Wake me up because I feel like I’m back in New Jersey! YAY… those sandwiches that are bigger than your mouth can open! An amazing experience! I had a Reuben on marble rye bread that literally blew me away. The corned beef was amazingly lean and piled high enough to make two sandwiches. The homemade potato chips were a great accompaniment and the pickle took me back to my northern upbringing. The really great part… there were 28 of us and our group was accommodated with perfect seating and excellent service. WARNING… TAKENOTE: You only have 5 weeks to enjoy this terrific dining spot. They have sold their business and plan on closing the middle of October. Don’t miss out on an opportunity to enjoy a meal here before they become dining history. As my friend Jerry said, «Oy Vey.»

This is another amazing restaurant that I never would have tried if not for Unilocal. The outside of Simply Delicious is very kitschy and you may even wonder whether or not the place is open or still there. When you walk in the entrance(which is on the backside of the building), your mind will be blown. It is really nice on the inside! It has an old(very clean) black, white and red New York dinner feel to it. There are old Broadway posters framed on the wall and they even have a small brick wall with barbed wire fence at the top in one section of the restaurant. The décor is fantastic. On to the food. My eyes grew big as I read the menu. This restaurant is definitely more than just a New York Deli. They have stuffed cabbage, meatloaf and much more. We were in the mood for burgers. I was very pleased that their menu had a full page of burgers. I was having a hard time deciding on what to get when my eye caught one word: Latke(which is a potato pancake if you are not familiar with the term). They had a burger with Latkes instead of bread! Done. My Husband opted for the Simply Delicious with bacon(a double cheeseburger) and we both paid an extra 99 cents for fries with our meal. When our burgers arrived they looked and tasted just as good as they sounded. The Latkes were really hot to pick up, but they were delicious. Definitely the best Latkes I have had. They had some sort of herbs and seasonings mixed in for an excellent flavor. It went really well with the burger. My Husband loved his burger too and was happy that they actually cooked it medium rare(most places cook it well done when he orders it medium rare). We liked it so much that we ordered deli sandwiches to go for work later that night(which were piled high and some of the best deli sandwiches we have ever had). Simply Delicious is definitely budget friendly too. They have dinners that are 2 for $ 20(including the mentioned meatloaf and stuffed cabbage). They also have really great specials everyday of the week. I am uploading a picture I took of the specials. We will definitely become regulars at Simply Delicious. While the name does not fit the décor; it definitely describes the food.

Looking for a different dinning experience. This is the place. A New York Deli, in Kenneth City, who knew? The outside is quirky, kind of looks like a subway car. The inside looks just like a deli, only with live piano music! Guys must check out the men’s room! The menu was extensive, and we had a hard time deciding but decide we did. We shared an appetizer of Pastrami Reuben Egg rolls. Simply delicious. Four cut egg rolls filled with pastrami, Swiss cheese, and Russian dressing. Can’t say enough good things about this app. We also ordered Chicken Noodle Soup, that was chock full of large pieces of chicken and vegetables in a nice broth that wasn’t loaded with sodium. Very good, it’s Jewish Penicillin at its best. My Bride had the«all you can eat» fish and chips with a side of coleslaw, which she couldn’t finish the original serving. Rookie. Nice light flakey Pollock. FF were OK. I opted for the Shepherd’s Pie. Beef, onions, carrots, peas, in a savory gravy, topped with mashed potatoes and cheddar cheese. Served in a larger ramekin bowl. Good eaten here! After all this food they brought out a desert platter. Oh the choices… Well we chose warm blueberry cobbler Ala mode, and plain cheese cake with strawberries… to go! All the deserts are home made on the premises. The owner George and his Mother are very warm and welcoming. The piano player Gregory Allen plays softly in the background while dinning. A Simply Delicious and unique dinning experience. Oy Vey!

Don’t let the gimmicky exterior dissuade you, because it’s actually kind of neat inside. It has a diner/deli feel with lots of NY memorabilia in the décor. The menu here is pretty straightforward — lots of sandwiches, some burgers, and some other«not between slices of bread» options. I tried the roast beef and swiss dip sandwich with a side of onion straws. The sandwich was good(and a fairly large portion), but I definitely passed on the gravy. I’ve never been a gravy person(outside of my mother’s) but would have loved some au jus instead. The onion straws were really onion rings, as these are two different things in my opinion. I will say they weren’t greasy and they weren’t like an inch thick or anything, but they weren’t those super thin ones I think of when I see onion straws on a menu. I also decided to try some cake because they had a nice selection, and I ordered the layered rum cake with coconut frosting. It was a huge piece and it it was worth ordering again. I also tried a bite of my friend’s bread pudding which was made with croissants. While I’m not a bread pudding person, it was still a solid dessert. Our waitress was pretty friendly, and there’s nothing I can complain about on the service side of things. Also, the place is pretty much spotless inside which always makes me feel good eating somewhere.

Yes this will be one of my new favorite spots! Very interesting selections of food. Good place to bring my 2 year old and CHEAP Beer!!! I will be coming back frequently. Also, I showed them the 10% discount advertised on their website and got the discount, even though I was basicly just showing them their own website on my cell phone. That was pretty neat! I ordered the stuffed cabbage, latke — yum! My wife ordered the ruben quesa– yum!

This place reminded me of a real NY deli… I think it was the Stage Door, but it has been so long since I’ve been in NYC that I could be wrong. Anyway… This place has kind of a kitschy paint job on the exterior, and the inside is the long hallway type of place with the register up front and tables that extend to the rear. There are Playbills and other NYC-abilia decorating the walls. They also have the TVs tuned to some NY station that plays a constant loop of NY news/features. Sandwiches were good, the matzo ball soup unlike any I’ve had before,(lots of veggies in addition to the matzo), desserts very good, and OK/good service. They have egg cream for those who like that stuff, and the waiter explained that they fly their bread in from Brooklyn and that whole loaves are for sale if one wants. I enjoyed our meals here. We’ve eaten at a whole lot of places in St. Pete that claim«NY Style» this or that. This is, so far, only the second place to even come close to good NY style anything.

I love this place! I’ve never actually been to a NY Deli but I’d like to believe this is pretty close. The food is awesome and the atmosphere is very relaxing, expecially when the pianist is playing, the staff is friendly, and we always leave satisfied.

Still a great place to go for a tasty meal and drink, Simply Delicious unfortunately no longer serves breakfast. Hours have been changed: opens at 11am. Brunch is served Sat/Sun 11am-2pm. Sad to see breakfast go away, it was goooood. Maybe in the future they will at least offer breakfast on the weekends.

We have eaten there for breakfast, lunch and dinner now multiple times. The food is great. The portions are good. Service has been wonderful. I enjoy the atmosphere and the live piano music & singers that were there on our last visit. I haven’t tried one thing that I haven’t enjoyed! YUMMY!!!

While I give the décor & service a 5, the 3 star rating is because the food is only so-so. I had the roast chicken. The menu claims that«this will be the best roast chicken you’ll ever have». Sorry, but no… The chicken was dry. The fries were ok, but not great. The salad was standard. Clearly Simply Delicious blows away local diner competitors like Christina’s & Egg Platter, but it wasn’t good enough to make me a regular.

If you like brisket, pot roast, meat loaf and mash potatoes, then you will like Simply Delicious. Their dining room also has a great atmosphere and décor. Not what you would expect, from the outside looking in.

This was my 2nd visit here and I am glad I came back, We stopped in for a late lunch on a unusually damp day. The atmosphere has warm and cozy feel to it and the people make you feel right at home. We were served a complimentary basket of assorted breads all freshly made on premises and which you can can take home a loaf or two with you. We both ordered a bowl of soup, I ordered the Barley Turkey Mushroom and my dear friend ordered the Chicken Matzo Ball. My soup was very filling and hearty and warmed you up very well, If I was just marginally hungry I could’ve gotten away with this just this. My friend’s soup was excellent, nice size Matzo with large amounts of roasted chicken and a full bodied broth that was not overly salted. Basically Jewish Penicillin in a bowl. I ordered the dinner special of the day which is was for Thursday, roasted Turkey with mashed potatoes, stuffing and cranberries aka Thanksgiving Every Thursday. Turkey was a very generous portion with creamy buttery bacon mashed potatoes, stuffing and a side of cranberries. My only small gripe was I wish there was more cranberries, Otherwise it was an really good meal for less than $ 11! My friend went a lighter route and ordered an order of potato pancakes with a side of applesauce. They were decent not the best PP I ever eaten but she liked them and that’s all that mattered. After being stuffed between the soup and the entrees we decided to take our dessert choices to go. I chose the Mint Cheesecake and my friend chose the Strawberry creation. When we got back home we realized the portions that they gave us were HUGE! Her’s was a large swath of the strawberry cake filled with strawberry glaze and nuts, the aroma of this cake was amazing in itself. My Mint Cheesecake was like this mini-sized cheesecake about 5″ in circumference of layered mintyness and velvety cheesecake upon a chocolate foundation, Both items were something you would find in a gourmet bakery but are available here daily at a fair price. Service is like what you would get from your Mom, they are super friendly attentive and want to make sure you leave full and satisfied. Staff is as top notch as the food. The entrance is in the rear of the building adjacent to Kmart. This place is a must try for anyone who misses your Mom cooking for you.

Great Atmosphere and super friendly service. The Brisket sandwich I had however was mediocre. Chewy, not enough flavor, and dry. The Cheesecake and Peanut butter chocolate cake were super awesome. I will def be back to try something else off the menu in hopes of upgrading this to 4 stars due to the great service and clean facility.

Almost 5 stars! The name says it all for their breakfast — Simply Delicious! I had the classic breakfast. Eggs were cooked perfectly(over medium,) sausage patties were fresh and flavorful, NY Home Fries were nicely seasoned with a dash of onions and peppers. The thick cut toast was fresh and glazed with real butter. My wife had corned Beef Hash. The Corned Beef was lean and tender, her egg whites weren’t cooked as well as she prefers(she likes them with crispy edges,) and she, too, loved the home fries and toast. The atmosphere is delightful. We go to New York City about twice a year. I’ve been to numerous«famous» deli’s there and I can honestly say I have never had as good a breakfast there as I did at Simply Delicious. We went at about 10:30AM so we saw many sandwiches being served with mounds of meat. Almost everyone asked for a to go box. My wife even asked for one for her leftover marble toast. Price is slightly high for here but very reasonable compared to NY delis. Sevice was good and agin, similar to what you would expect in New York. Don’t let the cheezy exterior fool you. The inside décor is wonderful and clean. We will definitely be back! Highly recommended!

First time ordered reuben fatty not enough sauerkraut had to track down waitress we realized she did not ask us what type of breads on our sandwiches. Good thing their reuben was not going to be made with dark bread unless you ask.(maybe this is my Chicago thing). Husband had pastrami was not spicy. Will go back for Its pretty new place.

A very friendly staff. Rhonda, my server, was awesome! Besides the great service, the Rueben sandwich was one of the best I ever had. I have also had breakfast here which was also very good. It is a little pricey, but you get what you pay for… I will definitely return!

No need to bore readers with a long drawn out review. Great food with tons of flavor, cooking techniques just done right and more than generous portions. A diner that does a Currant Glazed Roasted Half Chicken that boasts to be «the best chicken you’ll ever have» and delivers. It was moist, flavorful and delicious. You have to try this food. The brisket is awesome. Even the more times than often boring coleslaw packs some yummy flavor at this joint. If you don’t get the croissant bread pudding with a warm vanilla sauce you’ve really missed out. I’m calling Guy Fieri!

Why 4 stars?(Brett) Because Unilocal doesn’t have a 4.5 star option. This place is AMAZING. The design budget alone(interior and exterior), must have been incredibly vast. I was impressed enough with the detail on the outside, but when I got inside — it really just blew me away. In this area of town, one does not expect this level of awesomeness. The windows, all covered with one-way graphics, make for a really cool, soothing atmosphere within. Luckily, the food pretty much backs up the huge expectations. It’s a bit on the pricier side, but worth it for the total package this place delivers. Here’s where they lose a half star though, as the grub wasn’t necessarily«over the top» excellent. PANCAKES: Listed on the menu as «three LARGE and FLUFFY pancakes» for 6.99-ish. They are NOT large, nor are they fluffy. It also appears they are made with cornmeal, as they are very thin and«dense» like a cornmeal cake. Quite good actually. Not what is expected from the menu, but yummy! I opted for the«house special» warm vanilla sauce instead of syrup — and it was superb. They didn’t serve butter either, just a little tub of the vanilla sauce as an «all in one» topping. Unique and delicious. 6.99 is the most I have ever paid for 3 small pancakes though… BACON: Good, and perfectly cooked. A smallish side though, and very thin-cut. Not especially remarkable, but not bad either. BISCUITSANDGRAVY: This was the weakest option. It had NO flavor to speak of. The consistency was perfect(very thick), it had plenty of sausage, and the biscuit itself was also spot on. My girlfriend agreed, it was not something we would order again. Restroom note: You know a place is over the top when the bathroom alone is nicer than most restaurants in the area. It is done in a «locker room» motif, including a flatscreen TV streaming sports. The urinal is even contained in it’s own locking mini-stall! One of the best, and most interesting, restrooms in St Pete. I can’t wait to come back for lunch! Welcome to the rotation Simply Delicious! UPDATE: Remember to ask for the FREE«Sunshine Basket» of bread & pastries(when you order any of the signature breakfasts) Second visit: Tried the«Strata» a giant beast of ham, egg, & cheese with hollandaise sauce over the top. Good! Served with home fries that did not have much flavor. Again, the food here did not overwhelm me with greatness. It’s like everything is missing a little«something» to make it extra special.

Don’t let the crappy outside lighting fool you… this place is cute inside! Stepping inside the red booths and vibrant yellow subway signs standout at you and it was quite cold. We asked to be seated in the back where it might be warmer. We ended up at a duce booth situated against the wall for the restroom entrances. The place is well lit and has numerous fascinating items on the walls to look at. The decorum is New York City. The food sits between a deli and a family style restaurant. Serving breakfast, sandwiches, and dinner finished with homemade desserts. We were served by a cranky middle aged woman named Michelle for most of the meal. The restaurant had approximately 6 table sat and it was her and another server named Jeanette who we would later find out was charming. She took awhile to get our drink order which was only waters and hot tea for both of us. I was not given an option of any flavors of tea upon ordering. I went to the restroom to wash up. The restroom was decorated as is the restaurant with flair. The motif for the men’s room was locker room. It had faux lockers and 3 stalls one of which contains a urinal with a cool picture of the classic Who’s on First scene. There is a nice flat screen TV in the restroom as well and unfortunately it is positioned in such a horrible location it is only viewable while you wash your hands, bummer! I later discovered the women’s room has a cute«Breakfast at Tiffany’s style with mini chandeliers and peacocks — too cute! As I returned to the table I noticed my single pot of water on a doilies with a ridiculously small, mostly rhine lemon wedge seated next to it with no spoon. There was also a small plate with honey packets. The server came back to take our order after saying she need to take another table’s order first.(weird) When she returned and we placed the order she asked if we would like bread and we said and she remarked that she didn’t know where she was going to place it(due to the table size as if I had control of this) again quite odd. My wife ordered the CURRANTGLAZEDROASTEDHALFCHICKEN, served with latkes and a salad with the home made poppy dressing. I ordered the MARVELOUSMEATLOAF with Smashed Potatoes and a salad with blue cheese dressing. When the salads arrived I was pleasantly surprised to see it wasn’t all iceberg lettuce. Topped with cherry tomatoes cut in half and homemade croutons of various types, I could make out rye, wheat, and pumpernickel. The dressing was served in the bowl, on the side, in a small plastic ramekin. Both dressing were quite tasty with mine containing nice chunks of bleu cheese and my wife’s poppy dressing was tart and tangy with poppy seeds throughout, a nice start. Our server returned with the bread that we were told was made on premise and I quickly became a bit disappointed as it was served cold. I didn’t take any but my wife tried one resembling an onion roll that I sampled and the flavor was quite nice, too bad it was cold. The timing of the entrée’s was decent having just finished my salad at a comfortable pace when they arrived. The meat items seemed quite large. Her chicken was easily ½ chicken and my meatloaf was almost 2» thick by 5″ squared. Her side item of latkes consisted of two 4″ round cakes served with both sour cream and applesauce. My smashed potatoes pile was quite large at around 3 cups possibly. You could tell my potatoes were home made with good chunks of potato with skin throughout for a nice consistency. Her latkes were very good with a nice onion, parsley mix and a decent ratio of soft to crunchy. Concerning my meatloaf, I found the texture of the ground beef to be a bit like canned dog food actually. I did occasionally find an onion or perhaps a piece of celery(I couldn’t tell which) but mostly it was ground too smooth. The gravy served with my meatloaf was smothered over the large rock of meat in abundance. It was, as described, «Burgandy Onion Gravy» except for the onion part. It had sufficient tart and consistency for a burgundy, but lacked any presence of onion. Truth be told, a simple brown gravy from a packet would have been better. The chicken had the entire currant seasoning contained on the skin which left the meat dry and lifeless. The flavor was wonderful however which forced my wife to break her dietary rules and sample a bit. Our server had disappeared and never did ask us how our meals were after she served them but I saw a «manager type» guy as he exited the restroom and stopped him. When we let him know about the chicken he simply explained it away as sometimes you get chicken like that. Huh? Anyway move along please… (Review cut short)

The exterior and interior are fantastic. The food while not terrible certainly did not meet my expectations. The staff is friendly but should brush up on their knowledge about the dishes they serve. I will definitely give this place a second chance in hopes that I’m wowed next time!
