Meh. Went on a Sunday for lunch. Family style, took forever, choices weren’t great, food wasn’t great(except for the fried chicken, which I have to give them).

I FREAKINGLOVETHISPLACE! The service is always fantasic as soon as you walk in. The ambiance is nice and quite. Its like having dinner at your grandmothers place. The food is beyond amazing! Good down home southern cooking made just like granny’s! The portion sizes are huge and for $ 9 at lunch time, you get a drink, corn bread, a meat, 3 sides and dessert! You cant beat that! The only down side is parking is hard to come by when they are busy.

As I have mentioned, I like to support the home town crowd. Not chain restaurants. I was getting my car serviced at Bimmer’s and dropped in here beforehand. It was around 11:30 on a Tuesday afternoon. Not crowded. I was seated promptly and the waitress asked if I had been in before — I had not. She welcomed me and thanked me for choosing Front Porch. She brought a corn muffin and asked what I would like to drink. She brought the tea promptly and then told me their menu of the day. Meatloaf, fried chicken, liver and onions. I went with the fried chicken with mashed potatoes, collards, black eyed peas. They also had squash, mac & cheese, broccoli casserole and maybe a couple more that I can’t remember. The potatoes were meh so next time, I’ll go with the broccoli casserole or mac & cheese. The collards were very tasty. I ended with a quick bite(or two) of cobbler. All for $ 9. Not bad. I would like to see the menu. Even if it’s on a chalkboard or something because I know it changes often, if not daily. Also, a bit of music would have been good because I think the three tables in the room I was in were all trying not to talk. I saw a speaker and possibly someone just forgot to turn it on. Not sure what type of music would seem right so maybe that is why there wasn’t any. It really does look like grandma’s house from the tables to the walls. Everything. It’s a good little restaurant and ambiance for some southern food.

After reading all the reviews(including the 1 bad one), we decided to stop in and try this place!!! Everyone is right, this place has EXCELLENT food… It doesn’t seat many people and the turnover is not very fast BUT… Once you are seated, you kinda get the jest of the way the place operates… There is no menus… Yr waitperson will tell you what they have… Sure, you have to wait a lil longer than most places but I really didn’t see where it was a problem… Everything came out, hot right from oven… The veggies tasted fresh and the pork chops were to die for… A huge perfectly cooked pork chop with some of the best white peppercorn gravy I’ve ever had… They served very good sized portions… And for dessert, they had homemade peach cobbler straight from the oven… It was great!!! The place is very clean… All of the staff seamed to be very nice and helpful… I did notice that it is mostly an older crowd but we didn’t mind at all… They also serve dinner a couple nights a week… Dinner is all you can eat!!! The dinner a lil more pricey though… It’s $ 16.95 but, I’ve spent more in other restaurants and at least here, I KNOW that ALL the food is excellent!!! I think everyone should come by and try this place!!! Besides, wouldn’t you rather help out a small business like this than a corporate one? I know, I would !!!

Saw the great reviews on Unilocal and decided to eat here for Valentines dinner last night. So glad that we did! Front porch was very much like going home to Mom’s for dinner. The food was delicious and everyone was so warm and welcoming. Even the other diners were all pleasant and almost like family. Just like a family dinner, there was plenty of food and unlimited portions brought out. From a list of tempting choices you get to choose 2 meats and 4 sides all very delicious, plus dessert! We ordered fried chicken and meat loaf, mashed potatoes with gravy, mac n cheese, sweet glazed carrots, and corn soufflé! Comfort food for sure and everything was FRESH homemade, not frozen or from a can! Dessert topped us off with apple cobbler and a chocolate soufflé! We enjoyed dinner and the overall experience. We will definitely be back!

My wife and I stopped in for the first time and were pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious and made you feel like you were really in the south. The portions were huge and plentiful. I wish more restaurants were like this nowadays instead of cookie cutter chains. We’ll be back!

I have eaten at Front Porch 2 times now and it is better every time. It says a lot when you arrive at a Restraunt and the owner is their to open the door an greet you. The food is like eating at grandmas house without the family drama. I love this place and will visit many more times. The menu changes but it is all yummy home cooking. The only constructive criticism I can give is they need more table and parking but still worth the wait.

Best lunch experience I have had in years! Yummy food, good value, attentive staff and nice owner. The owner met us at the door and seated us. The restaurant is broken down into rooms(historic house) and we had a room to ourselves. They change the menu daily so the server read us our options. You choose a meat and three sides. We had the Salisbury steak,(best I have ever had) cauliflower au gratin(very good), veggie soup(fresh and all from scratch) and Mac and cheese(not my favorite but I only seem to enjoy my own recipe). It came with dessert, but I’m still too stuffed to eat it. All of this for less than a sub combo at Firehouse!

Simply wonderful. Ate here last night for the first time and I’m already planning on coming back. The meatloaf and fried chicken are mouth watering and the veggies are spot on. I went out on a limb and tried the sweet potatoes with peaches and wish I had brought some home with me.

Hands down the most delicious home style food I’ve EVER eaten, bar none. The service was amazing, the atmosphere was very inviting and comfortable, and most importantly the food was hot, fresh, and mouth watering. For the price, you get ALL you can eat, and the staff has no problem hooking you up with to-go boxes. I will be back! A+!!!

Stopped in last night after a Unilocal recommendation. Could not be happier with our choice. What a great little location and nice, efficient staff. I loved the fact we were greeted warmly at the door as if we were being welcomed into someone’s home for dinner. Comfort food, lovingly prepared. Delicious crispy-skinned fried chicken, creamy mac n cheese, sugary sweet potatoes with apples — we left with pudgy bellies and smiles on our faces.

Dined at Front Porch for dinner tonight. Great food. Excellent service. Love supporting small businesses. You should really give it a try. Check Facebook for the menu. It changes daily.

My brother discovered this lovely restaurant and we went there for dinner last night. The Front Porch is located in a beautifully restored Civil War era residence at 2940 Dallas Street in the heart of Kennesaw, GA. Dinner was served«family style» with a broad range of entrees(meat loaf, fried chicken, pork chops etc.) and vegetables(mashed potatoes, Crowder peas, some kind of great stewed carrots, sweet potatoes WITH peaches, and more… and more…). It was«all you can eat» and they meant it. Our great server came back multiple times to see if we could handle another bowlful of ANYTHING! Every bit of it was delicious, right down to the warm Apple Cobbler that I should not have had. The meat loaf, a particular favorite of mine, was some of the best I have ever had. And that includes my Mom’s and my Aunt Betty’s. The service was attentive and friendly. We could not have been made to feel more welcome or valued as a customer. We will be back to this fine place, often, and I recommend that you give it a try ASAP.

The Front Porch is one of my favorite places for lunch! I have been eating here almost every week since it opened. Southern Style comfort food that reminds me a lot of my mother’s and grandmother’s cooking. The owners, Bill and Debi, are very friendly and always make you feel at home. It’s such a good change of pace from fast food/chain restaurants! I really enjoy how the menu changes from day to day and they add new dishes on a regular basis. I can honestly say I have never been served a dish here that did not taste great!

April and I are always looking for a unique locally-owned place to eat, and when I heard about this, looked it up, seemed like just our thing. We headed there last night, got there around 7:15, they close at 8. There was music being played out in the front yard, there were lots of folks there, even Jeff Foxworthy and his wife. We were immediately seated with a nice view of the front door. Food was traditional Southern: fried chicken, smothered pork chops, veggies. It’s family-style, all you can can eat, just like The Dillard House and Dan’l Boone Inn in Boone, NC. I thought the service was great, the food wasn’t amazing, but was good, and the atmosphere was unique, like eating in someone’s house. I’m a huge fan of places like this really. The owner and his wife made the rounds to check on people, and you could tell they really cared, and that makes a huge difference to me. We’ll definitely be back with friends.

Came here for lunch on a Tuesday at 1:15 thinking the lunch rush would be winding down. First, there was no where to be seated. There are only 8 tables that mostly seat large parties. All the tables were full with elderly folks who were lingering after their meal and showed no courtesy for the folks standing up waiting to be seated. Eventually, people cleared out and 6 tables sat dirty while the inefficient and clearly stressed wait staff took an eternity to clear the tables. The owner or manager(not sure) strolled by countless times offering her apologies for the wait but never helped clear the tables. After 25 minutes we were seated while the party behind us was told to wait outside so the staff would have more room to clear the tables… are you kidding me? Wow! The food was just ok — nothing I had was worth the wait. Lunch serves 1 meat and 3 sides with cornbread, iced tea and dessert included in the price. I had smothered chicken which was nothing more than a chicken breast cooked in white gravy… the meat was mushy. I also had the squash with onions and green beans. The squash was bland and overcooked. The green beans had good flavor but were also very soggy. The fried green tomatoes were good. My husband had friend chicken, which he liked. He also had mac and cheese which I tasted, and liked, and the field peas and fried green tomatoes. We were informed that the peach cobbler was gone but a fresh batch was almost ready. We were over 1 hour invested in «lunch» and declined the dessert so I can’t comment on it. The concept and location are great. But, management needs to hire(or train) more staff or roll up their own sleeves and help them out. Overall, the food was 3 stars but I’m subtracting a star for the unacceptable wait time and having to watch a stressed out staff scurry around with furrowed brows.

Incredible homestyle southern food – it’s the real deal! This restaurant looks and feels like someone’s old southern home with the big wrap around porch, old wooden floors and GOOD home cooked southern menu. It’s owned by a local couple and they have the right folks in the kitchen making the food. If there’s anyone in there who is not a true southerner themselves, I’d be surprised. You order a few meats, veggies/sides, and it comes with drink refills, cornbread, and dessert. Everything is fresh and homemade. I’ve had the Salisbury steak, meatloaf, fried chicken, greens, cabbage, macaroni and cheese, yams, and cobblers. Everything has been good. If I lived a little closer, I’d go here instead of cooking during the week. They have a different menu daily. We have taken family here on occasions and our guests always rave about the experience. It’s downtown Kennesaw’s best!

Front Porch is great! I absolutely LOVE that it’s an old house turned into a restaurant. It makes you feel like you’re being welcomed into someone’s home for dinner. Heck, we literally WERE welcomed in for dinner. The owner(Bill) was sitting on the rocking chair out front, greeted us, and opened the door to let us into«his home.» The dinner menu changes every day, so there aren’t any printed menus. However, our server(Joe) patiently listed the night’s choices. We were to pick 2 meats and 4 sides. We ended up with the fried chicken, meatloaf, broccoli & rice casserole, honey-laced carrots, and mashed potatoes with brown gravy. Everything was delicious! LOVED the fried chicken. It’s seasoned simply but well so that there’s some taste but not too much. Dessert was included, a warm apple cobbler. Also tasty, wishing I had enough room to finish everything! The best part is that it’s all you can eat. Want more chicken? Just ask! The night I came in, there was a bad storm, and the lights went out. Obviously, this isn’t anyone’s fault, but Bill and Joe kept coming in to check on us, making sure we’re all right in the dark.(Eventually, the lights did pop back on.) I really appreciated how they made us feel at home, taking care of us, joking around, making the atmosphere feel very comfortable. Going to Front Porch is seriously like going to a good ol’ southern home, enjoying a nicely cooked southern-style meal, and being served with the best southern hospitality.

Ok… I wrote a rather lengthy review last night, but I’ve decided to keep it short. The ambiance was charming, the service wonderful, but the food could have been much, much better. Chalk it up to only being open for two months. According to the owner, they should be getting their beer and wine license this summer. We’ll go back and try it again once that happens and, hopefully, after they’ve worked out the kinks.

Sometimes, I like to get all wild and crazy and really live life on the edge by asking a friend to pick where we go for dinner WITHOUTCHECKING UnilocalFIRST! I know, crazy, right?! Anyway, friend did really, really, really good in selecting Front Porch for dinner, with the only guidance from me being«I want to go some place for dinner that I couldn’t go to in another state.» I was supremely stressed out on arrival from navigating the truly horrific Friday night traffic on I-75, but all that angst melted away when I opened the door at this little gem in Kennesaw. The building is historic(huge points already from my history nerd self), and beautifully restored, with historically appropriate finishes and furnishings, but done in a way that’s welcoming and bright, rather than musty and old. However, it was the fantastic service that really made the memory of the traffic stress fade quickly. We were warmly greeted by one of the owners, who directed us to a table in the corner, and our server quickly came over to take our drink orders and explain the concept to us. Neither of us had been before, so we weren’t sure what to expect, but our great server quickly explained that it was family style, and you ordered for your table, and that they would bring out refills of anything we wanted more of. He brought us our drinks, and then went through that day’s menu of all the meats and sides they prepare fresh each day. Though we got there only 30 minutes before closing, they had at least five different meats and nearly a dozen sides still available to select from. For your table, you get to pick two meats and four sides, and each person’s dinner also comes with a drink and dessert. From the selection, we decided on the country fried steak, fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, squash and onions, collard greens, and broccoli and rice casserole. Our meals also came with very good cornbread muffins, and finished with vintage tea cups full of the most delicious, homemade warm apple crisp, made with real apples(none of that canned pie filling here). The amount of food for two people was ridiculous, and everything was just really good, in the way good, homemade Southern cooking is. If I had to pick highlights, I would say the broccoli and rice casserole was a standout, with big florets of fresh broccoli and lots of melted cheese, as was the fried chicken, which was very moist and every so lightly breaded. Since it was so much food, and they don’t have a printed menu, we really weren’t sure how much this delicious dining experience was going to cost, and we were in disbelief when we got the check and our total for two was just over $ 30 with tax! While the charming atmosphere and delicious food here is alone reason to come, it was the service that really puts this place at five stars. From one of the owners greeting us at the door, his wife(I think) checking in on us during our meal, and our incredibly polite and attentive server taking care of everything we needed during our meal, it was just one of the most welcoming dining experiences I’ve had in recent memory. I don’t get out to Kennesaw that often, but when I do, I’ll certainly be coming back to the Front Porch.
