Closed up shop… :( Thanks Scott & Katie, you’ll be missed. Great food, impromptu opera, all the best wines. Any thoughts about posting recipes or catering on the side?

Rumor has it The Grape Adventure is closing at 2013 year end. If true that’s too bad as this is an excellent, unpretentious wine bistro with good food and spectacular staff. A must-visit before 01-01-2014.

I travel quite a bit for business but I always try to make it in when I am home. Just went last week. Started with the pulled pork nachos. Great portion size and great flavor. Then went on to the 12 oz steak with a nice blu cheese sauce and root veggies with mushrooms. Finished off with pumpkin whoopies! Loved them! Great good, fun atmosphere and the service is always fantastic. Scott, Katie and staff go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need! Favorite place in Kent :)

After finding The Grape Adventure on the Gravy app.; I went there. The food is absolutely excellent. Scott is knowledgeable and interesting To talk to regarding wine. Prices are decent and the wine is excellent. I enjoyed the atmosphere of being surrounded by the racks of wine too. Thanks for a great lunch and wine tasting.

I am so glad that this place exists. It is really a great, personal wine shop with a great restaurant inside. The food is fantastic and Scott and Katie are very approachable about wines and cater to your tastes. If you plan to come here often, consider joining the wine club. There really is no catch. You get FREE tastings once a week, and the fee is two bottles of wine, picked for your preferences once a month, always under 30 dollars. With the membership, they also allow you to pick out wines while you eat and drink them at the bar with no corkage fee, and take the rest home. Totally worth it! As many people have stated, they will turn you away on busy nights if the have several reservations, but that has never bothered us. I think it is nice to know that if I do ever make a reservation, we can rest assured knowing we won’t have to wait for a table, which is excellent treatment of loyal customers in my opinion.

Best wine shop in Kent! It’s the only place I even go to buy wine anymore! And fantastic little restaurant too! The cheesy bread is addictive!

I really enjoy every visit to the Grape Adventure. The food is always good, though there are a couple of favorites that it’s hard to reach out from. But my favorite part is the tasting menu. The flights of wine are such a great way to try new flavors that it’s rare I leave without purchasing a bottle or two of what I’ve tasted. Scott and Katie really know their wines, and can suggest things that are similar to what you already enjoy you’d never find elsewhere. In fact, I love this place so much that I’ve signed up for their wine club.

Grape Adventure is a wine store with a café-type restaurant in the center. The wine shop is extensive for its size and carries local and international varieties that will piqué your interest. The restaurant catered well to our small group(7 persons), and we enjoyed the entertaining repartee with the owner who appeared to be the sole server. Service is generally not quick, so my advice is to order an appetizer or individual cheese plate($ 2.99) and a glass of wine as soon as you get there, and enjoy conversation with your fellow diners while the evening unfolds. The night we were there, a 60’s vintage troubadour was entertaining the guests, and I thought for a moment that our conversations might be difficult, but the volume was just right and the entertainment added to our delightful evening. The food was in what I call«polite proportions,» meaning large enough to eat the entire meal at one sitting and be satisfied, but not large enough that you won’t squint a bit at the prices. Our table had the chicken piccata(excellent), several burgers(delicious — no ketchup required!), and pasta(very good). When the desserts were served(chocolate cake and crème brulee), I realized I should have just ordered the desserts for dinner because they were off-the-chart good… the best desserts I’ve been served in the Kent/Renton area. The restaurant was full all night(Thursday), and the entire meal took 2 ½ hours, but our group was happy and very satisfied all the way around. So go with good friends, have some wine, enjoy your charming hosts, and save room for dessert.

Rule of thumb — small restaurant with big menus? Leave! With a half a dozen salads, as many burgers and pastas plus entrees and a whole page of appetizers, the small kitchen couldn’t manage it all. Grape Adventure may be a good wine shop, but the food is dismal. Burger on cheese bread couldn’t have been greasier.(Mayonnaise plus cheese and bacon?) Despite all the ingredients and grease, it lacked flavor. Pulled pork sandwich had okay pork, but again a grease loaded bun. My companion ate thenpork and left the rest. Sampler appetizer was decent — couple adequate stuffed mushrooms, few slices of salami, a couple of decent cheese wedges, olives, and more of that cheesy bread. Wait staff was attentive, pleasant, but kitchen let them down.

I purchased an Italian Cooking lesson for me and my wife for our aniversary with Chef Denise Onorati. We learned a lot, ate a lot and had a fantastic time. I highly recommend this experience. Chef Denise is great. She is knowledgeable, personable, and fun! Scott and Katie are alway helpful and entertaining. We had a great time. Thank you for a memorable evening. Cheers!

Great food, totally worth the higher price! Big friendly atmosphere. Lacks on the intimacy-romance factor. We were surprised by the owner/server belting out an impressive rendition of Puccini’s O Mio Babbino. Overall a great experience and an impressive selection of wine. Try it!

Love having a local wine bar to go for some decent food. My favorite dish of theirs is the Italian Bread Soup — I could eat 2 bowls of it in one sitting easily(and I have)! Everyone should try it. Pricing for their wine is fair and of course they have a good wine selection, plus the owners, Scott & Katie, really know their wines. The food we’ve gotten has always been good and fairly priced for quality and what you get. The only complaints I have are that A) what you pay for the scallop dish vs. what you get seems to be off and B) some of the dishes seem a bit on the saltier side for me(but that can be addressed by asking for less salt when ordering). It would also be nice if they switched out their plates — I feel it would help with plating and go a long ways in how the food appears when it comes out. Husband and I went there for dinner a couple nights ago and enjoyed our evening there. He had a salad and their chicken breast which was cooked and seasoned perfectly. I had the penne with tomato vodka sauce and shimp and the pasta was cooked al dente and seasoned quite well. For dishes, as I stated, one MUST try the Italian Bread Soup. Don’t ask, just order it. I also love their Steak Bruschetta and Avocado Hummus. Yum. They seem to be working out their identity a bit. When we went in a couple nights ago, Katie and another server would periodically turn down the music they had playing and sing to the patrons. I think we heard 4 songs total: Katie did an opera(I was QUITE impressed with) followed by Over the Rainbow, both a cappella. The other male server did a song a cappella and he and Katie did a duet in which he played the piano. The singing was nice, just a bit odd at times. We honestly didn’t know what to think of it at first. Anyhow, Scott & Katie are both very nice and, as previously stated, knowledgable on wines. Any questions on what you should order, simply ask them. They know how to take care of customers and if something seems off, from my experience with smaller businesses, just speak up and bring it to their attention.

Recently my boss moved my «cheese» and due to one of my counterparts moving on to a new position within the company I have been assigned two of his cities and with this new added responsibility comes monthly visits to Seattle. I now have my marching orders to form relationships with the existing client base and grow our business. What is the best way to take on such a daunting task? Get them drunk! I had an early afternoon meeting with a client who loves and is passionate about wine. I knew this little wine shop was a few miles from his office and decided to stop in and pick him a gift. Grape Adventure is more than just a wine shop. They serve lunch, sell assorted gifts and of course hundreds of bottles of wine. And since it was a bottle I was in need of, this was the perfect stop. The store is so well organized it would make the Library of Congress jealous. Aisles of wine set in rows by country and/or regions. Chilean, French, Australian, Washington, Oregon, California just to name a few are all well represented. I finally settled on an expense report friendly bottle of Mt Veeder Cabernet priced at $ 30. My client was very appreciative and I am too. I’ll make this a regular stop on my visits to the Pacific Northwest.

Came here on a Friday night with a few of my girlfriends. We all had had a long week at work and needed to unwind. Now I’m pretty new to this whole wine thing and the only wine that I absolutely love is a nice cold, crisp glass of Moscato. Walking into the place I was a little skeptical because all I could see was wine. Took a few steps forward and a little dining area was revealed. It was absolutely adorable. White lights on the ceiling, clusters of grapes gently turn the wine shop into an escape from everything. Staff is super knowledgeable about wine. Seriously, any question is a good question. I was introduced to a new Moscato and it was perfect. Food was surprisingly good! I definitely recommend this nice, cozy and comfortable spot.

Visited this unique place in the outskirts of Kent on our first Thursday date night of the fall. Friends had suggested we check it out. Kind of a strange feeling walking through the front door into a retail outlet that leads to the wine bar/restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised that there was a winery pouring that evening. The service was exceptional(seemed like there was at least 7 employees scampering around, almost a 1:1 employee table ratio). We enjoyed the Tapas. The cheese platter was simple but delightful. My wife really liked the Italian wedding soup. Food was pretty good. Just wish this place had a little more of the romantic ambiance that we had expected. Strange to be sharing a glass of wine and bite of cheese and watch people 15 feet away shopping. Will be back to check it out again.

Great lunch and wine reconnecting with an old friend. I love those kinds of lunches! This is a cute, friendly wine shop off Kent Kangley, with a lot more to offer than just wine; gifts, specialty cheeses, specialty beers, full bar, lunch, dinner and neighborly staff. 1. Shared a Flight(and bought a bottle for home) 2. Cheesey Bread — highly addictive, at first I said no, then caved 3. Roasted Red Pepper Dip — good, nothing unique 4. Turkey Sliders — AMAZING! comes with 3 on a plate, all different. My fave was the Gorgonzola. Restaurant portion is closed Sunday’s and Mondays

Once again we try to post this review so others can see it. Can’t figure out why it didn’t take the first time.
