New to town and wanted a pizza for dinner after a long day of moving and working. Like to have light cheese on our pizza, and very rarely does the pizzeria get it right. Gino’s got it all right! Definitely will be back to taste the rest of their fare! Also had a conversation with the staff, nice and friendly!

We drove to Kearney from Liberty to find our favorite restaurant was closed. Unilocal helped us scope out Gino’s. Now we have a new favorite in Kearney. Five of us tested everything on the table and we loved it all: veal parmesan, cheese ravioli, penne with Italian sausage and Sicilian sauce, and chicken Parmesan. The toasted ravioli and fried mushrooms rocked. It’s a family run business and we fully enjoyed the antics of Gino and his crew. We are excited to return for fried chicken Tuesday!

Have been here a few times. It’s a great little place for«Italian of the masses» I would prefer more garlic and spices but understand that won’t appeal to the meat and potato environment of the general public. All in all a great place !

Surprisingly very good! We had a wonderful meal. Took a little while to get food after we ordered but it was worth the wait. Owner was very involved and made sure our dining experience was a good one.

Referred by friends– excited for something local. Took advantage of a very rare evening of just myself and my sons to give it a try. Cute, cozy restaurant. Was told upon entering they were offering a condensed menu for Valentines weekend. Ok, I guess… Don’t know any better. Gentleman crooning a little Frank Sinatra, I knew there was singing– but I thought it was occasional– nope. All.meal.long. Loud! Sadly we saw the tune crooner more than our waitress. I guess she knew better than to hang around so We could not complain about the horrible mozzarella sticks(looked like BK chicken fries) soggy salads, all 3 dripping in dressing and paper thin steak so tough(Medium rare no less) my teenage son needed his moms help to cut. Server sure did appear quick to drop the check and immediately take our cc, only to come back to tell me she mis charged me for an item and now my bill, for an awful meal, was now even more expensive. Fabulous! So thoroughly disappointed in this restaurant that I will make a point to spend the extra money on gas to go into the city.

When it first opened several years ago, not sure what year but it’s been here a long time now, it was charming with well prepared food, not expensive, and decent service along with«Gino» the owner, singing along to his piped in Italian-American pop songs. Unfortunately the food and service have not kept pace with the times even though Gino is still singing. It seems to still be popular with locals, but there is no accounting for tastes. I hate to be negative, but the past few times we have been to Gino’s the service kept getting worse until our last visit, and our young waitress basically brought menus and immediately wanted us to order. She eventually brought tepid water, stale bread, and some less than shiny silver ware and napkin. We ordered basic fare as we hungry and it did come quickly, maybe too quickly. The salad was OK but the Gino’s favorite pasta combination dish was obviously not fresh, probably micro waved. Our waitress never returned except to give me the check. Sorry, I could have done better at a fast food joint. I doubt I’ll be returning again, which is sad as it used to be a good if not great local restaurant.

After dining here last night I have never been sicker from food. My friends warned me not to eat. I regret that I did. To also find out the lasagna is brought in frozen is very disappointing. I do not think I will return after learning most things are not made there that should be. I even learned to make lasagna when I was younger than 10 years old. Very disappointed. My family and I used to dine here weekly. I hope they will realize the food has gone down hill and will bounce back. It was fabulous when my family used to dine there years ago

Every time we visit Gino’s, we leave satisfied. The food is good and the bread unlimited. We usually start with their fried mushrooms, which are better than most and I get Pasta con Broccoli. I’ve never been disappointed. The main attraction, however, is the atmosphere. It is always attractive and is quite festively decorated for the holidays. The owner is as entertaining as he is attentive. As he passes through the dining room, he checks in with each diner. Periodically, he starts singing along with the ambient music. I like the personality he adds to the experience. It’s great for a date night.

My wife and kids ordered pizza. I had the steak and shrimp. The pizza tasted like it had been microwaved and the steak was bland and overcooked. Way too expensive for what was passed off as food.

Great place to eat, every time we go! Thanks George and family! And what an immaculate kitchen! If only you had chives for those potatoes!

I grew up in Kearney and had been to Gino’s a couple of times as a teenager, but my boyfriend and I decided to give it a try last night. It was, by far, better than I remember! Gino’s is a family-owned restaurant located on the historic main drag in Kearney. The place is a little small, but on this particular night they were not overly packed. The noise level was ok for me, but I could certainly see how it could get pretty noisy if they are very busy. Our service was fantastic. When we first sat down, we decided to order drinks. I wasn’t sure what I wanted, so the waitress made a suggestion of grape vodka with sierra mist. She said she had a customer who ordered it with every visit. I was hesitant, but it ended up being delicious! My date is a fan of a nice whiskey and ordered a Bulleit Bourbon. The waitress went to ask the owner if they had it. Gino came to our table and said that they did not have Bulleit, but they did have a 15-year-old bourbon he would open for him. It was brought in a little whiskey tasting glass and given a big thumbs-up. Dinner continued in the same fashion. The homemade mozzarella sticks were recommended to us by the waitress, and they were pretty good. Crisp and warm, and they came with a marinara sauce that I personally didn’t care for, but I’m not much of a fan of red sauce anyway. My boyfriend enjoyed it. For our meals, I ordered the chicken broccoli, and he the fettuccine alfredo with chicken. Both were fantastic! We followed dinner by sharing a slice of New York style cheesecake. Oh my. we were beyond full, but everything was so delicious. Imagine our surprise when the bill came, and our total was less than $ 50! We were only charged $ 5 for the whiskey, and he easily was given about three shots’ worth! Between the good food, the fair price, and the excellent atmosphere(Gino visited with us for quite some time, and wandered around the restaurant singing to his guests), I would definitely, HIGHLY recommend this place for a good Italian dinner!

The food is just average, not great. This was my first visit, not sure I would go back. The acoustics could be improved greatly. I could hear the conversations around me, but it was difficult to hear my date. The service was acceptable-she was polite-but she refilled drinks incorrectly. A diet soda was refilled with tea. Dining options in Kearney are very limited-drive to Liberty for more choices!

Excellent food, staff and service. Special diet needs? They accommodate! They bend over backwards to take care of you! They have an extensive wine and alcohol menu and if you frequent the restaurant they will bring in something special just for you! Italian food is awesome and American offerings are creative and very tasty! Prices are very reasonable and portions are large. Family friendly, kid friendly, or romantic dining for 2 ! We love this place!

Excellent! What a great find. Great staff and food. Started with fried cheese sticks. Hands down the best anywhere. I challenge you to find better. It literally melts in your mouth. My meal I had the chicken spedini(mogu style), best I have ever had. With a side of eggplant parmigiana. Total gem, will be going back shortly.

Unexpected friendliness and good food. The Caesar salad was made with high quality Romaine lettuce with just the right amount of dressing, cheese, and home-made croutons. Warm bread. Had chicken and broccoli with fettuccine Alfredo that was very good. The apple tart was very good with tart apples and cinnamon pastry with sweet ice cream. The wait staff was very attentive and predicted our needs. Music was good with love songs from the 70s. I highly recommend it.

I was traveling to Kansas City, MO with work, and was staying in Kearney, MO. I was looking for an Italian Restaurant in the area for the group of 8 that we had. Unilocal directed us towards Gino’s Italian Cuisine. When I saw posts that Gino sings to his guests, I knew we had to give this place a try! Just like the other reviewers have said, this is a family owned and run business. They had no problem accommodating our party of 8. The drinks took a little longer then expected, but Gino kept us entertained while we waited. Our crew thought the food was delicious, the portions very generous and the prices were not bad either. There was a fried cheesecake dessert that we all shared which was amazing! We will definitely visit this restaurant again if we are in town!
