Did not expect this to be as good as it was considering the waterside location and patio atmosphere… truly a gem! Awesome!!!

Great restaurant! Great food and atmosphere. I ended up taking my family here for my mothers birthday. The staff was extremely kind and helpful. We sat on the second floor overlooking the water. The waitress was extremely helpful and friendly. When I accidentally slipped about it being my mothers birthday, she casually wished her a happy birthday and then continued on her rounds.(which was great since she did not want anyone singing to her.) I ended up geting the lobster pie which was wonderful. It was a little pricey though at $ 31. However, I did get a full meal with a salad and baked potato. At the end of the meal, the waitress brought out a complementary slice of blueberry pie(it was to die for!). The total bill came to about 140 with 4 meals and 3 cocktails. Well worth it in my opinion.

We went there on 7÷13÷11 and it was an extremely hot day so we decided to sit outside upstairs. My husband and I had our son, his wife and two small boys with us. It was too hot on the side we were seated and we asked to move to the other, more breezy side. Our hostess refused, saying we were too many people. There were two empty tables there so that made no sense. The food was slow in coming out, very over priced and not very good. I had a ceasar salad for $ 16.50 and it was not good at all. We would never go back nor would I ever recommend this place

Went there with a group of 12. The hostess came out to inform us that the kitchen was a little crazy and the chief did not want to take on more orders. Really? A place that in a few months will be dying for people to come to its establishment to spend plenty of $$$$

The lobster rolls were a bit light on the lobster but heavy on the price. Life lesson: Always remember to ask what the«market price» is before ordering.

I can’t speak for the hotel, but I did have a spectacular dinner here. Our waitress was a bit slow and forgot a few things, but that really added to the charm. This place feels like you’re walking into someones’ overly-decorated nautical-themed living room. With low ceilings and walls plastered with kitschy sea memorabilia, I fell in love with its cozy, family-style. And the food, while far from ‘gourmet’, was excellent and clearly made with love. The clam chowder was out of this world, and I devoured the sweet potato fries and lazy lobster. Dessert was pretty boring, but I was full from dinner anyhow. I would recommend eating here for the views, the straight-forward good food, and the home-style experience.

The two stars is for the atmosphere ONLY, which was classic Maine, or at least classic coastal New England seafood restaurant, complete with a bunch of nautical and beachy décor and tanks of live lobsters. The food was absolutely nothing special, unless you love fried food, in which case this is the place to pay top dollar for a heart attack later in life. The menu is somehow almost entirely fried, battered, buttered, or crispy and golden. If I wanted to have a plate of delicious tasting fried stuff, I would go to McDonald’s and pay $ 3, but that is just me, I know others feel differently. I had a caesar salad that was the size of an entire bag of lettuce. It was decent as caesar salads go, and certainly big enough, but seriously, a salad for $ 10.95(no meat on top)?? Even top notch restaurants charge less than that. It was ridiculous. So I decided to at least try to get a deal somehow, which I accomplished by getting the salad with shrimp(brings the price up to a whopping $ 18.95) and asking for cocktail sauce. That way I got a shrimp cocktail for $ 3 cheaper than if I had ordered the appetizer separately, which is the same number of shrimp. I went with 5 other people and none of them thought the food was very good. If I hadn’t been specifically trying to order something«cheap», this would have been over $ 30 for lunch for one person — inappropriately expensive in my opinion even for a seasonal place like this where you’re paying a premium for location.

A review of the hotel — super friendly check-in staff, though the lady was pretty cranky. Good think we had reservations! The room we were in(26) was pretty spartan with a double bed that turns you into a human taco when you lie on it. I almost couldn’t get out. There’s TV, wifi, and a bathroom. What else do you need? $ 105 a night for the high season in the center of Kennebunkport? HECKYES.

This may come off a bit harsh giving The Landing a 3 star review, but I had some niggling issues with it and there were comparable places nearby that I would recommend above it. I was traveling on business and went here for a rather large dinner. The atmosphere here is good, and the bartender was friendly. Good local Maine beers were to be had, which was a big plus. The menu sticks to strengths of the area, but about half of it is fried food, and I found Federal Jack’s across the bridge better for that. I had a bowl of clam chowder, some mussels, and a plate of seafood marinara. The highlight of the meal was the chowder. Clams were the centerpiece of the soup rather than cream and filler. A week in New England and this was the best chowder I was privy to. The seafood marinara was tasty, though despite a nearly $ 30 price tag, the scallops seemed a bit overcooked. The waitress who served us was very good, and was definitely a credit to the establishment. If I went back, however, it’d be for the chowder.

If you like a traditional Maine baked stuffed lobster, this is the place to go!!! The buttery Ritz cracker and scallop stuffing tastes just like a baked stuffed lobster should taste! They’ve brightened up the interior of the restaurant with new tables and chairs, and the setting on the river is as lovely as always.
