The Chesapeake Framing Co

I just picked up my first framing job from Chesapeake, and the work they do is really top-​notch. From selecting an appropriate frame and mat to making the right glass selection, they really go the extra step in making sure the final product will be exactly to your liking and will make the piece you frame look fantastic.
While there today, I dropped off a second piece, and Pam made some great creative suggestions to make sure the artwork would look perfect; I have no doubt it will. The folks here are experts at what they do, and best of all, they make it fun!

We’re so happy with the work we had done here — it looks fantastic.
This was our first time having something professionally framed. We went in on a Saturday afternoon — they were holding an event/​art sale at the same time, but we still didn’t have to wait to be helped. The woman we worked with (I forget her name, but super-​nice) listened to what we were hoping to find and selected a range of sample frames that matched our artwork and our tastes. It took us less than five minutes to pick out a frame (we tend to be very decisive about things like this!). To help us visualize what the finished product would look like, she brought out some of their other work from the back room.
As others have mentioned, it’s pricey. We used a Living Social to help with some of the cost, but it was still a *lot*. The woman helping us actually seemed to be taken aback at the price, too — she priced it, and came back apologetic about the cost and offering to help us pick out a less expensive frame it we preferred. We decided that it was worth it, but it was more than we expected!
We had to pay half of the cost up front. Quoted time for the work was two weeks. It ended up being four weeks because the frame we chose was backordered, but they told us as soon as they found out and kept us in the loop the whole time.

Great local place for framing. They took their time w/​me and gave me estimates on various frame types. I thought the prices were reasonable and will return here when I have more art for framing.

I can’t write highly enough of Chesapeake Framing Co. — they do wonderful work. I’ve had two antique ads framed here, one out of a magazine and the other a large 100-​year-​old poster. Both pieces were very fragile due to their age.
Pam helped me both times and I was so impressed with her knowledge of different framing materials, glass, and colors. She pointed out how different frames would bring out certain colors in the pieces, how certain materials leant themselves better to the texture and feel of an older piece… I would never have realized these things on my own. Pam was attentive and more importantly, interested in how much the ads meant to me — one was a great find for a collection on which I’ve been working for 20 years.
The prices here are not cheap by any means but are well worth it due to Chesapeake’s overall high quality workmanship. Both times I took advantage of Angies List specials which helped bring down the costs. I will definitely be back the next time I have something to frame.

I haven’t gotten my frame back yet, but their customer service and knowledge is impeccable! You can find others slightly cheaper, but you get what you pay for. I’d definitely use this place in the future.

I have had at least 6 things framed in the last 6 months. The prices were all very fair. Some were gifts and each person loved the framing. Not being great at picking out frames I have relied on several of their staff to guide me and I have been very pleased with the result. All staff are friendly and warm. I got to see their workroom where the magic happens — that was interesting. Always busy with customers but able to make all associated deadlines. I will keep going back.

They do a very good job here — we always use them for our framing. They have a good selection of frames and glass and they give a fair price.

I’ve had two difficult items framed by Chesapeake Framing in the last year and I’m impressed. Both required creative input from the staff; in one case, I was completely taken aback (in a delighted way) by how their framing changed a watercolor that I had inappropriately framed two decades ago. It’s also great that you can park right in front of their shop, for those large and heavy items. While not inexpensive, Chesapeake does consistently good work and is definitely worth the money.

We’ve been here twice now and had three things framed. We used a Living Social or some other type of deal both times which made the framing costs much more within our budget. Everyone there is SO nice, and we worked with the same woman both times (can’t remember her name though… blonde girl). She was really great, showed us lots of options, talked to us about museum glass, and most importantly listed to us when we said we didn’t want to spend too much.
We had to frame a pretty large canvas print and wanted something on the wider side, but most options we liked were too pricey for us. She had a great idea and went into the back and pulled out a really great wooden frame that they had made for something else but didn’t end up using. She offered to custom fit it to our piece for a ridiculously low price. And now it’s hanging in our dining room and looks awesome!

They don’t tell you what you need, they work alongside you as a partner to ensure you get the best product for you. I like to shop this way. I do not like pushy people that try to tell me what I need or try to impress me with their knowledge by talking over my head.
The owner Mary Jo is an incredible person. She is very personable and always makes time for you.

I am so excited with my two pieces that they framed – and one I paid out of pocket without a coupon because I was struck with their interest in helping my find a frame for two very unusual pieces. I encourage you to visit them with or without a deal, they are superb!

I L-​O-​V-​E the Chesapeake Framing Co. They are fantastic! They get so into the framing and are extremely creative! They always do a great job! Patrick is very, very creative and is always really excited about picking out frames, and giving variety to choose from! All the people are friendly, and they’ll come out to your house for free to consult on where to put different pieces of artwork and photography! Love this place!!!
