The quality of their work AND their people are amazing. They originally did our countertops in 2011 and when our kitchen was damaged in a flood, they removed their beautiful work for us and stored it until we were able to finish renovating. They’re artists and good people and they went the extra mile for us. We’re so happy to have our countertops back again. It looks great. –Lana

Barra & Trumbore did my countertops in a new building back in 2011. I chose them because they were local and they were willing to take the time to educate me on how far my dollar would go with different finishes, and the pros and cons of each. In the end they were able to give me exactly what I wanted for considerably less than a soup-to-nuts company over near Kingston. The work has held up great, looks as good now as the day it went in.

I had some work done 2 years ago by this company. The work they did was very unacceptable. Their measurements were off by more than a half an inch in several places on both the counter tops and the island. Before any of the fabrication took place I had asked if it was possible to increase the opening around the sink by about an eighth of an inch. I was told that this wouldn’t be a problem. When I later(after the work was done) pointed out that the lips on both counter tops were a half an inch wider at one end than they were than on the other they blamed their mistakes on my request to change the opening around the sink by an eighth of an inch. The same mistakes were made on the island. When I asked to speak to the owner about what could be done about the mistakes made just in the area around the sink, I was told that he would be over to look at the situation. I asked that no changes be made without speaking to me first. The owner came over and made changes without calling me. My contractor found him to be menacing. I finally got a chance to speak to the owner Mr Barra. His solution for my dissatisfaction with the job was to come over and pull out all the counter tops. How this was going to be done without destroying my cabinets was anyones guess. This was after I had spent months going around searching for the right granite. I attempted to have a reasonable conversation with Mr Barra, but he isn’t equipped to have one. Trying to talk to him was frankly scary and very unsettling. He is incapable of admitting that he is wrong even after significant mistakes were pointed out. I would strongly recommend dealing with another company. If these guys don’t do the job correctly, I would strongly caution against confronting them about it unless you are prepared for a really unpleasant experience. I thought it was important to let other customers know that this is a company that is quite capable of completely botching a job and if they do they will refuse to take responsibility for it. There motto should be the customer is always wrong. I should also mention that there were poorly done seams behind the sink and that the granite on top of the island had some quarter inch gouges in it. This is a piece of granite they talked me into buying rather the piece I had found because they had it in their yard.
