They recently added kimchi to their menu and I love the new add. The prices have changed a little to keep up with the inflation but it’s still one of the more affordable places in the neighborhood. My favorite here is the bean curd in spicy sauce with a side of scallion pancake. My family and I visit at least once every month and are happy customers.

AHMAZZZINNNNG! My boyfriend and I couldn’t decide what to eat and after reading a few reviews we decided on Lucky Foo. Can I say this is the best thing I’ve ever eaten? Because it just might be. You have to get the knife cut noodles with meat sauce… its to die for! Best meal I’ve had in my life, for two, for $ 20??? Do yourself a favor and go eat some bomb-ass noodles!

Shan Xi style noodles! Very authentic! I would recommend you to have noodles only because they are truly delicious. Never ever go for any Americanized Chinese food…

The interior setting and atmosphere was very«basic» by any standard possible. I personally don’t mind it and I guess it adds to the restaurant’s character Or lack of character depends how u look at it. Anyways on to the food… we ordered fried dumplings for our app and spicy noodles plus meat/knife cut noodles and pork. The dumpling were done quite well to my surprise. They were steamed first then pan fried at the end and served with their soy vinegar sauce. The soups on the other hand, were very underwhelming. The broth barely had any flavor to it. In addition there wasn’t so much meat and way too much noodles and broth. My biggest disappointment of all was the tasteless broth!!! We finished the meal and paid at the counter. The prices also increased to being 8 $ a bowl of noodles which is still a decent deal. Oh and there’s a service charge too

The food here really hit home for me and always fulfill my cravings for some home cooked Yunnan food! I don’t mind the wait since you know the food is being freshly cooked and prepared. Worth the wait. Love the noodles here and the price is very reasonable especially given the amount of food you get.

Satiated my craving for handpull noodles. Finally, a place where I don’t have to travel all the way to Chinatown

Ordered Dan Dan handmade noodles and scallion pancake. Both were excellent, and I could tell each was made from scratch.

Very good noodle they served here, but no service at all and they charge service fee.

The food is great. I have never had to wait long. The meat in the soup dishes is tender, juicy, and fresh. Only order the hand-cut noodle dishes since they are to die for, figuratively, not literally. The owner, herself, told me not to order the non-noodle dishes because they are Americanized and you can order them anywhere. This hidden gem or diamond in the rough is very special and it helps raise the quality of food in Kearny.

It’s not easy finding an authentic Chinese restaurant around here, so i’m glad i found this one. Their noodles are really good: homemade, savory, and slightly chewy. And their dan dan noodles(spicy ground beef) are really tasty. The portion size is huge and made me full for most of the day. Things to keep in mind: — bring CASH — service is not spectacular. It’s a literal mom and pop shop so the lady who takes your order is also working on plating and serving and managing the front desk. — There is a service fee of $ 1 per person. The lady considers this the tip. At around $ 7/$ 8 for a huge bowl of noodles, this works out to be around 12−15% so i dont think it’s unreasonable. Even if you sit and just have a drink, someone is serving you water or tea. I’ve always stood by the idea that each patron should pay at least $ 1 per person for tip regardless of their overall total. If $ 1 per person for tip seems unreasonable to you, then you honestly should eat at home and serve yourself.

They probably do not have a lot of parking space but definitely you gotta go for their food! The price is cheap and the food is authentic! They handmade their noodles and the water is served in special water bottle.

One star is definitely a fair rating for this restaurant. The food is actually so-so comparing to other Chinese restaurant, no to mention their terrible service. I’ve been eating here for many times when I don’t want to cook. However, recently their service speed has become so slow that usually I have to wait for 40min-60min only for two rice noodles at noon in a regular weekday. The owner, also the only waiter is never sorry about the long waiting but always gives you a distant look when she tells you that you have to wait for 1 hour as if she doesn’t care if you want to wait or not. BTW, service fee and package/take-out fee are mandatory for ridiculous reasons. Won’t come back again! P. S. The reasons for its always being busy are that 1) the owners(only the husband back in the kitchen and wife in front) never hire the third person to provide customers quicker service. 2) there are more and more international students from China to study in NJIT and Rutgers. Most of them rent apartments in Kearny and Harrison without cars so that they don’t have many choice to eat inexpensive and better Chinese restaurants outside of the area in busy school days. Lucky foo has been becoming a school cafeteria for those students. so the owners don’t care about how bad their service is because there are always many students coming to eat!

Take out is phenomenal… Price is right and the food is on target as always. Highly recommend the hand cut noodle soups.

It is authentic enough. However the service speed/method of this place can get pretty frustrating at times. On a typical Tuesday night, a order to go for 2 has to take about an hour. This place does not do delivery and does not take orders over the phone. On a raining/snowing day, you have to personally visit the place to place an order. I don’t understand why the two owners wouldn’t hire a third person to help out around the kitchen. It pays to reinvest some of the lucrative profit they have made off of the local Chinese student populations…

I was introduced to this restaurant by my old high school roomie who lived around here for a long time. Let me tell you… their homemade knife-sliced noodles are AMAZEBALLS. I finally found a legitimate Chinese restaurant somewhere close to where I live. Prices are cheap and reasonable and portion is big! You can’t go wrong with their signature noodles with meat sauce. The dish surely doesn’t sound good in English but in translation, it’s called fried sauce noodles or jia jian mien. I haven’t tried their rice dishes but eventually, I will be trying everything on the menu.

Wow ! I love this place. My friend introduced me to this place and I did not have high hopes for it. The place itself is not too fancy. It’s not your typical service… You order up front, the lady delivers your food, not much service involved but that’s how most Chinese restaurants are like. It gets packed pretty quickly during lunch time. The food is super cheap and you get a huge portion with it. I ordered scallion pancake and spicy beef soup. It was amazing. Coming from a Taiwanese person, these noodles are truly authentic and amazing !!! They are just the right spice! She gives you vinegar on the side, so it gives it this extra sour taste ! Everybody has to try this place ! I hope that this lady gets more business because she truly deserves it. Though it’s not your typical table service, the owner is very polite and nice !!

Best bowl of Chinese noodle soup I ever ate in my life. And I have eaten hundreds perhaps. Only 20 min drive from Hoboken in Kearny, NJ. Better than anywhere I’ve eaten in flushing which I have frequented dozens of times. Noodles handcut and made fresh to order, broth is superb. Soups are made with love and taste homemade and are so delicious!!! I got the handcut spicy meat sauce soup, steamed pork dumplings(hand made not greasy), scallion pancake, and my husband asked for a vegetable soup(to order, not on menu) which they generously made and was also delicious. Service was warm and kind. A great way to usher in the new year! I will be back soon!

My friend from Rutgers Newark campus recommended this place to me and finally got a chance to try it! Tried their Mi Xian, which is a kind of rice noodle, similar to the ones from my hometown and it was pretty decent. It was a huge noodle soup. The soup is very tasty and there is a lot of meat and everything.

Truly amazing noodles! I will never forget this meal. However, I wish the restaurant’s interior wasn’t so Spartan and slightly depressing, because the food is incredibly delicious. The noodle gods were smiling down on me as I slurped and chewed my way through the delicious bowl of spicy broth, meat and hand-cut, chewy noodles. It transcended any mere bowl of soup. It was a satisfying, warming and memorable experience. Highly recommended.
