$ 3.50 for the tacos was a great deal. The brisket was amazing as well very tender and maybe just needed a squeeze of lime juice but still it was sooooooo tender. It could give lengua a run for its money. We missed happy hour by a few minutes, but we did grab some drinks. The mango margarita was really tasty, and not lacking in the tequila. They also had a great beer list. We went @630 on a friday night to just like any good place would be It was noisy, crowded and cramped, but had a great vibe to it that we really enjoyed. Also the staff was great especially for being so busy!

Love this place! We used to be regulars for taco Tuesday for lunch. I’ve missed it! The prices have gone up to $ 3 for the taco Tuesday special, but still a good price. I recommend the blue demon! So much flavor in their tacos!

This is hands down the best Mexican food in all of the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. In fact, the Califa Burrito(a California burrito, be sure to get a side of the special Baja sauce) with a side of chips and queso was one of the best Mexican meals I’ve ever had, ANYWHERE. Normally, that statement may not be a very big deal. But when you consider I spent 6 years in San Diego — home to some of the best Mexican flood on the planet — the statement holds a lot more weight. In addition to the delicious food, the service was great. The manager, Katie, and the rest of the staff were extremely friendly and catered to all my needs. Quality food and quality service, what more can you ask for? What are you waiting for? Go eat at Funky Baja!

We were looking for somewhere laid back to grab a few beers & a mid-afternoon snack & the Funky Baja Cantina was definitely a good choice for exactly that. The beer was cold, the queso/chips were delicious & our bartender Connie was friendly & fun. She was also great about giving us some tips for other places in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area which I look forward to checking out over the next couple of days. Would absolutely return again to try some more of their food; there were some awesome looking tacos options on the menu!

I’m a regular here and of course I always get their margaritas!!! Best margaritas in town. Their dirty wings which are half hot and half ranch are also ridiculously addictive. We always get great service from Daniel and Carlos. Always a fun place to grabs drinks and a quick bite. Burgers are also a strong point for this spot.

They have some really good fish tacos and margaritas, other than that it’s like any other Mexican place that is up and down 1709. I would use the place for how close is to how my house rather than the quality of their food.

We used to frequent this little spot quite often. Their food was always tasty. Service was always a little lacking, but hey, it’s a dive-bar, what do you expect? We went last weekend and got the same things as usual, So-Cal Fries, 2 Fishman Tacos, and a Taco Salad. Their Carne Asada was a joke this time. It tasted as if it had been microwaved and they usually serve us with a couple little plates, but not this time. We had to fend for ourselves. They didn’t use Mexican Crema, they used Sour Cream instead and there’s a huge difference. Thumbs down for the So-Cal Fries that used to ROCK. The wife’s salad had the same, bland carne asada in it and she didn’t finish it because of the lack of flavor. My fishman tacos were about the same flavor-wise, but they were definitely smaller than they used to be. All totaled, our bill was higher and the food was much much worse and smaller portions. I wonder what’s happened to this place. Whatever it is, please change back!

What the heck happened to Funky Baja’s? Marginal food, lousy service and the kitchen closes at 9:00 on a Saturday night. Find another spot.

Great food, wait staff, and all around good experience. When friends come in town take them here and they love it. They have a new item on the menu, Funky Grilled Cheese that has brisket on sour dough bread and it’s Amazing. Highly recommend this place for good time and great atmosphere!

Been a while since I’ve been here and things different. Seems cleaned up and aesthetics better but worse where it counts. The guacamole had a lot more kick so I OK with but my wife hated. The normally quick tacos took 20 min to get there and crappy lettuce in the lettuce wrap(it fell apart). Our waitress was really occupied with something other than checking on us so had empty tea glass, ran out of chips and couldn’t pay to leave. It a shame, I used to love this place.

This place has gone way downhill. Food was ok but staff were rude and the service was horrible. Bartenders were drinking behind bar and the scene seemed out of control. Saw several people who should have been flagged still getting served who later became sloppy drunk. Stay away

This place was absolutely great when they first opened… unfortunately, they have gone a bit downhill in the past couple of years. Their tacos are still really good, but they have raised prices and eliminated several of the best items from their menu recently. I would have ranked at least 4, if not 5 stars in the first year they were open, but competition in the area plus the dropping of some menu items and the raising of prices dropped it to a 3(still really good tacos though). The Averno burger(basically a plain burger covered in habenero and Oaxaca cheese) and the best Cuban Sandwich around have been eliminated and the tacos are now about $ 4 apiece. That is definitely not expensive if you are only having one or two, but considering they have just doubled the price over the past couple of years and not made any changes to the tacos has just put us off a bit. We still go there… but just less frequently(I mean, where else can you get a great-tasting calamari taco? nowhere). It is a decent place to watch the game or have a few cold beers, but there is more competition in that area over the past couple of years and Funky Baja’s is just a slightly better alternative than the majority. Highlights: The SoCal Fries, calamari taco. Lowlights: No more cuban sandwich? That was the best thing on the menu.

Oh my, on a good cook day, the battered fish tacos are SIK! I love this place and could eat here or take out every week and be very satisfied. They are known for their great burgers, but honestly, everything that I, my family or friends have eaten here, loved all of it. I absolutely go out of my way to recommend this place.

Labor Day lunch! It’s a pretty chill atmosphere. It’s not too loud nor too packed. There’s music playing in the background, TVs set up around the restaurant, and a lot of cool items hung up on the walls. There’s also outdoor seating. All of the food we got was okay… The only thing my boyfriend didn’t like was the rice the used in his Mistico burrito, but the steak and shrimp made up for it. I had the Psych burrito and I thought it was great. The briskrt in it was tender and juicy and all of the flavors worked out great together. Now, onto the bacon cheeseburger, I felt like it was somewhat overpriced… $ 6.50. It doesn’t mention the fries were an extra $ 2. $ 8.50 for burger and fries is around what you’d normally pay at certain bars and restaurants, however there are other places where you can get both for a couple bucks cheaper. Overall thoughts on the burger was okay, the patty was a bit dry and not as juicy(probably due to it being thick and they really had to cook it through). The onion rings and so cal fries were bomb dot com! It’s a bar type atmosphere and the bar type appetizers are great. If you’re looking for a chill little bar in the area with great appetizers, then this is the place to go. If you’re looking for actual entrees to eat, well that all depends on what you want… If you want burritos and tacos, I say go for it. If you’re looking for a gourmet type burger, I’d probably say there are better places out there. Keep calm and have fun eating.

Out there last Tuesday with a friend for dinner – super loud environment so don’t go if you’re hoping to have a private conversation. Food was not nearly as impressive as I was hoping for – I tried 3 different tacos and felt kind of ‘meh’ about all of them. Saving them from a lower star rating – service was super attentive and quick – plus I mentioned what a sucky day I was having to the waitress when ordering and I“m pretty sure they gave me double the booze in margarita at no cost. Which makes EVERYONE pretty awesome in my book! Will definitely return for drinks, but eating beforehand next time!

It has been nearly a year since we are at Funky Baja so we gave it another try. After the last 2 visits I honestly did not think it would remain open for long. I am happy to say the food was excellent and the service much improved . The SoCal fries were great as ever and my Fisherman taco was once again loaded to overflowing. It’s a lesson in not giving up on a place you liked over the last few years. We shall return !

Co-worker suggested this place and it’s «$ 2 Taco Tuesdays», which are now $ 2.50 ea. Still a BARGAIN! 2 tacos, chips/salsa and a diet coke and you’re out the door for under $ 10. Not bad(think the chips/salsa was on my co-worker’s bill). Service was great, tacos were excellent. Great little place to have lunch. I’ll be back. Parking can get tight when they are busy.

So I googled funky baja looking for their menu since their website was down and got the Unilocal page. I couldn’t believe all the bad reviews! I haven’t been in a few months but used to go a couple times a month. I was worried something changed but went anyway. All you negative posters are crazy! Were you expecting fine dining? This is a «hole in the wall» type place even though they are part of the baja grill family. $ 3 tacos. all of which are great btw. great margs and beer. Service is good. sometimes slow if its really busy but after a couple of drinks who cares? Bottom line is you can’t beat it. good food, drinks, sports on tv, loud atmosphere. Our dinner tonight was chips & queso, 3 tacos and a huge glass of wine for $ 20!!! And my favorite. the sign on the wall! All you negative peeps stay home and leave a table for me!
