Great deli adjacent to the tasting room and you can take food outside to tables to eat in their cute courtyard. We arrived late in the afternoon and didn’t have time for a full taste, but the glass of wine I had was deep, bold and wonderful! Very friendly and helpful staff make you feel like you are at home!

Here, you’re paying for ambience. I love mortadella and provolone sandwiches. I bought one at VJB. I got one(1) slice of mortadella and one(1) slice of provolone on a very fresh roll. I didn’t even think to ask if they embellish upon the sandwich(i.e., lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo, etc.) and they didn’t offer. Next time I crave a mortadella and provolone sandwich, I’ll hightail it to San Francisco, namely North Beach, and buy one at Molinari, an old-school Italian deli on Columbus Ave.

Cool tasting room with a patio. The wines are more Italian varietals which I was not as familiar with, but eager to drink! The patio is a great spot to have some delicious wood fired pizza and Italian wines. We ended up joining the wine club.

Perhaps I came on a bad day but the impression that was left was really not that great. Maybe it was because it was raining and they put everyone in their storage barn, or the fact that we paid for a flight of wine and food and had to get it ourselves and we’re still expected to pay a tip. The food was not all that great with the exception of the cheese plate and I personally like having someone explain the various wines when we have a flight even if it’s one short sentence. Oh well…

What didn’t I love about this place??? The ambiance is gorgeous! Beautiful open and inviting patio. Amazing deli and wood-fired pizza and a chocolate shop too! The prosecco was the best I’ve ever had… wish I had purchased more than 4 bottles. We will definitely recommend to our friends and be returning too! Amazing staff too!

Completely unexpected experience. We stopped by to simply get a small bite and ended up joining the wine club. The food is fresh(avocado and shrimp salad is incredible), the courtyard is relaxing and the wines are delicious. We’re big fans of the Italian varietals and with every wine we tasted we knew this would be our go to for wines in the future. With that said, Kristen our hostess introduced us to their Prosecco, WOW. We joined the wine club and are are looking forward to future visits and club events.

This for me was a surprise! It’s like a little village within the town of Kenwood along Highway 12. It is very reminiscent of something found in Italy. I want to go back and try the wine. The food is good. The pizza and the chocolate are yummy. The service is outstanding and the hospitality is warm and welcoming. There is plenty of parking and the complex is wheelchair accessible. The aroma of the firewood baked pizza fills the piazza and the deli has a wide array of items for visitors to purchase to with wine. It is also a good place to have meetings, meet with clients or host parties. So as I said I definitely want to go back.

We love this place! Charming Italian village plaza with deli, wine tasting, fabulous pizzas, sandwiches, ribs, more. Cozy picnic tables near heaters in the barrel room are perfect for rainy days when the piazza is not warm and sunny. Best service imaginable – after only four visits we feel like family and are treated royally. We have friends who lived in Italy for years and they love this place too; they say both the wines and food beautifully authentic. We look forward to regular visits for years to come!

We came to this place as a recommendation from a family friend who lives in the area. We were looking for a place that was kid friendly(we had 2 in our group) to eat lunch at. My first impression was how friendly the staff were! Each staff came up to us and greeted us. I have never experienced the level of customer service that was presented here. We were here on a rainy day, which meant there was no crowd. I ordered the Caprese panini and my partner a chicken panini. Both were delicious! Our group also ordered a meat lovers pizza which they called«the best pizza they’ve ever tasted.» We enjoyed a few bottles of wine during lunch, both were fairly tasty. I was very impressed with this place. Will definitely be back to experience more on a clear day!

I visited VJB yesterday with a large group — we made a group reservation a few weeks in advance — and we had such a great time! We were hosted in the Barrel Room with a pre-set table just for our group and truly enjoyed all of the wine(I purchased an extra glass of the Sagrantino, it was that good!), snacking on the delicious food from the café(salmon and brie panini, yum) and enjoying each other’s company. Kristen, thank you for being our lovely wine-guide for the afternoon, and for actually enjoying our rowdy bunch singing :-) Highly recommend a visit to VJB for the wine, the food, the atmosphere and the staff.

Family run with attention to detail. The Italian deli is superb. Eat in the courtyard and you’ll think you’re in Tuscany. Wine taste with the friendly, knowledgeable staff. Great selection of small production wines.

We visited VJB for the first time because they have acquired our favorite brand, Wellington. My husband and I were cautiously optimistic based off of what we had heard from others, and we weren’t disappointed. We recently came back from a trip to Italy, so we were very interested in their Italian style winemaking. These wines were made very true to the Italian style, and they make an impressive variety that will have something sure to please everyone. The property itself is gorgeous, with Italian style buildings and landscaping. There is a deli and a pizzeria available with tables and umbrellas set up in the middle courtyard for a great lunch spot. A glass of wine and a porchetta sandwich later, and my husband and I joined the wine club.

This is a great place for break. They have a nice selection of wines, a very refreshing Prosecco, a small deli area, and a comfortable patio where you can enjoy a wood-fired pizza and sip wine. Life is good.

A perfect ending to a morning spent at the Jack London Museum. We were ready for a delightful lunch. We are visiting Sonoma with family so they had their empty bottle of wine only to be filled with the wine of the day. You can tell the natives to the area because they come in the empty bottle. I believe the wine might be discounted then. 4 of us sharing this wonderful bottle along with an arugula salad with feta and pistachios. Yummy. Also a margarita pizza and OMG these incredible delicious honey ribs marinated for hours. I believe you can have catered parties here as well. A little bit of heaven in this restaurant/vineyards.

They do the Sonoma Valley Wine passport(which I highly recommend through groupon or living social). I’ve been here a lot, and always impressed by the people who work there and their wines. Prosecco — soooo good!

This is a great place to hang out. Love the Prosecco! Pizza was awesome. Felt a little like cattle being herded at times only because it was so busy. Knocked a star off for me as did the parking. Had to wait for a table. Maybe go on a weekday? I met the owner Vittorio, great guy! They close pretty early too so don’t wait too long in the day to go.

What a great spot in the Sonoma area! This spot was only about five miles from our hotel, we figured it would be a good stop for our first day when we wanted to stay low key. Especially since they served lunch! The courtyard is beautiful and the perfect place to relax with a bottle of wine. We got there a bit before closing and they suggested we have lunch before we head on over to taste the wine. The deli section was super impressive and they had a delicious case of salads. I’m not talking lettuce salads, I’m talking pasta, veggies, and cheese varieties. We ended up going with two flat breads and some salads. Once you order they give you a ticket to bring to the pizza chef across the courtyard. He then freshly whips up your pizza. You can see from my photo the pizza’s were fresh and delicious. They had no sauce which at first threw me off but really they were so tasty they didn’t need it. After lunch we were off to the wine tasting. I wish I remember the name of the girl who ran ours because she was so friendly and nice. She even let us taste the Prosecco which isn’t on their standard tasting menu. We ended up walking out with a bottle of their Chardonnay which I believe was all stainless steel barrel aged. It was the perfect Summer wine. Even though we were there past closing time they never rushed us or acted annoyed that we were still there. This is a must stop for lunch and some wine if you are in the Kenwood area and looking for something delicious and not too heavy to eat.

An awesome place to have relatively inexpensive and delicious food as well as awesome wine. My wife and I were traveling without our kids, but the eating patio was filled with couples, groups, families, etc. The pizzas are freshly prepared to order and taste great. We were having a light lunch, but the menu has a great variety of light and more filling dishes such as ribs, which looked appetizing as a server delivered some to a neighboring table. We didn’t have a reservation but the tasting room was ready for walk-ups and provided a great tasting and educational experience; the Sangiovese was our favorite. The tasting was $ 10/each and they weren’t pushy with joining the club/buying cases, which was nice.

Depressing animal abuse ruins a potentially great lunch destination. Wish I could give it 5 stars, but they have birds in pitifully sad conditions. Doves and chickens who’s cage is depressingly small. The thought of spending one day in there makes my skin crawl and looking into their eyes is heartbreaking. Knowing they are there for the entertainment of customers is so wrong. Food: the wood oven pizza is pretty good, great olives, fun chocolate /gelato shop with delicious caramel sea salt chocolates. Very fun to sit in courtyard that feels like you are in Italy, especially when the Opera singers are there. Wish there were more yummy healthy Vegan /plant based options. As much as I enjoyed the food and atmosphere at VJB, the situation of the animals is depressing and makes me loose my appetite. Animals are not ours to use for entertainment. It is a terrible excuse for keeping animals in such poor conditions. Children should be taught that animals are beings to be respected, not confined for our amusement. Birds are not meant to dance to tunes. They are meant to fly free and be a part of the ecosystem.
