First time and had an amazing experience. Portions were huge, staff were great and helpful, food was out of this world and the price was great. I would recommend to all!

First of all, this is a full Puertorrican restaurant, not Mexican/Puertorrican. I have been living in the United States for 14 years and finally found a good Puertorrican restaurant that makes me want to go back. My wife and I can cook so we are a little hesitant when it comes to go out to eat Puertorrican food and the few times we have tried it, we ended up disappointed. Hierba Fresca nailed it. From the home made passion fruit juice, to the amazing bread pudding, everything was spectacular. To start we had the yuca frita and the jenga — rullos. Then the mofongo with Carne frita and the plantain sandwich. For dessert we had bread pudding, tembleque, and the quesitos. EVERYTHINGWETRIEDWASGOOD. The service was great and the prices fair. I read previous reviews and it looks like they really listened to their customers. Did I mentioned that it was a group of 8 people and everyone was very satisfied with Hierba Fresca. Please don’t change anything from your menu. We are coming back.

We were excited to give this place a try but the service was terrible. We showed up and never got served. There was no one up front when we walked in. There was no «wait to be seated» sign, so we got menus and sat ourselves. It was about 10 minutes before we saw a server who walked straight by us. Someone came in after us and had her order taken. We waited another 10 minutes before the same server came back out. It wasn’t until we stood up to walk out that we were tended to. Tried to be patient but that was too disappointing.

AMAZING!!! Everything I ate was to die for, from my chicken tostone appetizer to my mofongo pernil with yellow rice dinner plate. This place is the real deal, not the greatest looking place inside and out but the food will NOT disappoint. If you’re looking for some authentic Puerto Rican food this is the place to go.

This place serves Puerto Rican food, not Mexican like Unilocal says. Having never had Puerto Rican food before, I really enjoyed this place. The fish was good, but someone at another table had a beans and rice dish that I was coveting. I hoped to go back and try some of their other dishes, but the two times I tried to go for dinner, they were closed. I took a star off for that, because the sign on the door had clear hours posted and I tried to go twice during posted hours when they were closed. There was no sign or explanation. So, I do recommend this place, if you can catch them when they’re open. You might have better luck during lunch hours. They seem to draw a small group of Ft. Hood soldiers for lunch on a regular basis.

I will give one star for staff and friendliness. The food though was the greasiest, oily, nastiest food I’ve ever tasted. So much oil you can’t even taste the seasoning or flavor. I used napkins to get the grease off of the tostanes con pollo. I’m not sure if it’s been Americanized or not but unfortunately I have never tasted Hispanic food that was worse than this. Even the plantains were bad., smh! We are new to the area and only went here bc the restaurant Texarican is closed on Mondays. Texarican is by far waaaaay better. Sorry to the restaurant though friendly I feel bad but have to be honest. I’ll never go again.

I’ve been here a few times now, and I’ve been pleased with my food every time. I’ve tried the chicken nacho tostone appetizer, roasted pork, and fried red snapper, all of which were great! I definitely recommend the tostones as a side or the mashed cassava. My friend is Puerto Rican and usually cooks her own dishes, but she spoke well of this place too!

George & Omaris were superb hosts and the food was made by the chef to appeal to my friend’s gluten allergy. He made 3 dishes for us, two of which were tostadas on green plantains, and we felt like we were welcome guests in his kitchen — exactly how I think a great small restaurant should make you feel! Bravo!

The service and atmosphere were laid back and excellent, and the food is what you would expect of delicious Puerto Rican and Caribbean. I ordered a coffee and the waitress looked a little surprised, maybe people don’t order coffee here often. What I got was a Cuban style espresso grind called Café Bustello and it was incredible. Our waitress,(O’Mari) was very nice and did a good job. The food was full of flavor, and enjoyable. Definitely coming back!

One of the best Spanish restaurant in Killeen. You have to search or know by word of mouth about this place. It’s hidden in the downtown Killeen area. I searched and found it by a friend of mine that lives in Austin. I live in Killeen and never had a idea that this awesome place existed. Beats the other local Spanish by far. Don’t believe me? Go visit them and be ready to enjoy the presentation and the food!

My family and I came in to celebrate my birthday. I’m from Puerto Rico and I wanted to eat true Puertorrican food. We drove 1 hour from home to get there but it was all worth it. The food was excellent, the service was excellent, the whole experience was great. The chef stopped by to say hi and the chef and staff sang happy birthday for me, the chef played happy birthday in the trumpet, and they made me feel at home. We will definitely come back. We give it 100 stars. One hundred percent recommend it!

Overall a delicious experience — =] mango flan yummy– just order everything lol

¡Que rico! Found this place while driving down 2nd St. and decided to stop and try it. Everything was very well seasoned and freshly prepared. I recommend the Yuca Frita, Churrasco and arroz Amarillo. Delicious comida Críolla!

The most awesome gourmet style Puerto Rican food in and around Killeen area in a really clean Restaurant. Me and all my co workers love it. The chef comes out and checks on everyone personally can’t get better service anywhere else. The mango Flan is to die for. Sign the wall while you are there.
