To be fair, I have tried Sea Swipers three time in the last month before writing this review. First time, my husband had the Capt. platter. It was a little expensive for fast food.(over $ 12) but very tasty! They are skimpy on the tartar sauce, half a container for all that food was not enough. Wasn’t sure if they charged for extra or not. I had the chowder and it was very good. On the second visit, both my husband and I had the oysters and chips. They sure didn’t watch how they put up the order because my husband got 6 large oysters and I got 6 very small ones. Wish I took a picture as it was comical. However, they were very good. I had to fill up on fries since the oysters were so small. The heavy rock n roll music was way too loud but the kitchen seemed to enjoy it. Would have been better if it was turned down a bit. Chowder was good this visit, too! Third visit, we both decided to have the Capt. platter since I wanted to try a variety of seafood. I had the chowder and was very good and hot. Would recommend… not bad for fast food. However, was very disappointed in the seafood. Again, got half a cup of tartar for all that seafood. Not nearly enough. Needed two containers of tartar sauce. My seafood stayed in the deep fryer way too long. The scallop was hard as a rock. My oyster was very small and also hard as a rock. The fish was pretty good and the shrimp was mediocre since it was overcooked also. The table next to us also had the captains platter and his did not look overcooked at all. It was amazing the difference between his food and ours. The manager at the register did not appear approachable. He seemed irritated with his staff of teenagers in the back. Did not feel like we could complain. Again the music was way way too loud. The teens in the kitchen loved it, but not my type of music. Is sad when the side dish of fries is what fills you up. Side dish is supposed to be just that… a side… not the part that fills you up! Again, the chowder was good and hot. If this place was more consistent, I would give it a higher rating. Maybe it is still new and they have to work out the kinks. But I won’t be having their overpriced, overcooked seafood again for a long time. I will stick to the crispy meat burritos from the Taco time part of the restaurant. They are always good!
