$ 3.99 breakfast special is yummy and cheap. Can’t be beat. The staff is always super friendly and spot on with requests. The bacon is better than the sausage. The French toast looks as good as it tastes. And could feed two. Pancakes are also good.

Love this place for breakfast. Our regular Saturday stop. Friendly service. Typical southern breakfast fare.

I left TWSC hungry. I came for breakfast and ordered eggs, sausage, and pancakes. The coffee was burnt, but too watery for the burnt flavor to be an issue. The water, served in plastic cups, tasted like bleach. The pancakes were thick and rubbery. The eggs were overcooked and coated in cheap oil. The sausages were bland and unremarkable. Our waitress seemed nice but uneducated as to how to do her job. The décor was tired. Overall, worse than any cafeteria experience I have ever had. I hate to give out one-star reviews because I appreciate that these people are trying to do business, but I could not eat the food and wish I’d gone to McDonald’s instead.

I read through the reviews and see that there seems to be a really large division. Some people seem to really love the place and some people seem to really hate the place. This is something that I’m not accustomed to seeing. Yes, there are some one offs in every review. But, you can just chalk that up to that there is going to be a complainer in every group. That being said … my partner, myself and a buddy tried the restaurant this morning. I’m really glad that we did. The restaurant is quaint. Nothing spectacular and there is a cute train that runs along the ceiling. The staff was attentive and was genuinely interested in our experience. Every portion of breakfast was tasty. And to the person that said that«breakfast was too expensive?» You’ve got to be crazy. Unless you’re going to McDonald’s, you are not going to find a more reasonable breakfast. So, give this place a shot. Don’t be discouraged by the negatives that are posted.

Breakfast is great at all whistle stops I have been to, but for the love of God, steer clear of this location for lunch. I made the mistake today to come in for the ribeye sandwich. It was a tiny scrap of meat, paper thin, and looked like one of those horrifying dollar store steaks. I paid $ 8.00 for it, and of course it came with a bun full of mayonnaise without any warning.

Local home cooking restaurant. Nothing fancy. .just good food at a good price! Today I had grilled liver and onions with mashed potatoes and gravy and speckled butter beans and a biscuit for $ 6.99. Staff is friendly. .train goes around for adults and kids alike! Love the daily breakfast special for $ 3.99. Been coming here for years! They accommodate large groups too!

Whistle Stop is a wonderful café. Somer, our waitress has a winning smile and a great personality. She lights up the room when she enters. The food was good. We had two breakfasts there and both my wife and I really enjoyed the quality and quantity of the food. The fair is much like Cracker Barrel as Lena G points out, but the tables are not stacked on top of each other. The train running around the ceiling is a delight for young and old and reminded my wife of a café she used to love back in Nebraska where she grew up. This is a nice café and the next time I find myself in Kennesaw, I will make a point of stopping by and testing their noon or evening menus.

Not good. Salmon patties dry. Collards were sweeter than candy-ugh. Pork chops dry. Northern beans over salted. The server was very good however.

Pork chops was ok. Sides were awful. Cobbler not bad. My wife salad had watered down lettuce and 5 slices a chicken. Not a good experience, want return, our waitress was friendly though.

«Picture a small town with an old hound Layin out front of the courthouse While the ol men chew the fat I’m a little more country than that» –country song lyrics that came to mind to describe Whistle Stop Café If you enjoy Cracker Barrel, you would most likely enjoy the food here. My 2yo loved the train that goes overhead. It went over our heads several times during our visit and every time he was wide eyed with excitement. The train was the reason we visited; my son loves trains. I ordered the Daily Special which was Chicken and Dumplings with two sides and a drink for $ 6, with $ 2 blackberry cobbler for dessert. Very economical. They also boast a full breakfast platter for $ 3.99. I have no idea how the waitresses make a living off of tips on food prices that low. The food here is very southern traditional. No twists or surprises. I’ll give it 5stars for delivering food that tastes decent at a low price point to a crowd that likes food like that. Neither my 2yo or I liked the food though; to give you a reference, what we enjoy eating is sushi from upscale sushi places(not Ru Sans!), artisan grass-fed burgers like served at Moxie Burger, shrimp&grits from Marlow’s Tavern. The food at Whistle Stop Café is affordably priced and nothing was wrong with the food or restaurant; it’s just not our style.

They were busy, but still quickly seated and served. Fried catfish was excellent. I will be returning.

The food is not bad if you are used to pulling something out from your freezer and popping it in the microwave. Then letting it sit for a while before you eat as the food was not piping hot when served to us. We waited for 20 – 25 minutes for food so we were thinking it would be homemade fresh! I got a crab cake which was perfectly round and breaded heavily. It almost looked like you could cook it by popping it in your toaster.(Mrs. Paul’s perhaps?) My peas were good but like from a can and no seasoning and the tiny cucumber salad was decent. So, the food is not bad but more on the level of microwaving a plate at home. Oh, and the flatware is truly flat. Pressed out of sheet metal thin type. Very flimsy. For almost $ 20 for 2 people, we wished we had spent more wisely.

I’m gonna start off by saying that I’ve been here several times for breakfast and for the price, it was great!!! This was my 1st time here for lunch and well… I was NOT very impressed at all! It’s about $ 8 a person with drink… 1 meat 2sides and cornbread muffin. On the surface, it looks and sounds like a good deal… Well, ITSNOT!!! I couldn’t decide whether to get the grilled or fried pork chops so our waitress suggested the grilled… So that’s what I got. I also ordered sweet potato fries and mac&cheese… Now the fun begins. Lolol I find myself waiting and waiting!!! My wife tells me to be patient that the food is PROBABLY cooked to order!! After about 25 minutes our food arrives… FYIITWASNOTCOOKEDTOORDER!!! I was surprised to see that there were actually 2 pork chops on my plate, a generous portion of sweet potato fries, a bowl of mac&cheese!!! Mmm mmmm couldn’t wait to dig in! The pork chops were quite good and so was the fries! To bad they were COLD!!! And whatever you do, DONOTGETTHEMAC&CHEESE!!! I guarantee it was Kroger brand mac&cheese with POWDERED cheese!!! I think the words I’m looking for are DISGUSTINGANDBLAND!!! I still can not get over the fact that we waited 25 minutes for COLDFOOD that was obviously NOTFRESH in any way!!! My wife got a crab cake that HAD to come from a mrs Paul frozen dinner. Her entire meal was COLD also and she had the exact same complaints as I did!!! If they can’t do better, I honestly feel like they should open for breakfast ONLY… My suggestion for this place is, 4stars for breakfast and BARELY2 stars for lunch… Only reason I give it 2 instead of 1 is that the chops were very good even if they were COLD!!! The ONLY person I would suggest to come here for lunch would be my bipolar psycho ex!!!

My Lunch Buddy(LB) & I were headed to a new spot in the same strip mall and upon arrival we see a line nearly out the door, so my LB suggested going a couple doors down to this place. The LB went ahead of me to see if we could be seated(they had a nice crowd aIso… But I notice alot of elderly people), reluctantly I joined her, and we were greeted & seated. Service was great!!! Sandra waited on us, she was very nice and attentive. She made sure our glasses stayed full of lemonade and got us in and out in a timely manner. The food was a different story. I must say that I was very disappointed with the food here. I mean, It looked good, but it was very bland. I order the fried tilapia plate with cabbages and macaroni and cheese. The fried tilapia had no taste at all, the cabbages tasted like they had been seasoned with some type of meat, but no salt at all, and the mac&cheese seemed like the boxed stuff. For a min, I was a salt and pepper shaking, hot sauce slanging crazy lady. My LB had turkey and dressing, collard greens & macaroni and cheese. She allow me to taste the turkey and dressing and it was tasteless, she also complained about being given alot of the fatty parts of the turkey (eeewww). Question: Were there any trains or whistles??? I think maybe… there was definitely a little track near the ceiling that went around the entire restaurant. –lol, cute! If you are on a health regimen and looking for Southern cuisine, then this may be the perfect place for you, it just wasn’t for me.

Excellent service! She was really sweet and attentive. The food was pretty average, not great but good. $ 19 for lunch for 2 is a bit steep for the quality.

The ambience was bland and the food was sub-par. The one cool thing was the train they had that travels around the top of the wall of the restaurant. I visited this place for breakfast and it was cheap, but still not worth the money to me. The food didn’t taste fresh, the gravy seemed like grey goop with no flavor, and the service wasn’t exceptional either.

Finished up breakfast and my opinion is up. Got in a few minutes before 12pm on a Sunday a was told we had three min if we wanted to get breakfast in. No problem, quickly we order our food. The food was out in about 5 min! The food was warm no steam but no compliant because we showed up at the end of breakfast. Tasted good and would visit again but come earlier to ensure fresh hot meal.

My omelette was undercooked and server never came by to ask how food tasted. As I was paying the cashier asked«how was everything»? I told her about the omelette and she didn’t say a word. I asked if she would say something to someone and her response was yeah. I sure would have liked a «I’m sorry» any reaction! Don’t waste your time at this place.

OK, so ima Decaturianite. Decaturian? Decaturan? Anyway, I’m from Decatur so I’m not expecting much from any place in the city of K(where I happen to work). Please, don’t cry. I’m OK with it. Really. No, not. So my coworkers love this place and I go to lunch with them one day and I order the BLT to be safe. I mean, can you really F-up a BLT? Answer: YES. How: you FRY the bacon. In a deep-fryer! A little background so you know that i know my bacon: My hubby is a chef and I worked in restaurants — that’s how we met, so I know that frying bacon is a really easy way to cook it fast. Problem — it’s really greasy, crunchy, and… just NOTGOOD. Please, never fry your bacon in a vat of hot grease. You will kill your bacon. Dead. RIP. And so forth. I love my share of Mom-n-Pops but I’m here to tell you, this is no Mom-n-Pop. Even cheap prices don’t undo the non-lunch I was served. Step up your game, WS.

The food is great and the train that goes around the perimeter of the restaurant is great for little kids! My 18 month old son loved it and was excited to say, «Choo-Choo!» every time the train came by. The menu is printed on a piece of paper… It was a bit weird, but just about everything on the menu comes with two sides. I tried the fried green tomatoes and they were delicious! Perfectly cooked and flavored just as I had hoped. If you go on a Sunday, be prepared to wait. Especially with the church crowds. We were fortunate enough to come between two groups and didn’t have a wait at all.
