I have been going to this bagel shop for almost 14 yrs now. Their bagels are very good. The biggest issue is the employees they are not professional, they make mistakes constantly. If u order cream cheese they give u a huge lump or a small spread of cream cheese. If u order butter and jelly they skimp on the jelly, or make the mistake of giving u cream cheese and jelly. Always check your order before you leave. Another issue are the prices they are a bit high, no idea why bagels and sandwiches are so expensive. Maybe its high rent location, I just feel its overpriced for queens. The last thing to mention is the coffee, it always tastes burnt. Maybe they should invest in a better coffee machine or really clean it better. Im so dissatisfied with their customer service. If it wasnt for how good the bagels are made I would not be so loyal. Cant find better bagels then these is queens. Please get better employees that can take care of customers and listen and take care of the loyal customers as well as new customers that support your business. Thank you.

I love that place, all bagels are great and everybody that works there are super nice I go there with my little one she loves there bagels and since the line is usually really, really long they would just pass the plain one for my baby without having us wait in line which is very thoughtful

The best bagels I’ve ever had. It’s usually pretty busy but the staff moves things along quickly.

This is how NYC does bagels .way to represent Baker’s Dozen! If a variety of fresh, warm, bagels is not enough to entice you let me tell you what else they do well… sandwiches, service, cream cheese. I’d put any Manhattan location head to head with the quality here and my money would be on Baker’s Dozen. Wonderful gem of a place tucked into my neighborhood. Yes, you may proceed with the jealousy now.

You can ignore all the other reviews. Here is all you need to know: FRESH, HOT, CHEWYBAGLESMADEONPREMISES! As native New Yorker, I have been very disappointed by the bagel options in the Forest Hills area. I finally found Bakers Dozen and my life is complete. No other bagel joint can come close to the freshness. This is what a real bagel should taste like people. For those of you who complained about the«service» — this is a bagel joint. Not a restaurant. Who cares if no one said«good morning» to you?! The service is exactly what you should expect at a place like this. Also this is New York City. You gotta pay attention to when it’s your turn, speak up, get your bagels and go. I have included pics of my poppy bagel with veggie cream cheese so you can see the«just-made-an-hour-ago» freshness. Pro tip– you know your bagel is fresh and quality because it does not need to be toasted to taste amazing.

I have been here in the past and the service is usually good, however today I felt slighted. There were two White female customers in front of me who very much attended to and given time to. When it came to my turn, I had to wait even though the workers were free and I didn’t feel that I was treated in the same manner. I ended up leaving without ordering anything. The worker informed me the kitchen was closed and that he couldn’t do anything. He didn’t offer me anything else or make the effort to make a sale. Disappointed at the differential treatment. I used to always recommend this place. No longer the case. — Latina customer

Not being able to see activity behind the counter in a take out food establishment is very unsettling, especially when all preparation is not occurring in the kitchen and all orders are being prepared in the front. I can’t recall what was blocking my line of site, papers, bread… well, just plain clutter, even the writing on the walls was messing with my eye site, Good thing I could see the floor clearly, i guess that counts for something. I order a plain bagel with cream cheese, but when it was given to me, at first Glance i wondered if i ordered cream cheese and grape jelly mistakenly. Both sides of The wax paper and bagel had very noticeable drippings of grape jelly. You would have to think that i was ordereding some type of jelly, cream cheese combo. How disappointing! My companion ordered a bacon, egg and cheese on a roll. As per his description: The Bacon was like chewing on kindle, the roll tasted old, the eggs were scrambled & over cooked, dry and spongy. Clearly speaks to microwave prep, not sure but that’s my perception, add two medium coffees to that and the cost was $ 12. Bakers Dozen has the best of both worlds, bad breakfast food at the highest prices. And the counter help was throwing slang around very loosely and unprofessionally. NY has the best bagels in the world, galaxy, maybe even the solar system. I’m hard pressed to find a single shread of evidence that shows me an upside to this place… and i was trying to find that upside, that happy medium, that silver lining…

The service was terrible here! We waited for 10 minutes before someone acknowledged our presence(my partner and I). And there was no line just two people who had already ordered. They workers served them, billed them and send them on their way before acknowledging us. I find they treat white people with more urgency and care, as though they are more important than people of color. When it was time to order they told us the kitchen was closed. Right before that they served a white lady breakfast and then told us the kitchen is closed! Sorry I will not be supporting this business anymore. The workers needs better training in customer service. And know that all people are equal!!!

I’ve seen this place so many times and there is always people inside. So I decide to give it a try one morning for breakfast. BESTCHOICEEVER. The staff is pretty friendly they always double check your order & not to mention there BLT with(turkey bacon) is amazing and the only thing there kind of pricey I paid almost $ 7 bucks for a BLT and no drinks, but I’ll definitely be coming back

Best damn bagels in Queens! Period! Great friendly and quick service no matter how long the line is sometimes . Very clean place. They have decent amount of seating but mostly a takeout place. Only problem? Hard to find parking in that busy street. But. worth it.

WORSTPLACE. Ordered the lox and cream cheese bagel and not only did we get over charged but they barely put any lox or cream cheese in the bagel. Feel like we got robbed.

This is my boyfriend’s favorite bagel shop in NYC. Everything is good and fresh, you can’t go wrong here! Get the lox with cream cheese, red onion and tomato on any bagel of your choice! My boyfriend prefers pumpernickel and I like sesame. But like I said, you can’t go wrong! Their sandwiches are awesome too! On a bagel of course :)

Coming from the West Coast, I never really cared much for bagels. I think mentally, I always thought, «Hey, round piece of bread with a hole in it means donut! Yum!» Was kinda always disappointed biting into a bagel. Then I moved to NYC… Bagel joints everywhere you turn! I’ve tried quite a few and I can definitely taste the difference. And I admit, my affection for this other«holey bread» has grown. But for me, Baker’s Dozen is the best I’ve tried! The bagels have a nice crust on the outside and a pleasant chewiness on the inside. I particularly love the sesame and pumpernickel. The selection of spreads is great… with the exception of the tuna salad. For some reason, it’s always a miss… too dry. But have a go with the lox! Your tongue will thank you. They have other baked goods but i havent tried them except for one… the Pistachio muffins!!! So yum! I keep meaning to try something else everytime I’m there, but the Pistachio keeps calling me! There’s almost always a long line here, but it goes quickly enough with the help of their efficient and super friendly staff. They have a good amount of tables, it’s relatively clean(apparently bagels are messy eats — clean up after yourselves people!), and a good atmosphere. If you’re in Kew Gardens, pay them a visit! Oh, the LIRR is like a block away too!

The bagels are good they have tons of cream cheese spreads, sandwiches, soups and breakfast and lunch items. I come here once in a blue on weekends when I am really in the mood for a bagel. They are a little pricey though. But that’s to be expected in Kew gardens.

Nice, friendly service and a local joint. Bagels are consistently great, however to my taste, a bit too chewy. But that’s ok. They have mini bagels and flat bagels as well to change it up once in awhile. There is some decent seating, during the day, it appears that the geriatric crowd is dominant and many other who work/live in the area get their food to go.

After reading many of the 5-star rave-reviews I knew this place was going to be the best-of-the-best, but it’s not. I’ve been a multiple-location Queens resident for going on 41 years and this place wouldn’t make my top 10 list. Not for bagels/toppings anyway. The customer service; however, is outstanding! I’ll give ‘em that. Just so you know, I don’t base my review of this place after 1 visit. I went to Baker’s Dozen 3 times because after the first lame experience I figured it was just an off day for them tuna fish salad and whole wheat everything bagel-wise so I came back, but I figured maybe antifreeze fell into the lox spread so I came back for a third and final try to find that this place just isn’t as good as people think it is. They just don’t know any better. Baker’s Dozen Bagels is the ONLY option around here. They have nothing to compare it to. The bagels are all dough and no crunch. I like a little consistency change in my bagel. A little more dense on the outside and a nice chew on the inside. These bagels are all chew. Hey, to each their own, right? You want a bagel that’ll make your knees weak? Try Bagel Oasis in Fresh Meadows or Bagel Shoppe in Oakland Gardens. Thanks and have a nice day.

Definately the largest seating capacity of any bagel spot within a ten mile radius. The bagels are fair in taste, but slightly overpriced. The service is relatively friendly but competent, all other items lack flavor and creativity. The coffee is relatively enjoyable, kinda needs a bit more of a kick. All the salads are made with too much mayonnaise, a sign of a business trying to maximize profits. The grilled chicken is quite bland, un-seasoned, in-exciting, just UNeverything. Nothing special here that piques my interest at all, just items existing in the world of Boars Head booring.

Basic bagels. Since Baker’s Dozen is located out of Manhattan proper, I figured the prices would be a tad bit lower. Unfortunately, they weren’t. A whole wheat everything bagel ran me about $ 4. It was average.
