Can’t wait to return! Had incredible meals here over Memorial Day weekend. Husband had the Austrian Bauernschmaus which was 4 different types of meats, each one delicious. I had the Chicken Paprikash, which was phenomenal. The fried spaetzel went perfectly with it. We have eaten here under both previous owners and I’d have to say this was the best. When you add in the drive through beautiful country and farmland, as well as the historical background of the building and town, it is a great all around experience. There is also outside dining available, which would be great to take advantage of during good weather.

My boyfriend and I stopped here on our way to take a hike at Hawk Mountain. It was recommended by a friend of my boyfriend, who lives in the area. It is a great little place! They serve German food and have an extensive list of beers and imported scotch, among other things. We sat at the bar which has very comfortable seating and a nice atmosphere. I had a special with three different kinds of sausages, spätzle, and sour kraut. My boyfriend had the pork schnitzel, red cabbage, and spätzle. They serve very generous portions… we were both very satisfied. Both dishes were exceptionally delicious and authentic. The servers are very warm, friendly, and knowledgeable. Overall, a great place to enjoy German dishes and a nice cold beer. We will definitely be returning!

What a wonderful dinner! Our party of 4 had a 6:30 reservation tonight. Got there a little early but were seated immediately. Full bar and a nice craft beer selection. Two of us had the crab bisque which was loaded with crab and delicious. For dinner our table had sauerbraten, Jagerschnitzel, and chicken cordon bleu. They were all great along with the delicious sides of spätzle and red cabbage. We topped it off with Black Forest cake and pashka. Service was exceptional, very attentive and friendly but didn’t rush us. I’m already looking forward to going back to try something else!

We ate here with a party of six on 2⁄14. The service friendly and food was excellent. My wife and I had the sauerbraten and it was authentic and delicious. Nice selection of speciality drinks and beer. Homemade style desserts were bonus. Will definitely eat here again.

Excellent food and good service. Five adults ate here on a Friday night. We were seated immediately and our drink orders were taken promptly. Wide range of craft beers were offered. We ordered two appetizers; steamed mussels from the menu and a special: n stuffed mushrooms. The 4 stuffed mushrooms were OK. The steamed mussels were perfectly cooked and the marinara sauce was superb. Got more mussels than expected, making up for the skimpy amount of mushrooms. Mussels/sauce would rank with some of the best I’ve had. My wife was quite happy with the stuffed crab shells she ordered. The mashed potatoes were OK; they were plain with nothing to dress them with but the waitress brought us butter upon request. The mixed vegetables were not particular notable; looked like frozen vegetables well seasoned but with nothing particularly added. I got the ½ duck special. It came with mashed potatoes and vegetables but I asked for just potatoes and got 2 servings on my plate. I got 2 duck legs and thighs with skin on and chose the mixed berry sauce. The duck was superb! It was perfectly cooked. I estimate that there was 9 – 10 ounces of actual meat. The real star of my meal, however, was the mixed berry sauce(strawberries, blue berries, rasberries). I don’t usually value the sauces people put on meat but this sauce was outstanding both when eaten separately and as a major complement to the duck. I’d definitely recommend eating here; it’s located out in the country but well worth the trip. There was plenty of space the night we were there but I would recommend calling ahead for reservations.

I had to give one star so I could, to do my review. Six of us had reservations Saturday August 8th at 7:30. We arrived to find the restaurant closed. My husband found a half ass sign on the door stating closed for a few days. They had my phone number, they should have contacted us about the closing. We drove almost an hour to get here. Will not ever return to this restaurant. This is no way to treat future customers.

My family and i had reservations for 6pm and while walking in, were told by either a server out for a cigarette break or someone from the kitchen staff that they stop serving food at 6pm. If I could give them no stars I would. Very disappointing considering we drove 30 minutes to get here! From the looks of the outside it didn’t even look like a restaurant — looked more like someone’s dilapidated house, there was debris all over the porch. Went inside to use the restroom, there was no one around to even ask about our reservation. There were about 5 tables, food was being served. No one was tending bar. I’m really not sure how they were voted best restaurant on opentable for 2014 and 2015! This place was a dump! Thumbs down!!!

Went with my wife and another couple, sat at the bar first for a drink and was asked do we have reservations, said no that we we’re stopping to have a couple of drinks and a couple of apps, we were then told that we would have to get a table because the bar was reserved for 6 people, I said I have been in the beer industry for 24 years and been to numerous establishments and never heard of reserving the bar seats for people who were not there and were not coming in till another ½ hour. WOW, I wonder if you have to reserve the restrooms.

We love this place! We stumbled on it one day after hiking in Albany Township, and lo and behold, my husband’s lengthy search for the perfect hamburger came to an end here! He ordered the mushroom and Swiss burger, and it had just the flavor, just the texture, just that special something that had been eluding him. The fries were great, too. We’ve been back several times since, and the service has always been excellent. The waitstaff and owners are pleasant to talk with, and when I mentioned I had to eat gluten-free, they had no problems helping me choose a safe dinner. I’ve had the burger without a bun, and I also tried the chicken paprikash(with fries instead of spaetzle), and it was delicious! I would love to get back there when we’re feeling a little more flush, to try some of the more expensive European specialties. We kept saying we wished our parents were still alive, because they would love this place. My husband enjoyed their reuben sandwich the time he tried it, and twice now we’ve shared the pashka dessert between us. It’s yummy, and just the right size to share after a good-sized meal. As for drinks, I enjoyed two of the white wines, at different times, and my husband very much enjoyed the Franziskaner beer recommended by Robert, our waiter the first time we visited. He has ordered it twice since, because it goes so well with the food. And then there’s the music. Admittedly, there’s room for a broad difference of opinion on that count. For the most part, we felt the Austrian-style oompah-type music played quietly in the background added to the ambience and the feeling of being a little bit outside of normal life, but sometimes the songs with the high female vocals were a bit much. Maybe that’s the sort of thing that makes a place more memorable, though, and fun to tell people about. A final note: I lived in Albany Township in my childhood, and love its stunning yet homely beauty. I was therefore very pleased to find the works of local landscape artist Jonathan Bond hanging on the walls. I was already familiar with some of the paintings hanging there, and enjoyed walking around(as it wasn’t a full house when we were there) and looking at his work. I would love to see more of his portrayals of the rolling hills and mountain-backed vistas that we drive out there to see. Maybe this place is not for everyone. It’s not a cheap burger or pizza joint, but a nice restaurant that can provide a very satisfying culinary experience, and some relaxing time away from the hassles of modern life. If you go there with an appetite and a capacity for bemusement, you will not be disappointed!

First time going to this restaurant. Wife and I were excited to try this place after reading the review in the paper and the reviews on Unilocal.Get to the restaurant at 7pm on a Thursday night. Walk in with a hunger and ready to try out this“diamond in the rough”. We were met at the bar and were told they were not taking any more guests that night!!! What!!! We just drove 20 mins and now a 20 mins drive back to find a restaurant that is serving people. Thanks, but we will NEVER come back to try this restaurant!

Looks can be deceiving. This place is a diamond in the rough. From the outside, it looks like an old house in disrepair. You step inside and pass through a nice bar area to a modest dining space. We smelled cigarette smoke in the bar area but not sure if it was a patron or coming from the kitchen… the smell went away once we were seated in the dining room. I noticed two dining rooms, and thought what a great space the side dining room would be for a gathering of 25 or so. A guy named Mark«Elegant Music by Mark» from Allentown was there playing guitar and piano… beautiful music, plays anything from jazz, classical, musicals, salsa, etc. Very talented musician, which is why I shared his contact info. Highly recommend him for holiday parties. He came up to our table playing his guitar and asked if we had any favorites. Very classy! The waitress, Sam, was awesome-very cheery, professional, and attentive. We were the first diners this evening, so it was quiet, but about five other parties showed up after us. The kitchen noise could be heard but it was not disturbing, and you are in an old house so what do you expect. Our appetizers and meals came out fairly quickly. We had steamed clams that were fresh and tasty, and the cabbage with sausage soup that had delicious flavor. Warm sliced bread, including a marble bread was brought to the table along with oil for dipping. We asked for butter instead but the oil was fine too. The salad was fresh with delicious chunky blue cheese dressing. Our entrees included a delicate, beautifully breaded veal wienerschnitzel(awesome-you can hear them pounding meat in the kitchen), hungarian goulash(shredded beef chunks with spaetzle) which was hearty and satisfying like comfort food; pecan-crusted trout, fresh and delicious but could have spared the pecans. Sides included fresh, steamed broccoli, parsley potatoes, warm German potato salad, and cucumber salad. Everything was tasty. We prefer German potato salad cold or room temp. which is a North German tradition. Still, it had decent flavor with bacon. Our favorite recipe has more onion and beef stock added for flavor. For dessert we had pashka, a Russian cheesecake concoction with fresh berries on top. It was delicious, not too sweet, just perfect. The menu is vast and I can’t help but think if they narrowed it down to ten choices, they could focus more on fresh ingredients and making the meal portions slightly larger. Portions were perfect but it was good food, so i could have eaten a tad more. Had the feeling that things like the spaetzle and beef as well as the potato salad are made in huge batches… Possibly boxed spaetzle? It was still good but of all the food we had, these could use the most perfecting. The beef seemed to have a tomato base, whereas I think of goulash as needing a beef stock flavor. I liked this restaurant and its familiar recipes from my German upbringing. I would recommend it to friends and I would gladly return. If the outside of the house were spruced up a bit, it would draw more attention from passersby.

First time trying this place. No expectations except for good German food. prices were high $ 11 – 26 for entrees. Cheesteaks were $ 12. Really? Why are you serving cheesesteaks in a German/Bavarian place anyway? We were greeted by a 9 year old hostess and at first was cute but realized her parents own the place and is working there. She was somewhat on her game but she’s 9 and a bit rough around the edges. The entire experience was rushed and felt inexperienced. from the child hostess to the unprofessional waitstaff discussing customers and things that should be discussed elswhere not in front of customers. They were overly attentive, almost waiting by you to take your plate. No time to sit and just chat at the table. The food was decent but worth the prices. I had chicken paprikash which was tasty but a bit overdone. my partner had spinach spaetzel with blue cheese. It was a bit bland but some salt helped. drinks were small and soda was flat. makes me wonder if their soda machines need a cleaning. One other suggestion would be to get a swinging door for the kitchen. the noise was crazy loud and disruptive to the place.

Outstanding food and excellent service! We decided to try this as we were meeting family who live not far from here. I have never been so pleasantly surprised! The location is a bit remote, out in the middle of farm country, but what an amazing choice! The appetizers were very generous. Our sampling was the bacon wrapped scallops and the crabmeat stuffed mushrooms. Very fresh and shareable sizes. The main courses were outstanding in flavor and size. Our group had a little of everything and everyone was thrilled with their choices. The service was above and beyond any we have encountered in recent memory. I would highly recommend it and we will be back, even if it is a 40 mile journey.

Kassler Rippchen was soooo good and the spaetzle was yummy! Service was great — table was not ready when we arrived but only because the part before us lingered. No big deal and we were seated as promptly as possible. Paskha was delicious as was the apple strudel — we will be back!

Do not let the outside appearance of the Stoney Inn turn you away. we dined there back in October and had an excellent experience. We tried the rahmschnitzel and the jaeger schnitzel and both were very good! We had drinks and appetizers so the longer prep time did not affect our evening. The staff was friendly and attentive. We walked away raving. Try it!

Traditional Bavarian fare in an original 19th century hotel/pub. The food is excellent as long as you stick to the traditional dishes(my wife once ordered the shrimp scampi and was quite disappointed, but who orders scampi at a Bavarian restaurant). It’s a bit pricey for a local place, but considering what’s available in this area, it’s a nice treat once and a while. The chicken paprikash and saurbrauten are both excellent and served with homemade spatzel. The husband cooks and runs the kitchen while his wife runs the bar & dining room. She’s a bit surly, so don’t piss her off. Once a waitress brought out the wrong order and when we told her she became flushed with fear and begged us not to tell the old woman. It’s fun to watch her crank out the attitude, just as long as your not on the receiving end of it.

This«hotel» is primarily an Austrian-American restaurant. The décor isn’t much to write home about, but the food is fun and tasty. Serving mostly Austrian fare, but also generic american for the less adventuresome, it feels a little over-priced. We tried and liked their chicken paprikash and beef goulash. The couple who run it are from Austria, so you’re getting the real deal. Inexplicably, on some week-nights they have«wing night,» serving cheap, but good buffalo wings. They are also very baby friendly.
