There’s nothing wrong with this hotel, it’s just old and in need of an upgrade. The website definitely oversells it but it did the trick for us, we stayed one night after a long hike at Sam’s Point and VerKeerderkill Falls. Staff was friendly and accommodating and check out is 12pm, which is really nice, especially after a night of drinking. I noticed in previous reviews that there was no card system but there was when we went, so it looks like they upgraded something. Our room had a king sized bed with a couch and a nice sized bathroom. We had a lovely view of the Shawangunks. There were 4 or 5 events going on the weekend we stayed including a couple of conferences and a wedding, so the place was busy. The hotel bar stayed open late to accommodate people from the events and the lobby has a bunch of couches and tables. I saw a lot of people hanging out playing board games, which was nice. We didn’t use any spa services or tennis courts or even amenities like the free continental breakfast, so I can’t comment on any of those things. No frills, not fancy, and old, but it served its purpose for us.

After viewing a few hotels near High Falls, NY, I chose this one cause it looked nice in the photos & seemed to be a decent place. I arrived at the hotel last night with my fiancé & was horrified. Firstly, the hotel had a strange smell when we walked in. As we walked to our room we heard the overly dramatic & loud screams of a woman in «ecstasy». That was a lovely start to a strange night at this hotel. The room smelt musty, the carpet has gashes in it, the wall paper was peeling, the a/c had exposed insulation around it & the comforter looked like it had been shipped over from the 1970s. I had planned on showering when we arrived… I stepped into the bathroom only to [crystal] clearly hear drunken people next door loudly slurring at one another. I was pretty grossed out & horrified at this point. I attempted to go to sleep only to be woken up by a loud knocking sound that was coming out of the air conditioner. The only good thing about this hotel was the staff, who were kind & friendly. Having booked two nights at the hotel, we made the decision to leave a day earlier. Since we were out before 11 we were able to get our money back for the second day we would not be staying for.

Remember that smell when you walked into your grandparents house as a child? That musty scent we could only attribute to mothballs? I think. I’ve never actually smelled a mothball individually but it seems to be the odor most popular when describing Nanny & Grandpa’s abodes. Then you’re in for a treat. This place has it emanating through its entire existence. Even when you step outside, the weeping willows give off a faint smell. The lobby resembles the sales floor of Bob’s Discount Furniture, scattered living room setups which I can only imagine are for when Tom Jones comes to town or better yet, Antiques Roadshow. The rooms are adorned with a lovely array of 1980’s style steakhouse wood, green leather chairs, ornery lamps and yes, even a maroon carpet to tie it all together. My favorite was the bedspread, black and gold… an obvious nod to Georgia Tech or the New Orleans Saints. If you’re not a planner like I am and wait till the afternoon of to book a hotel in upstate New York on Labor Day weekend, then this is the place! Three stars from this chap as over-gaudiness can lead to cool points, especially for those millennial hipsters in Williamsburg. This place is so un-cool it should be filled to the brim with fedoras, skinny jeans and conquistador mustaches looking to make it their homes permanently.

This place is in bankruptcy and on the verge of closing– goggle it. It’s a Dump, mold infested, circulated throughout the air conditioning system. Filthy, should be closed down by the department of health. Came home with a respiratory infection. Owners are milking this decrepid place and apparently«invest» nickels and dimes to keep this place standing. Dinner was ok. I didn’t even sleep there– spent 6 hours there for an event. Will never go back. Was there in July, 2015. Others in my group with less sensitivity to mold and dust were less distressed.

Stayed here for an event. The event itself was great. Left the hotel with a bacterial infection.

Came here for Rock N Roll Resort so I wasn’t too disappointed because I spent most of my time drinking heavily and seeing music. However, If you plan to come here just for a weekend getaway; don’t. This place is so horrible you can’t help but laugh. The elevator hardly works, you have to push the down button in order to go up. The place reeks of mold and the wallpaper is peeling and the ceilings have so much water damage they look like they may fall down at any time. The toilet clogged after one small-moderate sized shit, so we had to pee in the shower for the rest of our stay. I slept in the bed which seemed clean enough but the next day was covered in an itchy rash all over my back, whether that was caused by the bed or not, I don’t know, but seems likely. Two stars for the amazing view of the mountains.

I read the reviews before going so I was expecting the worst, and that’s basically what I received. The hotel lobby looked like it hadn’t been refurnished since the 1970s, and it is also the only place you will get wifi. As I walked to my room the halls were dark and depressing. My room was dark, had dead bugs and holes/stains on the wall, and made me outright uncomfortable to be in. As I continued looking, I discovered that the TV had about ten channels and that my bathroom light would take ten seconds to turn on — very spooky. Additionally, the gift shop is overpriced — $ 1.50 for cup noodles. Overall, the entire time I wanted to leave I would not recommend this place to anyone.

If there was any way I could give this negative stars I would. Gut wrenchingly filthy, upon checking in there were bugs covering my window sill! The staff is rude with a few special exceptions, but none of them are anywhere near a horrible as the owner/manager I encountered here who screamed at the top of his lungs when the front doors were pepped open for people to load in through. The food is equally as bad as the cleaning. And they have the nerve to actually leave am envelope in your room for you to too your cleaning lady. I’d have no problem if she could have ya know cleaned SOMETHING. They should just take a wrecking ball to this place. It is a waste of space.

Absurdly awful experience staying here. The rooms? Filthy, with stains on the carpet and towels. Wallpaper? Peeling off. The room, felt like I was in the middle of a haunted house. People, DONOTSTAYHERE. I wish I had read help before I went.

I typically don’t write reviews but I have to with this place. This place was creepy and just not a place you should ever stay. The whole place is outdated from the lobby that looks like a 70s nursing home to the elevator — I wasn’t even sure if it worked since the buttons looked like old typewriter keys. Once we got to our floor it got worse. Our room had a ripped comforter — there was no way I would ever feel ok sleeping in those sheets. The wallpaper was peeling and the refrigerator wasn’t plugged in — who knows the last time it was used. The adjoining door to the room next door didn’t even have a lock on it — we moved the desk in front of it. The fire extinguisher hadn’t been inspected in 2 years! We ultimately left — totally felt like it was either haunted or we would get some strange disease.

Correct it is a dump, however going in I was aware of this. The old Granit Hotel I kept waiting for the ghosts of the old time performers of the 70’s to show up! Breakfast on Sunday not bad but Monday it was moved to a corner of the 1st floor. No internet except on mail lobby floor. I wouldn’t go back but it was an experience I’ll remember. If you stay, try an get on the 8th flor in possible. The room was not bad with good view.

I stayed here in 2013. The doors in one wing all had different methods of locking(if you were lucky enough to get a door that locked.) Either a physical key or a electronic slide card. I would say the room was tidy(not clean.) I was in a double bed room. I really had to crank the A/C up to get it to work. The TV was very old as well as the furniture. The carpets through out the hotel looked like they were never cleaned. They had stains all over. Some of the large rooms we were in were dusty(Theater-like room and night club-like room.) The food was very bland and disappointing.

Save yourself and stay somewhere else! My mother, sister and I stayed here this past weekend as part of my 30th bday celebration and it was a HUGE let down. Unfortunately we didn’t look at reviews beforehand and boy were we sorry. The hotel is COMPLETELY run-down. It was like a strange time warp. Nothing has been updated since the 70s and because of that items are breaking(e.g., terrible beds and sheets, leaking ceiling in gym, missing light bulbs, wood paneling, AC wall units. list goes on and on). We arrived late Saturday night, right in the middle of a Polka convention, 2 weddings and Bat Mitzvah. They put us in the room right above the bat mitzvah and it sounded as if we were on the dance floor. After trying to sleep on the cement slabs they call beds, we couldn’t stand the noise anymore(@ 12:25am) and asked for a room change. They told us 2x that there was nothing they could do for us, then finally after the 3rd attempt(and going down to the front desk) they put us in the wedding suite in the«luxury tower». Whomever named it the luxury tower must be blind or on drugs, because it was just as rundown as the rest of the resort. The room they moved us into was a suite, but only had a king size bed, so I was forced to sleep on the couch. I should mention that this«luxury» room comes with a jacuzzi in the bedroom and 2 sofas, one was an old lazy boy couch(which seemed so out of place, we were thinking an employee must have donated it). We got massages which were ok — not bad, but not great. The masseuse was very sweet, but there was NO staff so we started my appointment 30 minutes after it was scheduled(because she had to set everything up herself). The locker room was again, SUPER outdated. You need locks for the lockers, so you have to bring your stuff into the service room with you. The steam room is broken and the water pressure is terrible. We did spend some time at the pool which was clean and quiet — again outdated. It was a little difficult to relax over the Polka music that was STILL going on. Overall, this place was run down and creepy. It was like being at the shinning. They said the place was sold out, but I don’t know where these people came from cause it was terrible and I would never go back or send my worst enemy. Go somewhere else.

We come here for a conference each year. It’s been sad to watch the deterioration of even the tower rooms over the last several years. Clearly the owners of this place just don’t care. Food service is hostile to vegans. For that matter, unless you like excessive amounts of garlic in all your food, you might want to avoid the dining services. The place does a poor job of accommodating those with allergies and sensitivities. The bed was so bad this year, I slept on the floor. That’s right, a thin carpet over concrete was more comfortable than the bed. If we come back to this conference, we will stay elsewhere and save a fortune by not having to buy the meal plan(and we had to go out and buy meals elsewhere anyway, so that expense wouldn’t change). Walk the halls late at night. You”ll swear you’re in a set from The Shining. As others noted, the one star is only because you can’t assign zero. This place warrants negative stars. Stay away. Stay far away.

This place was hip in the 70’s… Still looks like it. Old, mold infested, run down, musty smelling dive. Unless it free do not stay there! And even then, think about it!!! Will never return!

Have you seen the Shinning? Well you kinda feel like your in that movie when staying here. The rooms are rough and a little trashy. The hallways creeped me out and some doors looked like they were kicked in and scratched up. Who knows what’s happened. Also you feel like your the only one staying there as you look at the hotel from the side and one out of a hundred rooms has a light on. Here’s the options of what you think the place would be with out seeing the sign: 1. Insane Asylum 2. Old retired hospital 3. Haunted building 5. Time slip into 1974 and some rooms 1981. We ate at the View. Overlooking a old courtyard with a fair amount of busted up hotel in sight. Here are my suggestions to the waiter(I used to wait tables): 1. When you come to ask for some one’s order bring your notebook. 2. On your way over to take an order don’t answer your cell phone and turn around and walk away to take your call. 3. Make sure to know what drinks you offer. 4. Make sure to clear finished plates before the guest leave. 5. Make sure to have the bill and item’s price listed before you bring a total price you wrote down. It was a weird and trippy experience at this hotel and not going to lie, but I was a bit queazy from thick smell of old carpet and mold after checking out. Good luck Have you seen the Shinning? this place looks and feels like an old abandoned hospital or something. it’s falling apart, poorly maintained, and pretty creepy. I would not recommend anybody to stay here unless you get pumped on old nasty walls and carpet, questionable levels of clean, and employees with little job training. the positives during our stay were the fact that there was hardly anyone there, which meant no lines for anything… but that is also a con because the place might be haunted and no one will hear you scream. my experience is only with the«resort» though. I didn’t play mini golf or get a massage or anything so I can’t comment on those aspects.

Attended an event this past weekend at the Hudson Valley Resort & Spa. Luckily I was expecting rundown so I was not caught by surprise by the accommodations. I didn’t personally interact with many of the resort staff so I can not comment on their customer service. Our room was in the non-renovated wing, was large with two double beds, a desk, and a small table and chairs. It also had a dresser, armoire with TV and a walk in closet. I really wish we had a mini-fridge since there was plenty of room for it and the food choices were sub par. I really detest Pepsi establishments, I can’t help it. Pepsi just gives me a stomach ache and if I don’t have at least 1 Coca-Cola a day I get a headache. Also the only 2 vending machines I saw were out of order, so even if I wanted a Pepsi it would have been the ordeal of going to the restaurant. The pickings very slim to none for vegetarians, as much as I love fruit salad and carrot sticks there need to be more options. We went to one of the catered meals, which was disappointing. Even the those who eat most things found the pairing of chili and chicken parm strange. It would have been great if there was some bread or pasta to go with the dishes. I also think they need to cater to their crowd a little better, obviously a jam band festival is going to have a lot of vegetarians(3 out of 6 in our group).
