwiches are served on their own bread. You can even buy a loaf before you head out the door.

This is a little lunch(or breakfast) place in Kingston. They’ve got great soups, sandwiches, and salads, as well as a ton of bakery items(breads, cookies, pies, etc) and weekly specials. I’ve never been disappointed, honestly. My favorites are the Nicole sandwich(turkey, Swiss, romaine, apples, and cranberry mayo on cranberry walnut bread, though I suggest it on a house made croissant) and the always delightful quiche Lorraine. They also have a breakfast special every Saturday that looks delicious… I’ve yet to try it, though, as I can never wake up early enough. If you’re looking for a cute café or lunch place in the area, consider making Something Special your regular haunt.
