Mud Bay

This review is long overdue. I love the staff here, and the products. You guys are awesome and the freeze dried food is great for our little dogs. They help them to be less picky, letting it be wet or dry. Ziwipeak and The Primal Freeze Dried Nuggets are so amazing. I have the pickiest dogs, so thank you for your help, and I am sure we will see you guys soon.

Since my last review, the customer service is much more consistent now. The employees acknowledge you each and every time now and offer assistance if you need it.
The quality of the products they carry are still great, and I like their bucket of treats system. Buy one of the buckets (they carry 2 sizes) and each time you bring it back to fill up, they offer a discount. It’s nice they have grain free options in the treat bins and that each are labeled with the ingredient list.
Though I don’t get samples all the time, I appreciate it when they offer samples for a new product they carry in the store. I tend to stick with what my dogs have liked in the past, so it’s nice to know about the new products that might not have caught my eye.

I LOVE THIS STORE.
Seriously. My first time at this location, I was warmly greeted by a relatable associate. No sass, no snot, no jaded personality.
After they learned it was my first time there, I was given an envelope that contained a welcome letter, voucher for $ 5 off my next purchase as well as other coupons. I was then given a short tour which led me to my favorite part of the store– the sample wall. This wall is literally FULL of samples that are color-​coded according to the properties that make that particular food or snack unique: gluten-​free, grain-​free, mainly meat, mainly fish etc. You are free to take a reasonable amount of the sample bags as needed.
They also sell a lot of things that mainstream stores don’t, such as specialty and organic food, or things like doggie ice cream. They also host pet adoption sometimes from rescues. If you have a pet or planning on having a pet soon, I would definitely recommend coming here.

Small (compared to the major pet stores), but packed with products and easy to find things. Nice staff and good prices on a lot of products.

I went in to Mud Bay today for the first time, it’s time and again highly recommended to me by friends and Co workers. I can see why now. The environment is nice and the shop very clean. The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. I was greeted immediately by a fabulous young lady by the name of Chelsy who was more than happy to answer my questions and discuss dog food for my poor frenchie with allergies. She gave me a couple samples home to try with my baby, which I found very nice, and a welcome card with a coupon for my next visit. I will be coming back very soon for some dog food.

Kent, WA: They keep improving!
Each time I come to visit, seems there’s something new and improved here! Our first visit was over ten years ago, when we brought our Shih Tzu in for his first, ever, hair cut and professional bath. There is no longer a groomer in the shop now but at the time, she thoughtfully saved a lock of hair from B’s first puppy cut. Today, I was eying a new feeding bowl fashioned like a maze, that slows down the rate a poochie gobbles up a meal. Heather offered to let me take it home to try, no obligations! (It did slow this poochie’s rate of eating!) Incredible customer service.
I noticed that they also carry a broad selection of Fromm’s dog kibble now, at very competitive prices. They’ve always had a good selection of leads and collars, as well as treats and toys. They have a little everything for cats and dogs. In the past, if something was unavailable in the store, they would try to special order it.
Heather and «Biggie» were both very knowledgeable and so friendly! I am likely to return soon, not only because I have the «loaner» bowl, but to bring our poochies to a welcoming destination.
Please stop in, with or without your special paw pal (s), for a great selection of products and outstanding service.

The staff here is great! They help me find great products every time I come in, and answer all of my questions. I haven’t had to return anything yet, but I really love that it’s an option — and that they donate used items instead of tossing them.

I only came in to get my dog some food… Ended up leaving with two different kinds of food and a new organic peanut butter bone!
I literally was only in like, a ¹⁄₈^th portion of the store but I can already tell that this place is going to be dangerous… Their prices are equal or lesser than Petco’s, though!

Everything my animals need! Fantastic selection of natural/​raw products to choose from with very knowledgeable staff to help out and provide suggestions.
Prices are competitive; lowest on some products I buy most of the time, but not always. They’re never the most expensive. I usually see the same employees when i go in there. They’ve taken the time to learn about my animals and they’ve provided some amazing treat suggestions — the whole family is happy with Mud Bay!

I’ve gone to many mud bays for my sister’s dog to pick up food and toys, but this is the first time I’ve come to pick up food for my new rescue puppy. He’s a German Shepherd mix that I’ve picked up from the Seattle Humane Society. With the adoption came a $ 20 coupon for dog food. Instead of recommending a particular brand, she gave me 4 small samples of puppy food and told me to choose something that fits with my dogs appetite. I liked that I didn’t have to commit to one just yet. You walk in and you start to feel a little overwhelmed with all the different brands they carry. I picked up a couple toys, some treats, and a pooper scooper. She gave me another coupon for my next visit and had me hold on to the one that the humane society gave me. We will be back soon!!!

I don’t usually like to be helped in stores unless I ask, but the folks here do it in a way that is not annoying or pushy. (They even offered to carry the huge bag o’ dog food into my car for me!)
I love shopping here because of the selection, service, and quality. I’m willing to pay a little bit more to spoil my little fur baby if it means less crap going into her little body.
The stuffed animals/​toys are so cute– I always come here when I get pet gifts for friends.
Oh, and if you’re trying to find the right food for your fur baby, they have a wall of samples so you find the right one. Or, if you get a bag and it doesn’t work out, they help you until you find one that works.

Knowledgable and friendly with a lot of stuff your local pet smart wouldn’t have. Competitive prices with great genuine people. Mud Bay is all my puppy gets ;) service is great as well–

I wish I could give this place more stars!!! I had JUST visited the other blue and red pet store chain in Kent and walked outta there vowing never to return! Customer service makes ALL the difference people! Today I was looking for high quality wet food for my picky dog. Miranda was so friendly, helpful, and even cleaned up my dog’s accident! I offered to do it but she insisted with a positive attitude. She recommended some brands and gave me samples. When checking out, I thought I would have to pay something! but NO! She said, «Nope, it’s risk free samples for you to figure out which one your dog likes the best!» WOW! Thank you Miranda & Mud Bay for really going above and beyond!!! It really shows you care not about each penny, but helping customers find high quality, affordable products for their beloved pets. You’ve gained a loyal customer today. I’ll be back once I figure out which one Jr. loves best! Thanks again!

The people that work here are great, friendly very knowledgable and more than willing to help.
I’m a new cat owner and her breeder had her on a raw food diet fair to say I knew nothing about it — I thought cats only ate dry food! Needless to say I got helpful information on how go keep my Egyptian Mau on her raw diet and some fun toys, she’s one happy girl.

I don’t have a pet but I’ve been to this place with friends enough to see that it’s definitely not your average 3 star pet store. For such a seemingly small store, there are lots of choices. It also looks like the employees truly love pets and are definitely willing to help you out/​give you recommendations.
Also, it’s a very convenient pet store without having to venture out to the Target area.

I’m new to the area and have been looking for a good holistic/​pet-​health-​centered shop … this is the place!
I was originally introduced to Mud Bay Granary by a friend who knew that I was looking for a very special supplement (milk thistle) for my 6-​year-​old blue Dobe with skin/​coat issues and possible liver failure issues. Having had done some research for my guy’s issues, I knew what I needed but didn’t know where to get it. Mud Bay Granary didn’t have what I needed on the day that I went in, but they found the right supplement and transferred it in for me … within two days …
I went back to the store today to pick up my product (Animals’ Apawthecary Detox Blend) with my Dobe, SoHo. And not only did the staff take a bit more time to talk to me about the product and my guy’s needs, but they took extra steps to help me find new food options for him (at my request). They also expressed interest in the effect of the Animals’ Apawthecary on SoHo’s health and told me that if it didn’t work, or that if there were any other issues, I could come back at anytime for a return. I would never do that, of course, but it was nice that they presented the option. Great customer service … for humans, canines, and felines!
I brought SoHo into the store (leashed, of course) and the entire staff came up to meet him, give him treats after he’d ‘worked for them’ (again, at my request), and give him some love. Not only did I leave that store with 4 different sample packets of possible food-​matches for SoHo … I left that store with a happy dog, some hope for his holistic health, and the feeling that I never want to shop anywhere else for anything else that my Old Man Puppy might need.
The staff of Mud Bay Granary is awesome, their selection is solid, and I am, now, a totally committed customer.

Still enjoy coming to this store. They are very generous with samples and treats. I always walk out with freebies.
I had to return a bunch of items my dog didn’t like. Even though I lost my receipt they offered me in-​store credit and I spent every last cent of it. This time letting the dog pick out his treats from the bins on his own proved an effective way to make sure the items I bought were liked.

I always come here to buy my dog food! The staff was nice and helpful. I wish they had more dog toys though.
